Jamaica

Jamaica (i/əˈmkə/) is an island country situated in the Caribbean Sea, comprising the third-largest island of the Greater Antilles. The island, 10,990 square kilometres (4,240 sq mi) in area, lies about 145 kilometres (90 mi) south of Cuba, and 191 kilometres (119 mi) west of Hispaniola, the island containing the nation-states of Haiti and the Dominican Republic. Jamaica is the fifth-largest island country in the Caribbean.

Previously inhabited by the indigenous Arawak and Taíno peoples, the island came under Spanish rule following the arrival of Christopher Columbus in 1494. Named Santiago, it remained a possession of Spain until 1655, when England (later Great Britain) conquered the island and renamed it Jamaica. Under British rule, Jamaica became a leading sugar exporter, with its plantation economy highly dependent on slaves imported from Africa, followed later by Chinese and Indian indentured labour. All slaves were fully emancipated in 1838, with independence from the United Kingdom achieved on 6 August 1962.

Other top imports included undenatured ethyl alcohol(ethanol) of an alcohol strength by volume of 80% volume or higher; automobiles with reciprocating piston engine displacing greater than 1,500 cc to 3000 cc; ethanol and other spirits, denatured, of any strength; medicaments nes, in dosage; caustic soda; food preps (apart from protein concentrates); durum wheat; automobiles with reciprocating piston engine displacing greater than 1,000 cc to 1,500 cc; and refined sugar in solid form. Jamaica was a top 20 global importer of brans, sharps and other residues of leguminous plants, pelleted or not; ethanol; beans, small red; wrist watches; flour meal and powder of edible fruits and nuts and peels or citrus fruit or melons; dried fish; prepared mackerel; shingles and shakes of wood; woven fabric of other synthetic staple; goat meat; husked brown rice; pineapple juice; maize (corn) bran; sharps and other residues; sheep carcasses; sodium hydroxide; curtains drapes; human hair; and bed linen. Some of these items could be explored as sectors for import displacement. Possible import displacement was observed as a number of products experienced significant import contractions between 2008 and 2012 (some of these products may be experiencing general sales downturn that is not replaced by any indigenous production). These products included malt extract and food preps containing cocoa (-41% contraction annually); paddy rice (41%); books, brochures, leaflets and similar printed matter (-31%); mixtures of juices unfermented (-30%); sheep carcasses and half carcasses frozen (-26%); co-axial cable and other co-axial electric conductors (-23%); plastic furniture (-22%); valves, safety or relief (-20%); tubes, pipe and hollow profiles, iron or steel, welded (-20%); curtains, drapes, interior blinds and curtains (-20%); uncoated paper and paperboard of a kind used for writing or printing (-20%); doors, windows and their frames and thresholds for doors of aluminium (-19%); metal furniture (-18%); fitted mattresses with springs, stuffed internally (-18%); soaps (-17%); and doors and their frames and thresholds of wood (-17%). Some further exploration of these sectors is required to assess where import displacement is occurring and to assess whether this pattern can be replicated in the sectors below that seem to be experiencing import surges. However, there were a range of sectors where rapid import growth was observed, and it is possible that these sectors could be experiencing "import surges". These sectors included ethanol(604% growth per annum); fertilizers containing nitrates and phosphates (441%); Soya-bean oil and its fractions, refined but not chemically modified (336%); Paper and paperboard used for writing, printing or other graphic purpose (166%); Polystyrene, expansible (56%); grape wines (52%); tiles, cubes and similar unglazed ceramics (51%); rice, semi milled or wholly milled, whether or not polished or glazed (49%); footwear with outer soles and uppers of leather (48%); hand-drawn paintings and pastels (41%); kraft paper in rolls or sheets (38%); domestic fowl, duck, goose and guinea fowl meat and meat offal prepared and preserved excluding livers (37%); fowl (gallus domesticus) meat, prepared and preserved (34%); sulphuric acid (34%); shrimps and prawns prepared and preserved (32%); vitamins (32%); tunas, skipjack prepared or preserved (29%); sacks and bags of polymers of ethylene (28%); cocoa powder (28%); swine cuts frozen (28%); molluscs and other aquatic invertebrates (23%); coffee, not roasted or decaffeinated (23%); and sauces and other mixed condiments (21%).

The renowned Jamaican scientist Dr. Henry Lowe, a leader in THC studies for medical purposes, is running the company with the University of West Indies and the University of Technology jointly funding the facility. In addition to studying the scientific benefits of marijuana, Dr. Lowe says the company will produce CBD-based medical products, which fall under legally accepted medicinal use of the ganja plant. Lowe says the plant extract can be used to treat psychosis and severe pain, as well as mid-life crises in men. Footage description: Medium Action Close of 2 young bee farmers in action with the bee hives, extracting the frames + bees in Riverhead's Apiary - Llandewey. Description of UNDP Jamaica's participation on One day on Earth 2011: Myself (Laura Raccio) and Ms. Ruth Simpson (Rural youth employment project-RUYE project manager) went to visit one of the active groups under one of UNDP Jamaica poverty reduction projects: RUYE – the Bee keeping youth group in the St. Thomas parish (east end of Jamaica). We visited two different beekeeping sites. The first one in River Head-Llandewey ( a set of small apiaries). The second one in Albion, a huge apiary with a total of 148 colonies. In both sites there were several young bee farmers together with the beekeeping group leaders (mentors) – Mr. Morgan and Mr. Simpson. Myself and the project manager were bitten many times by the bees before we realized we should have covered themselves with the proper veil uniform. I took both action footages and some short interviews. Description of the beekeeping youth group and the UNDP-USAID project filmed on 11/11/11: The Beekeeping Group in Llandewey, St. Thomas is one of the RUYE project's initiatives. The young bee farmers are in the process of being fully enabled to launch their business in honey production: A challenge totally in line with the objectives pursued by the RUYE project in Rural Jamaica. The group is focused on generating an enterprise specialized in Honey production. The project provides theoretical and practical training after which group members receive the required professional equipment. In this way group members are enabled with both knowledge and tools to start their business. The Llandewey group has 40 members, 36 youths and 4 adults. The Rural Youth Employment Project (RUYE) is a 3-year US$1,000,000 initiative being implemented by the Scientific Research Council (SRC) with funding from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The project which officially started in January 2010, will end in December 2012. It specifically targets young persons in the rural parishes of Manchester, Trelawny, St. Ann and St. Thomas aiming to improve the quality of life of disadvantaged youths aged 15-29 in rural Jamaica. The project seeks to strengthen rural youths' capacity to capitalize on income generation opportunities in a sustainable manner through profitable agricultural or agro-processing enterprises.

WOWOWOW! Lindsey and Frank have secured their place - a special place in my heart. I was thrilled to have been hired to plan their day - a day that was delicately laid out in Lindsey's mind for awhile. She had her vision, he had his ideas, and the planning was underway with determination like none other. If you are a couple looking to plan a wedding in Jamaica, or any other 3rd world country - YOU NEED A WEDDING PLANNER! You can't afford not to have one! The business owners and vendors that were secured in Jamaica were wonderful people, big hearts, proud of their work, and willing to please. The problems come with conveying what the couple wants - and making sure they "get it". I have to say, that this was honestly the most difficult task I have done to date. And with that, it was the most rewarding and most highly anticipated wedding I have had this year. Like all couples, they started with a budget. A budget that would need to be changed, tweaked, adjusted, reallocated, over and over. After hoursof phone calls, emails, detailing, and planning...the wedding came to life in March of 2012. Rose Hall was the ceremony venue with the Great House Lawn serving as the reception site. This was a very well managed budget and priority was given to their most important elements. One common question I often get is "What exactly did you plan here?" Answer is: everything! Many couples dont know exactly what they need going into this. So when details came up, like choosing fabric for the custom suits, choosing the right hue of blue, laying out the tables on the lawn, getting the grounds sprayed for bugs prior to the wedding, deciding what musician shouldplay for cocktail, managing travel arrangements, assembling welcome bags, printing programs, escort cards, and menus.....etc etc. I was there - and held their hand thru everything. Lindsey's style was sophisticated, fun, simple yet spunky, with clean and {happy} details. Silver, Plum, Peacock blue, Turquoise, were all hues that we played with. We arranged for many of the details to be supplied by the Jamaican vendors - but yet, I came PACKED. I brought with me: the linens, the stationary, the rocks for the placecards (which we soon learned I could of gotten them from the beach), the ceremony items, led lights, programs, the BROOCH bouquet, and of course my SOS kit. Lindsey and Frank are simply gifted with having a family like they do. It takes alot to make me tear up or get choked up during toasts or dances. But they got to me! And it happened more than once. During the couples "thank you" toast, the bride actually thought of me and took the time to thank ME DURING her toast. I was humbled. This very rarely happens - because the attention (as it should be) is on the family, the closest friends, the guests that are in attendance. She looked for me during her toast and gave a "nod" and wonderfully kind words to me and our experience. (luv her). The group danced and partied to the very last possible minute....a true tribute to how much this couple was loved and supported. 1 x 52' documentary including Pharrell Williams and Jay Sean. An observational film that explores the lives of four barbers across the world. Following their weekly routines and adventures in Ghana, Jamaica, US and London, the film creates a emotive account of business and enterprise in the 21st Century through a unique brand of masculinity and brotherhood. Through the four main characters we explore the cultural importance of barbering as an institution throughout marginalized communities. The Fade unravels what the profession really means to the four men and what inspires their desire to succeed, closely looking at the similarities, the differences and how their location defines their outlook and ambition. Interweaving an international dialogue that aligns an image of a profession separated by location, The Fade is a revealing insight into a world behind a window of black men and the idiosyncratic nature, social importance and traditions of men in the hair business.

Mentor: Ben Bonaventura Domains: World Languages and Literature: English, Visual Arts Faculty: Brianna Ashe My two graphic journals and video present the differences between Western cul- ture, Jamaica; and Eastern culture, Japan. The journal is pretty personal, and every single image in the journal reminds me of my trips. I love to travel and learn the cultural differences from different countries. Unlike some other tourists, I do not go to a place for the tourism sites. I love to see the real and true cultures in every country: what kind of food they like, what kind of lives they are living, what their culture is all about. I went to Jamaica to take care of animals, but I also had the opportunity to live with a local family and see the beauty of Jamaican culture. Last summer, I went to Japan to visit a friend. Thanks to Ross School, I met a good friend named Asako. I lived in her house when I visited Tokyo. I went to a lot of places in Japan and had all kinds of amazing experiences. My hope is that by reading my journals people will see and understand the kind of experiences I had in these two countries and notice the beauty of two very different cultures.

Plastic bags, plastic bottles, and plastic caps! On rainy days, plastic street litter gets washed down the sewer, into local waterways then up onto our beaches. These students want you to understand how local street litter becomes a huge global marine litter problem! This illuminating documentary is #6 in Cafeteria Culture's YOUTH MEDIA for TRASH FREE WATERS series - created by 8th grade students in East Flatbush, Brooklyn. A message from the 8th grade filmmakers: Jamaica Bay Beach, located in Queens, NY, is a national park that has a litter problem. Plastics and other types of litter are getting on the beach, which is confusing the animals that live there because they do not know what is and is not food. On a trip to Jamaica Bay to conduct a beach litter survey and a cleanup. We collected many types of garbage, from plastic bags to bottles to polystyrene cups…you name it! With your help, we can conserve our beaches and save animals’ lives by making sure we dispose our trash correctly and reduce the amount of plastic we use. Please help us keep our streets and beaches clean for a safer and better future environment! #cleanstreetscleanbeaches #saveourbeaches "Keep it Wavy, Keep it Clean” illuminates the vital role that citizen science, litter surveying and beach clean-ups play in terms of reducing the ever increasing amounts of plastic litter entering our local waterways and oceans. Using data collected from beach ad street litter surveys, we can educate our communities, as well as our elected officials, on what specific types of local litter are most prevalent, making our parks and beaches ugly, and negatively impacting marine wildlife. From a Eunomia, UK, 2016 report: - Over 80% of marine plastic pollution comes from land-based sources. - 94% of the plastic that enters the ocean ends up on the sea floor. - Barely 1% of plastics are found floating on or the near the ocean surface and by contrast, the amount estimated to be on beaches is 5 times greater. "Keep it Wavy, Keep it Clean” was created by 8th grade students at MS246 Walt Whitman in East Flatbush, Brooklyn (NYC Department of Education, District 17). The curriculum is part of Cafeteria Culture’s interdisciplinary environmental education, YOUTH ARTS + MEDIA for TRASH FREE WATERS School Program (2016), which has been generously funded by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region 2, Sustainable Materials Management Section, CASD. Cafeteria Culture is most appreciative of additional support via our UL Innovative Education Award (2015), The Fund for the City of New York, and private donors. Cafeteria Culture is creatively working to achieve zero waste schools and climate smart communities through education, arts, media, and action. IYAH MEDIA RELEASE STEPPING HIGH FESTIVAL MARCH 7- 8, 2015 Cayenne Beach, Norman Manley Blvd, Negril THE STEPPING HIGH GANJA FESTIVAL HAS BEEN EXHIBITING JAMAICA’S OUTSTANDING GANJA CULTIVATION IN NEGRIL SINCE 2003. THE 12TH EDITION HELD MARCH 7th-8, 2015 WILL PROUDLY CELEBRATE THE LONG OVERDUE DECRIMINALIZATION AND PENDING LEGALIZATION OF GANJA IN JAMAICA. For the first time in its 12 year history, the Stepping High Festival is publicly announcing its exhibition of fine herbs and celebration of the farmers across the island who produce one of Jamaica’s most valuable assets. Invitation is extended to all to attend this one-of-a-kind ganja competition displaying the rich variety of Jamaica’s natural strains. While Rastafarians have been edifying worldwide the benefits of the sacramental herb, and reggae artists have carried the plants liberation message to the Four Corners, ganja remains illegal in its global “homeland.” Ganja grows on an estimated 37,066 acres across the island, Jamaica is the premiere Caribbean supplier of marijuana to the US, yet ironically the US is progressively ahead of Jamaica in legalization. Twenty seven states and the District of Columbia have legalized medical marijuana or decriminalized marijuana possession--or both, signaling a clarion call affirming the peoples choice. The Jamaica Government needs to protect its longstanding lion-hearted growers who despite persecution have made their nation the proud ganja capital of the world. The government needs to act immediately upon legalization legislation; facilitate small grower cooperatives; allow the use of Crown land for cultivation and most importantly monitor and insure foreign interests and investments enable Jamaica to manage and economically sustain one of its most vital resources. The two day Festival held on Cayenne Beach, Norman Manley Blvd, Negril will include live musical performances featuring Hon. Bunny Wailer among others, The People’s Forum, ganja cup competition, ital food, crafts, health and natural products, film screenings and more! Some of these were interviews I conducted while others were organic conversations caught on film bridging my experience as a Canadian born Jamaican and Ghanaian with my Jamaican roots.

It's ME! Jessica Campbell! As of right now my ambition is to further contribute to the Public Health development of Jamaica. I completed a Bachelor's Degree in Biology with a double minor in Psychology and Public Health. I completely fell in love with Public Health, the concept of caring for an entire population through prevention was phenomenal to me. Contributing to this would be fulfilling. My life's ambition is to use every experience I can to learn, to use every opportunity however big or small to aid a greater purpose and hopefully inspire someone else to do the same. Ultimately, I would like to align myself with service organizations with which I can give back more to the community. Tourism in the Caribbean is a major component of the regions economy. Many of the island nations governments invest heavily in attracting tourists to their beaches, resorts and attractions, more so than some invest in the infrastructure of their countries. According to the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO), the Caribbean Basin is the most tourist-dependent region in the world. The region's tourism dollars exceed gross exports by about a third of total receipts, and about a million workers are employed in the tourism industry. It was here on the north coast that Christopher Columbus landed in1502 and where the Spanish were defeated by the British in a bloody battle for sovereign control of the island. Dunn`s River Falls is the name of a waterfall near to Ochos Rios, one of the island’s most well known natural attractions. In swimming attire, more than a million annual visitors attempt to climb through spraying torrents of water whilst linking hands in a human chain. In foaming cascades, the water plunges 200 metres down toward the sea over step-shaped limestone blocks and across an overgrown landscape of ferns and plants. Harmony Hall, a Victorian building that is a reminder of British colonial rule, is the name of an immaculate manor house located on a turn of the century plantation. Today it contains a handicraft centre and also a gallery which displays the works of indigenous artists. James Bond Beach is the name of the former winter retreat of the English author, Ian Fleming, who created British secret agent, James Bond. The famous author wrote most of his fourteen 007 novels on the small island of Golden Eye, of which five were set in Jamaica. Expansive fields of coconut palms dominate the Sun Valley Plantation which continues a tradition that dates back 250 years. In addition to bananas, citrus fruits, papayas, melons and apples, various spices are also cultivated on the plantation. World famous for their coffee beans, the Blue Mountains represent breathtaking primeval nature with a hint of adventure, a further experience in this sun-scorched island of dreams. -------------- Watch more travel videos ► http://goo.gl/HYQdhg Join us. Blog | http://www.aperezvoyages.com Instagram | Aperezvoyages Facebook Page | https://www.facebook.com/aperezvoyages Snapchat : APerezVoyages This was my very first trip alone outside of the US. Very daring but very adventurous. Despite going in the middle of Hurricane Season, Tropical storm Issaac missed Jamaica and Atlanta and it only rained twice the whole time. :) Not only did i do everything i wanted but i also did everything i wanted within a set budget. I got the opportunity to see Montego Bay, Ocho Rios where i stayed, Negril overnight, and Kingston in just four days. Even though I spend half my time on the road, the road traveling allowed me to see a lot of the heart of Jamaica. I am happy to say that I spend my 24th birthday just 3 weeks after Jamaicas 50th independence day and Usain Bolts recent Olympic Victories. I have much respect for Jamaican people, lifestyle and culture as much of the island is poor. In addition to rich culture and beauty, Jamaica is home to great music. Aside from wishing i stayed in Negril for a second night, this trip was a huge accomplishment in regards to future travel alone. I learned how to use other currency versus my own and i know how I should blend in with locals if necessary. lol Happy Travels and I wish peace, love, and prosperity to this beautiful island. ONE LOVE Day 1: Land in Montego/ Ocho Rios Day 2: Kingston Day 3: Dunns River Falls/ Bob Sled Ride/ Negril Day 4: Negril/ Ocho Rios Day 5: Fly out of Montego Bay Video production and assembly is not professional, strictly for fun. :) Enjoy Songs (Some of my favorites) Dj Flower - Jamaican Love Gregory Isaacs - Tune In Shabba Ranks - Fresh Bob Marley - Small Axe Damien Marley - Affairs of the Heart Steel Pulse - Throne of Gold Barrington Levy - I Hold the Handle Eek A Mouse - Wah Do Dem On A Mission (Jamaica 50th Anniversary song)

LEE SCRATCH PERRY'S VISION OF PARADISE - AUSTRALIAN PREMIERE Presented by Groovescooter + Goethe-Institut with Foreigndub soundsystem in the bar 6.00pm Saturday 21 May 2016,Golden Age Cinema + Bar, Surry Hills Tix: http://bit.ly/20ABgMX THE ONE MOVIE THAT EXPLAINS IT ALL. Filmed over 15 years, this is the true story of iconic reggae producer Lee Scratch Perry, a maverick pioneer of dub. It’s also a guide on how to change the world using art and music. With unprecedented access to Perry’s inner-world, the sonic and spiritual collide as we travel with the famed ‘Upsetter' from Jamaica to Ethiopia, Switzerland to London. From his legendary and largely mysterious Black Ark Studio (where he recorded Bob Marley and many others - but how did he get those sounds?), through current cross-continental artistic spaces and on to his glimpses of the future, the fighting-fit 71 year-old Grammy-winning visionary is both candid and confounding in this suitably psychedelic portrait from German filmmaker Volker Schaner. Alongside Perry, the film features a host of music notables including Dennis Bovell, Adrian Sherwood, Ashley Beedle, Martin Glover and reggae-historian David Katz. Included in Rolling Stone Magazine's 100 Greatest Artists of All Time, Perry has worked with everyone from Keith Richards, The Beastie Boys, George Clinton, Moby and Ari Up of The Slits, to David Lynch and porn star Sasha Grey. After six decades behind the controls he continues to innovate and inspire, whether giving modern-day dancehall a booty-shaking run for her money, or teaming up with The Orb recently to attract world-wide critical acclaim afresh. This is a must see for any reggae and dub fan.

This is volume seven of my personal tour journal. This video is a bit different than the rest. My tour originally had been scheduled to go through the south into Arkansas, but in Ohio, Chris invited me to travel with him to the East Coast where he and Rob Reid were planning on doing about a week of shows together. So we drove. A non-stop 24 hour drive (literally) from Murfreesboro, Tennessee to Boston. After the incredibly long drive, Chris and I crashed with Rob at his sisters' place in Jamaica Plain. After a solid night of sleep and some food (thanks for the pancakes Martin!), we moved on to Brunswick, Maine and camped out near Monmouth. One night we stopped at an awesome bar in Hallowell called, The Liberal Cup, where I had THE BEST oatmeal stout I've ever tasted. When we left the bar, we discovered a bookstore totally unlocked next door (at 12:30am) and went in... you can see Rob's thought process about the idea of the bookstore in the video. I encouraged him to use several expletives to describe just how crazy it was. The following day we wrapped up our camp and headed for the White Mountains in New Hampshire to do some trail hiking up to Mt. Chocorua. The mountains were incredible and the hike, though difficult at times, was definitely worth the effort. That night we crashed with some of Chris' friends that he had met on the Appalachian trail when he hiked it from Georgia to Maine a few years ago. They were incredibly hospitable and we were thankful to have a nice warm and dry place to sleep after our long hike. We then headed back to Boston for one night before moving on to Middleboro. Chris and I discovered just how difficult it was to navigate through Boston's confusing streets, but we made it out and performed again with Rob at The Flat Iron Cafe. Rob's family came out to the Middleboro show and we were put up by his mother and father for a couple of days. They live on the coast of Buzzards Bay, so we had a chance to do some boating too. Overall, the past twelve days have been a whirlwind journey around New England with Rob as our tour guide. I've never been to this part of the country before and I'm trying to enjoy the experience of being here versus filming a ton of it... One more tour journal to go!

First time entrant and youngest competitor Aaliyah Alkhateeb, who was only 7 years old, charged the waves that were twice her size and had the crowd on their feet. Though she did not make it to the finals of the Amateur division, she was awarded the prize for Most Heart.

Please Subscribe to keep us going! Official Site: http://www.strainhunters.com http://www.greenhouseseeds.nl Facebook http://facebook.com/greenhouseseeds & http://facebook.com/strainhunters.official Music by: Marlon Parkes aka Bobo Shanty https://marlonparkes.wordpress.com/ Here we go again! We board a flight from Amsterdam and in 9 hours we are in the Caribbean. After a layover of just a couple of hours on Curacao, we fly on to Jamaica. We land in Kingston around 11 am local time. The air is hot, but not too humid. We have a 3 hours layover, so we decide to get out of the airport and go have lunch in Port Royal, half an hour away on the coast. It's a bit of a ghost-town, once a very rich merchant harbor, destroyed at the end of the seventeenth century by a powerful earthquake. It looks like it never really recovered… We eat lunch in a small fish-restaurant, famous for its snapper. But I eat jerk chicken because I am picky with my fish, and the jerk-spices here are amazing! Of course we drink some Red Stripe beers, and Simon and myself decide it's time to find some weed. It does not take long before we hit the jackpot: literally on the side of the local Police station, along the seaside, there are some barracks and shacks; inside a group of Rastas is busy cleaning and chopping weed and rolling it up in small balls, using rolling papers as containers. We ask if we can buy some, and the guys are thrilled. It's cheap, less than 1 Euro per gram. But it's a bit bitter, very leafy, and we enjoy it just because it's been a while since we smoked in Amsterdam! Some of the Rastas in the back are smoking crack cocaine in a glass pipe, the smell is terribly sour. They ask if we like some, and we politely tell them we are just here for the ganja; they nod, and scream "Jah Rastafari"! We sit and smoke a joint with them, and chat a bit about the local weed, and the cops. It's incredible that this is all happening next to the Police station. We leave as soon as the joint is over, and we go back to the restaurant to join the rest of the crew. It's time to get back to the airport and catch a Jamaican Airlines flight to Montego Bay, where our local contacts are waiting. The flight is really short, under half hour, and we arrive in MoBay before sunset. Bigga, Shanti, Nampo and Taleban are waiting for us and it's great to see them again; Arjan and myself spent some crazy days with these guys not long ago, during our scouting trips on the island. These guys are a tight crew, and they are going to take care of us during the next days of this filming trip. Nampo is a older Rasta, wise man, with lots of contacts and very respected. Taleban, his friend, is a grower and a smuggler, a real pirate and one of the funniest guys we ever had with us during our expeditions. Bigga is our driver/bodyguard, he's a man of the road and he knows who and what you need to know to keep us safe. Shanti is a local singer, a reggae artist with an amazing talent and a great personality. I know him since he was 10 years old, back in 1994, when I spent a few weeks near where he lived with his father (the man supplying me with fine herb at the time). It was really special to find Shanti during our scouting trips back in July, he's now a grown up man… and I am getting old! Shanti will come along and make sure the soundtrack of our travels is inspiring and inspired. We get the cars, two Toyota Fortuner, and we load up the mountain of gear we are carrying. Then we drive down to Negril in the sunset light, and when we arrive it's already dark. We decide to spend the first night at the Blue Cave Castle, a really cozy place on the rocky cliffs of Negril. It's another true 1994-flashback for me, this is one of the places where I stayed when I was a 20-years-old ganja-traveler, already a Strain Hunter without knowing it…. Of course to make the flashback even more intense the same room where I slept then is available, so I take it. It still looks the same. We are tired from the long travel, and we decide to go for some food. Unfortunately the chef is sick, so we decide to find something not too far away. We hit a jerk-chicken stand by the side of the road and we eat like there's no tomorrow. After a few Red Stripes and a few joints we go back to the hotel, where we smoke some good amount of high-grade weed, and some "gum", the local finger-hash. The weed is definitely an indica-cross, it tastes sweet and strong, and they say it's from a site not too far from where we are. We make a plan for tomorrow, and we go to sleep. Jamaica is great. It's a true privilege to be here again. Jah Bless! And now we are back with MisterX pics, the man is a true artist..... enjoy! what are some Jamaican business opportunities?

subscribe, comment and share twitter: @profitdrive facebook: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Profit-Drive/1436786009890018 Jamaican Business Opportunities This tradenote suggests that there are various other sectors experiencing import surges which will become imminently endangered in global value chains if there is no strategy to improve profitability of the players. Jamaica-based importers spent US$6.6bn in 2012, making the country the largest import market in the Caribbean trade bloc known as CARICOM . Jamaica was a small market as it was ranked the 120th largest global import market in 2012. Jamaica was also a sluggish market. Whereas global trade expanded by 6% annually between 2008 and 2012, Jamaica's import spending actually contracted by 3% annually over this period. Jamaica's imports are heavily energy centred as the top three imports are energy related. Mineral fuels, oils, distillation products accounted for US$2.4 bn (or over one-third) of the US$6.6bn import bill in 2012 (see table 1). Specifically, the product other petroleum oils and preps was the top import in 2012 followed by petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals, crude and light petroleum oils and preps.

Strain Hunters Jamaica Expedition (Full Length)

Jah Bless! And now we are back with MisterX pics, the man is a true artist..... enjoy! Jamaica

Put on your sun tan lotion and block the sun
    'Cause you're in Jamaica
Sensational quality from the greens to the tapestry
South central the beaches are so tropical
I wish I could go there and see the sites
And buy some things In Jamaica
You don't have to go far to find
    So many friendly faces
And the beaches are dangerous after midnight
    After midnight
Put on your sun tan lotion and block the sun
    'Cause you're in Jamaica
Sensational quality from the greens to the tapestry
South central the beaches are so tropical
    So tropical
