Micropterus is a genus of freshwater fish in the sunfish family (family Centrarchidae) of order Perciformes. The species of this genus are known as the black basses.
The black basses are sometimes erroneously called black trout, but the name trout more correctly refers to certain members of the salmon family.
The black basses are distributed throughout a large area east of the Rocky Mountains in North America, from the Hudson Bay basin in Canada to northeastern Mexico. Several species, notably the Largemouth and Smallmouth basses, have been very widely introduced throughout the world, and are now considered cosmopolitan. Black bass of all species are highly sought-after game fish, and bass fishing is an extremely popular sport throughout the bass's native range. These fish are well known as strong fighters, and their meat is eaten, being quite edible and firm.
All Micropterus species have a dull-green base coloring with dark patterns on the sides. Most reach a maximum overall length of 40–60 cm (16–24 in), but some strains of the largemouth bass have been reported to grow to almost a full meter (just over three feet) in length.
Gong Lei may refer to:
Bass fishing is the activity of angling for the North American gamefish known colloquially as the black bass. There are numerous black bass species considered as gamefish in North America, including largemouth bass (Micropterus salmoides), smallmouth bass (Micropterus dolomieui), spotted bass or Kentucky bass (Micropterus punctulatus), and Guadalupe bass (order Perciformes).
Modern bass fishing has evolved into a multibillion-dollar industry. The sport has changed drastically since its beginnings in the late 19th century. From humble beginnings, the black bass has become the second most specifically sought-after game fish in the United States. The sport has driven the development of all manner of fishing gear, including rods, reels, lines, lures, electronic depth and fish-finding instruments, drift boats, float tubes, and specialized bass boats.
All black bass are well known as strong fighters and are fished recreationally. Depending upon species and various other factors such as water quality and availability of food, black bass may be found in lakes, reservoirs, ponds, rivers, streams, creeks, even roadside ditches. Largemouth are known for their greater overall size and resistance when hooked, favoring short, powerful runs and escape to cover such as submerged logs or weedbeds, while smallmouth bass tend to jump more and fight aggressively on the surface when hooked, in order to throw the hook.
New Guinea (Tok Pisin: Niugini; Dutch: Nieuw-Guinea; Indonesian: Papua or, historically, Irian) is a large Island in the South West Pacific region.
It is the world's second-largest island, after Greenland, covering a land area of 785,753 km2, and the largest wholly within the southern hemisphere.
The island is divided among two countries: Papua New Guinea to the east, and Indonesia to the west.
The island has been known by various names.
The name Papua was used to refer to parts of the island before contact with the West. Its etymology is unclear; one theory states that it is from Tidore, the language used by the Sultanate of Tidore, which controlled parts of the island's coastal region. The name came from papo (to unite) and ua (negation), which means not united or, territory that geographically is far away (and thus not united).
Ploeg reports that the word papua is often said to derive from the Malay word papua or pua-pua, meaning 'frizzly-haired', referring to the highly curly hair of the inhabitants of these areas. Another possibility, put forward by Sollewijn Gelpke in 1993, is that it comes from the Biak phrase sup i papwa which means 'the land below [the sunset]' and refers to the islands west of the Bird's Head, as far as Halmahera. Whatever the origin of the name Papua, it came to be associated with this area, and more especially with Halmahera, which was known to the Portuguese by this name during the era of their colonization in this part of the world.

Papua New Guinea (PNG; /ˈpæpuə njuː ˈɡɪniː, ˈpɑː-, -pju-/, US /ˈpæpjuə, pɑːˈpuːə/;Tok Pisin: Papua Niugini; Hiri Motu: Papua Niu Gini), officially the Independent State of Papua New Guinea, is an Oceanian country that occupies the eastern half of the island of New Guinea and its offshore islands in Melanesia, a region of the southwestern Pacific Ocean north of Australia. Its capital, located along its southeastern coast, is Port Moresby. The western half of New Guinea forms the Indonesian provinces of Papua and West Papua.
Papua New Guinea is one of the most culturally diverse countries in the world; 848 languages are listed for the country, of which 12 have no known living speakers. Most of the population of over 7 million people live in customary communities, which are as diverse as the languages. It is also one of the most rural, as only 18 percent of its people live in urban centres. The country is one of the world's least explored, culturally and geographically, and many undiscovered species of plants and animals are thought to exist in the interior.

One of the best things about fishing is the unknown. One thing I do know is when I rally up with Paul Bailey and Matt Newman we catch big bass every time. On this special episode of Stoked On Fishing Paul Bailey catches a potential world record bass.
Fishing some Florida ponds with my grandpa, I stumbled upon a largemouth bass that was super dark, it almost looked completely black! It was probably just dark from hanging under grass it's whole life, but I have heard of bass having coloring defects. Anyone have an idea as to why it was so black? Fantásticas imagens de black basses se alimentando. No vídeo, eles atacam tanto iscas artificiais como peixes menores e, em alguns momentos, podemos ver eles se alimentando inclusive de peixes da sua própria espécie. Fantastic pictures of black basses feeding. In the video, they attack both artificial lures as smaller fish and, at times, we can see them feeding including fish of their own species.

Let's go fishing for a black bass
But it is a rainy day
Let's go fishing to the lake
But it is a windy day
I went to buy many lures
I got up early in the morning
I made tuna sandwiches
Put 'em in a basket with chocobars
Black bass, got my tackle and my bait
Black bass, oh, I can hardly wait
Black bass, come along with me
Black bass, oh, how happy we'll be
Let's go fishing for a black bass
But it is a rainy day
Let's go fishing to the lake
But it is a windy day
Someone brought that black bass
To this lake from far away
Changing the biological
Distribution of the lake
Black bass, got my tackle and my bait
Black bass, oh, I can hardly wait
Black bass, come along with me
Black bass, oh, how happy we'll be
My little boy, come fishing with me
Black bass, black bass, black bass
I wanna see you catch me a black bass
Black bass, black bass, black bass
I went to buy many lures
I got up early in the morning
