Today we take a tasty street food tour around Myeongdong, the famous shopping district of Seoul, South Korea. Hope you have a big appetite because there are a ton of dishes to bite into, including skewered fishcakes (핫바/hot bar) and spicy rice cakes (떡볶이/tteokbokki). In this travel vlog we eat kimchi pancakes (김치전/kimchi jeon), blood sausages (순대/sundae), egg bread with nuts (계란빵/gyeranbbang), seafood pancakes (해물전/haemuljeon), ice cream in fish-shaped bread (허붕/huhboong) and more! Watch to see the yummy adventure unfold :)

안녕하세요 여러분! Hello everyone! Day 2 in Seoul saw my mum and I do lots of shopping and return to Myeongdong again, because yesterday we only saw it at night. It was yet another incredible day experiencing and exploring new things and places, and I also just want to say a huge thank you to every single person who has sent their well wishes. It can get pretty crowded but the lively atmosphere really represents the whole of Seoul :D

Myeong-dong
Myeongdong (Hangul: 명동; hanja: 明洞, literally 'bright cave' or 'bright tunnel) is a dong in Jung-gu, Seoul, South Korea between Chungmu-ro, Eulji-ro, and Namdaemun-ro. It covers 0.99 km² with a population of 3,409 and is mostly a commercial area, being one of Seoul's main shopping and tourism districts.
In 2011, 2012 and 2013, Myeong-dong was listed as the ninth most expensive shopping street in the world. The area is known for its two historically significant sites, namely the Myeongdong Cathedral and the Myeongdong Nanta Theatre.
History
Myeongdong dates back to the Joseon Dynasty when it was called Myeongryebang (Hangul: 명례방; hanja: 明禮坊) and mostly a residential area. During the Japanese era the name was changed to Myeongchijeong (Hangul: 명치정; hanja: 明治町, Meijicho in Japanese pronunciation) and became more of a commercial district, being influenced by the rising commerce in the neighboring Chungmuro area. It became the official district of Myeongdong in 1946, after independence.

Street food
Street food is ready-to-eat food or drink sold by a hawker, or vendor, in a street or other public place, such as at a market or fair. It is often sold from a portable food booth,food cart, or food truck and meant for immediate consumption. Some street foods are regional, but many have spread beyond their region of origin. Most street foods are classed as both finger food and fast food, and are cheaper on average than restaurant meals. According to a 2007 study from the Food and Agriculture Organization, 2.5 billion people eat street food every day.
Today, people may purchase street food for a number of reasons, such as to get flavorful food for a reasonable price in a sociable setting, to experience ethnic cuisines, or for nostalgia.
History
Small fried fish were a street food in ancient Greece, however, Theophrastus held the custom of street food in low regard. Evidence of a large number of street food vendors were discovered during the excavation of Pompeii. Street food was widely consumed by poor urban residents of ancient Rome whose tenement homes did not have ovens or hearths. Here, chickpea soup with bread and grain paste were common meals. In ancient China, street food generally catered to the poor, however, wealthy residents would send servants to buy street food and bring it back for them to eat in their homes.

I went to Seoul, Korea alone because Mr.Whale - my boyfie went there a month before for internship. Of course, he’s going to be my tour guide! :D So, these are the places he brought me. Day 1- Sinchon, Ewha Womans University, Dongdaemun Design Plaza, Heunginjimun Gate, Cheonggyecheon River. Day 2- Dongdaemun Design Plaza (again because we were too late in day 1, most of the shop closed), Myeongdong, Han River Night Market [Every Friday] (highly recommend***) Besides Myeongdong is a “Shopping Paradise”, Dongdaemun as well. Dongdaemun’s shopping malls are open for 24 hours!!! We stayed at Seoul for 12 days. I'm back in Seoul! This time I will show you all the popular touristic places along with all the detailed information you would need (in the video and in the description box). You can just follow my itinerary and you would be able to hit all the important sights without wasting any time! I also included time stamps in the video to help you plan better. I went at a slower pace this time (we left our hotel after 11am each morning, took our time at each place and did lots of shopping) so you can definitely add more places if you want to see more in Seoul!

Day 1- Sinchon, Ewha Womans University, Dongdaemun Design Plaza, Heunginjimun Gate, Cheonggyecheon River.
Day 2- Dongdaemun Design Plaza (again because we were too late in day 1, most of the shop closed), Myeongdong, Han River Night Market [Every Friday] (highly recommend***)
Besides Myeongdong is a “Shopping Paradise”, Dongdaemun as well. Dongdaemun’s shopping malls are open for 24 hours!!!
