After winning the Sur Singar music competition in the year 1976, a little known boy from Kolhapur named Suresh Ishwar Wadkar announced his entry in Bollywood. He got his first break with the song Chal Chameli Baug Mein from the film Krodhi. Suresh Wadkar stamped his authority in the film industry with the film Prem Rog in which he sang all the songs for Rishi Kapoor. While working as a music teacher at Arya Vidya Mandir in Mumbai, Suresh Wadkar taught many young kids who later became successful singers themselves. The song Ai Zindagi Gale Laga Le from the film Sadma and Aur Is Dil Mein Kya Rakha Hai from the film Imaandar, will forever be etched in every music lover's memory. 'Aye Zindagi Gale Lagaa Le' is an inspiring song that celebrates finding joy in all the small things of day-to-day life. Suresh Wadkar sings to the music of Ilaiyaraaja in picturesque Ooty which is caught in all its moods by Balu Mahendra. The innocence of Somu and Reshmi's relationship that walks the tender line between affection and love, comes out beautifully as they enjoy the pleasures of everyday chores together.
Sadma, starring Kamal Haasan and Sridevi, is the story of Nehalata/Reshmi (Sridevi), a young woman who regresses to childhood after suffering a head injury in a car crash. She lands in a brothel before being rescued by Somu (Kamal Haasan), a lonely school teacher who falls in love with her.

Suresh Wadkar
Suresh Ishwar Wadkar is an Indian playback singer. He performs in both Hindi and Marathi films. He has sung songs in some Bhojpuri films and in Konkani.
Music teaching
In 1968, when Suresh Wadkar was 13, Jialal Vasant encouraged him to work towards the "Prabhakar" certificate offered by the Prayag Sangit Samiti, because it was equivalent to a BEd and qualifies the awardee to teach professionally. Wadkar successfully completed his "Prabhakar" and joined Arya Vidya Mandir in Mumbai as a music teacher.
He has a music school in Mumbai, India (www.ajivasan.com) and New Jersey/New York City (www.sureshwadkarmusic.com) where methodical training is given to students. He has also started an online music school, called SWAMA (Suresh Wadkar Ajivasan Music Academy), under Ace Open University.
Singing career
Though groomed for Indian classical music, he entered the Sur-Singar competition in 1976. Wadkar won the competition which was judged by composers from the Indian film industry including Jaidev. Jaidev later offered him the song "Seene Mein Jalan" in the film Gaman (released in 1978). He also performed in the film Paheli (released 1977).

After winning the Sur Singar music competition in the year 1976, a little known boy from Kolhapur named Suresh Ishwar Wadkar announced his entry in Bollywood. He got his first break with the song Chal Chameli Baug Mein from the film Krodhi. Suresh Wadkar stamped his authority in the film industry with the film Prem Rog in which he sang all the songs for Rishi Kapoor. While working as a music teacher at Arya Vidya Mandir in Mumbai, Suresh Wadkar taught many young kids who later became successful singers themselves. The song Ai Zindagi Gale Laga Le from the film Sadma and Aur Is Dil Mein Kya Rakha Hai from the film Imaandar, will forever be etched in every music lover's memory. After winning the Sur Singar music competition in the year 1976, a little known boy from Kolhapur named Suresh Ishwar Wadkar announced his entry in Bollywood. He got his first break with the song Chal Chameli Baug Mein from the film Krodhi. Suresh Wadkar stamped his authority in the film industry with the film Prem Rog in which he sang all the songs for Rishi Kapoor. While working as a music teacher at Arya Vidya Mandir in Mumbai, Suresh Wadkar taught many young kids who later became successful singers themselves. The song Ai Zindagi Gale Laga Le from the film Sadma and Aur Is Dil Mein Kya Rakha Hai from the film Imaandar, will forever be etched in every music lover's memory.
