Orvon Grover "Gene" Autry (September 29, 1907 – October 2, 1998) was an American performer who gained fame as a singing cowboy on the radio, in movies, and on television for more than three decades beginning in the early 1930s. Autry was also owner of a television station, several radio stations in Southern California, and the Los Angeles/California/Anaheim Angels Major League Baseball team from 1961 to 1997.
From 1934 to 1953, Autry appeared in 93 films and 91 episodes of The Gene Autry Show television series. During the 1930s and 1940s, he personified the straight-shooting hero—honest, brave, and true—and profoundly touched the lives of millions of Americans. Autry was also one of the most important figures in the history of country music, considered the second major influential artist of the genre's development after Jimmie Rodgers. His singing cowboy movies were the first vehicle to carry country music to a national audience. In addition to his signature song, "Back in the Saddle Again", Autry is still remembered for his Christmas holiday songs, "Here Comes Santa Claus", which he wrote, "Frosty the Snowman", and his biggest hit, "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer".
Autry is a French commune in the Ardennes department in the Champagne-Ardenne region of north-eastern France.
The inhabitants of the commune are known as Autryens or Autryennes.
Autry is located some 50 km east of Reims and 25 km north by north-west of Sainte-Menehould. The southern border of the commune is the departmental boundary between Ardennes and Marne. Access to the commune is by road D21 from Challerange in the north-west which passes through the centre of the commune and the village and continues to Binarville in the south-east after changing to the D63 at the departmental border. The D218 goes west from the village to Bouconville and the D41 goes north-east to Lançon. Apart from the village there is the hamlet of La Gare in the west. Large areas of the commune are forested, especially in the west, and there is a large fish farm in the east. The rest of the commune is farmland.
The Aisne river forms part of the south-eastern border of the commune as it flows north then west to the village then north again as it continues its journey to join the Oise at Compiègne. The Dormoise flows from the south-west to join the Aisne in the commune. The Remy Galere rises on the northern border and flows east to join the Aisne forming part of the northern border.
A gene is a locus (or region) of DNA that encodes a functional RNA or protein product, and is the molecular unit of heredity. The transmission of genes to an organism's offspring is the basis of the inheritance of phenotypic traits. Most biological traits are under the influence of polygenes (many different genes) as well as the gene–environment interactions. Some genetic traits are instantly visible, such as eye colour or number of limbs, and some are not, such as blood type, risk for specific diseases, or the thousands of basic biochemical processes that comprise life.
Genes can acquire mutations in their sequence, leading to different variants, known as alleles, in the population. These alleles encode slightly different versions of a protein, which cause different phenotype traits. Colloquial usage of the term "having a gene" (e.g., "good genes," "hair colour gene") typically refers to having a different allele of the gene. Genes evolve due to natural selection or survival of the fittest of the alleles.
"Back in the Saddle" is a song by American hard rock band Aerosmith. It was written by Steven Tyler and Joe Perry. It is the first song on Aerosmith's pinnacle hard rock album Rocks released in 1976. The song was released as the third single from the album in 1977. It peaked at #38 on the Billboard Hot 100.
The song's main riff was written by Joe Perry on a Fender Bass VI, which gives the song its distinctive "growl". Brad Whitford plays the lead guitar part. "Back in the Saddle" also features one of the heaviest and noticeable bass lines by Tom Hamilton. The song is also notable for the slow buildup of the drum beat and guitar riff in the beginning of the song, as well as the sound effects of a galloping horse and whips, and screams and yodeling by Steven Tyler at the end of the song. A real bullwhip was intended to be used for the whip effects and hours were spent trying to get it to crack. The band members ended up cut up and hurt without making any progress. Eventually, the band decided the whip effects would be created by whirling a 30-foot cord from the studio, then by firing a cap gun to create the crack of the whip (the sound effects are more prominent in the Quadraphonic mix of the album (Columbia CAQ 34165)). When the song is performed in concert, Steven Tyler often makes more noticeable lyrical and visible references to sex. Although the lyrics, by Steven Tyler, were written with the simple idea of cowboys and sex, this song took on new meaning after Aerosmith reunited in 1984 and embarked on their Back in the Saddle tour.
"Mexicali Rose" is a popular song with music by Jack Tenney and lyrics by Helen Stone, published in 1923. The song is a love story of a man who must leave his love for a while. The chorus:
The song has become a pop standard, performed by many artists, including Bing Crosby, Gene Autry, and Jerry Lee Lewis.

Joni Mitchell - Cherokee Louise (live @ Gene Autry Western Heritage Museum)
Home On The Range sung by Gene Autry. An idyllic flashback to the 50s with a view into a simple life full of contentment. A log cabin, a family, nature at their feet, food to eat, what more can they need? How life has changed today. The family pictures were from the famous TV series Little House On The Prairie, which was so popular years ago. I hope you enjoy the storyboard background.

Gene Autry : Greatest Hits - The Best of Gene Autry
This is portions of The Steve Allen Show from 12/21/1959 with Gene Autry among others. The show features a modern introduction by Steve Allen.
Men with Steel Faces (1940) Gene Autry, Frankie Darro, Smiley Burnette Re-edited feature version of serial The Phantom Empire (1935). Singer Gene Autry discovers a race of advanced humans living beneath the earth.
After high school Gene Autry worked as a laborer for the St. Louis and San Francisco Railroad in Oklahoma. Next he was a telegrapher. In 1928 he began singing on a local radio station, and three years later he had his own show and was making his first recordings. Three years after that he made his film debut in Ken Maynard's In Old Santa Fe (1934) and starred in a 13-part serial the following year for Mascot Pictures, The Phantom Empire (1935). The next year he signed a contract with Republic Pictures and began making westerns. Autry--for better or worse--pretty much ushered in the era of the "singing cowboy" westerns of the 1930s and 1940s (in spite of the presence in his oaters of automobiles, radios and airplanes). These films often grossed ten times their average $50,000 production cos...

Singing cowboy movie stars like Roy Rogers, Dale Evans, Gene Autry were my first movie heroes as a TV-weaned Baby Boomer kid in the early-to-mid-'50s. Fast-forwarding to 1993, when I was a PR director with Rhino Entertainment, the company's A&R; director James Austin produced the 4-CD "Songs of the West" boxed set, and yours truly, volunteered to handle the PR for the project. We're all hell bent on destruction
Trying to erase black spots on our souls
Hide from a violent eruption
Cataclysmic engulfing us all.
Lay down (lay down)
Tonight (tonight)
In front of the things
That conquer us all.
Your body, it taunts me
Your flesh is, oh so haunting.
Chorus:
Children of the night.
Throw your hands up in the air.
We all know we've lost the fight.
Hope dies out and we can see the end.
Black days begin.
Walk down this path of temptation
Deny the flesh ignore whats crawling below.
Stay true (stay true)
Stay cold (stay cold)
In front of the things
That conquer us all!
Your body, it taunts me
Your flesh is, oh so haunting.
Chorus
Solos
Your body, it taunts me
Your flesh is, oh so haunting.
