Toulouse (UK /tuːˈluːz/;French pronunciation: [tu.luz] locally: [tuˈluzə]; Occitan: Tolosa [tuˈluzɔ], Latin: Tolosa) is the capital city of the southwestern French department of Haute-Garonne, as well as of the Midi-Pyrénées region. It lies on the banks of the River Garonne, 150 kilometres (93 miles) from the Mediterranean Sea, 230 km (143 mi) from the Atlantic Ocean, and 680 km (420 mi) from Paris. With 1,250,251 inhabitants at the January 2011 census, the Toulouse metropolitan area is the fourth-largest in France, after Paris (12.3 million), Lyon (2.2 million), and Marseille (1.7 million).
Toulouse is the centre of the European aerospace industry, with the headquarters of Airbus, the Galileo positioning system, the SPOT satellite system, the Airbus Group (former EADS), ATR and the Aerospace Valley.
The city also hosts the European headquarters of Intel and CNES's Toulouse Space Centre (CST), the largest space centre in Europe.Thales Alenia Space, and Astrium Satellites, Airbus Group's satellite system subsidiary, also have a significant presence in Toulouse. Its world-renowned university is one of the oldest in Europe (founded in 1229) and, with more than 103,000 students, is the fourth-largest university campus of France after Paris, Lyon and Lille.
France (French: [fʁɑ̃s]), officially the French Republic (French: République française [ʁepyblik fʁɑ̃sɛz]), is a sovereign state comprising territory in western Europe and several overseas regions and territories. The European part of France, called metropolitan France, extends from the Mediterranean Sea to the English Channel and the North Sea, and from the Rhine to the Atlantic Ocean. France spans 643,801 square kilometres (248,573 sq mi) and has a total population of 66.6 million. It is a unitary semi-presidential republic with the capital in Paris, the country's largest city and main cultural and commercial centre. The Constitution of France establishes the state as secular and democratic, with its sovereignty derived from the people.
During the Iron Age, what is now Metropolitan France was inhabited by the Gauls, a Celtic people. The Gauls were conquered in 51 BC by the Roman Empire, which held Gaul until 486. The Gallo-Romans faced raids and migration from the Germanic Franks, who dominated the region for hundreds of years, eventually creating the medieval Kingdom of France. France emerged as a major European power in the Late Middle Ages, with its victory in the Hundred Years' War (1337 to 1453) strengthening French state-building and paving the way for a future centralized absolute monarchy. During the Renaissance, France experienced a vast cultural development and established the beginning of a global colonial empire. The 16th century was dominated by religious civil wars between Catholics and Protestants (Huguenots).
Places to Visit is an Extended Play released by British group Saint Etienne in May 1999. It showed the band moving toward the experimental electronic sound that they perfected on their next official full-length, 2000's Sound of Water.
Originally released in 1999 in the US only on Sub Pop, German label Bungalow released a vinyl version in 2000. The German release included as a bonus track "Garage for Gunther", the B-side to "52 Pilot".
The EP appeared in its entirety on the second disc of the 2009 deluxe edition reissue of Sound of Water, also marking the first UK release of the tracks.
"Sadie's Anniversary" and "Half Timbered" are tracks omitted from the Misadventures Of Margaret soundtrack. Sadie is incidentally the name of the band's longtime backing singer's daughter. Debsey, the backing singer, has been with the band since the early days of them performing live. She is also Sarah Cracknell's sister-in-law.
"We're in the City" is featured in the 1999 film But I'm a Cheerleader.

March 2016, I was able to capture some of the interesting parts of Toulouse, France. It's a pretty small city with typical European styles.
It's my first time in Toulouse, France. And I couldn't help but notice all the slight differences (aka WEIRD THINGS) over there. Yup, be prepared too lose some weight...not because you need to (although you probably do) but because of practicality! How do you do that you may ask? Well the WEST work out and the French smoke. Luckily I'm from the East/Asia. Among all of these new discoveries, there are some PRETTY COOL Thumbs UP (i.e. alcoholic mouthwash...what, don't judge, all mouthwash contain alcohol anyways, well most of them). Alright enough blabing. TRAVEL AWAY! ENJOY! M

Hey yall, Last year I was inducted into the Chairman's Club at work. It's the highest recognition one can receive. I was peer nominated, vetted and chosen as an honoree. A part of the "winning package" was a trip to pick up our newest aircraft from the Airbus facility in Toulouse, France. We toured downtown Toulouse, Cite de Carcassone, and Chateau de Pennautier winery. I ate duck... a lot of duck. Anyway, journey with me, live like an honoree for 16 minutes!!! Toulouse Travel Video - Elegantly situated at the confluence of the Canal du Midi and the River Garonne, the vibrant southern city of Toulouse is often known as La Ville Rose, a reference to the distinctive hot-pink stone used to build many of its buildings. Busy, buzzy and bustling with students, this riverside dame has a 2000-year history, but it's a city with its feet very much in the future: it's been a hub for the aerospace industry since the 1930s, and is leading France's drive towards cleaner, greener energies. It's also a city that lives or dies by the fortunes of its rugby team, Stade Toulousain (known simply as 'les rouges et noirs', the reds and blacks), who have won the European Cup a record four times, most recently in 2010. With a thriving cafe and cultural scene, a wealth o...

Take a tour of Canal du Midi in Toulouse, France -- part of the World's Greatest Attractions travel video series by GeoBeats. Flowing for 150 miles through the south of France is the breathtakingly serene Canal du Midi. The origin of the name comes from an Occitan phrase that means the canal of the two seas. This is because the Canal du Midi joins with the Canal de Garonne to connect the Atlantic Ocean to the Mediterranean Sea. The canal flows through the city of Toulouse and has a series of 91 locks. There are many paths along its bank that allow walkers and bikers to enjoy the canal along with boaters. The canal is lined with trees for much of its length, making it an incredibly scenic place to spend a day, or several.

LOGICAL REVOLTS A FILM BY LOUIS HENDERSON A LE FRESNOY PRODUCTION "Trying to think the revolution is like waking up and trying to see the logic in a dream." TEXT FROM CPH:DOX CATALOGUE 2012: Chris Marker and Edward Saïd are the spiritual influences of 'Logical Revolts', which is introduced by and named after a furious poem by Rimbaud. After having found an old, never realised film script about the Suez crisis in 1956, the filmmaker Henderson travels to Cairo with the film script as his guide. But all of this, however, is told through a friend, who receives his increasingly disillusioned travel diary by mail in the form of film clips, revolutionary slogans and old postcards (whose coloured motifs, as the intangible Henderson puts it, is the most real picture we can have of a place). He f...
