Carousel

A carousel (American English: from French carrousel and Italian carosello), roundabout (British English), or merry-go-round, is an amusement ride consisting of a rotating circular platform with seats for riders. The "seats" are traditionally in the form of rows of wooden horses or other animals mounted on posts, many of which are moved up and down by gearwork to simulate galloping, to the accompaniment of looped circus music. This leads to one of the alternative names in American English, the galloper. Other popular names are jumper, horseabout and flying horses.

Carousels are commonly populated with horses, each horse weighing roughly 100 lbs (45 kg), but may include diverse varieties of mounts, like pigs, zebras, tigers, or mythological creatures such as dragons or unicorns. Sometimes, chairlike or benchlike seats are used as well, and occasionally mounts can be shaped like airplanes or cars.

In a playground, a roundabout or merry-go-round is usually a simple, child-powered rotating platform with bars or handles to which children can cling while riding.

Go Round (song)

"Go Round" (released with "Yeah-Oh" as "Go Round/Yeah-Oh") is a song by Japanese recording artist Namie Amuro from her tenth studio album Uncontrolled (2012). It was released as a double a-side single with another album track "Yeah-Oh" and was served as the fourth single on March 21, 2012 by Avex Trax. "Go Round" was written by Aili, produced by T-Sk and co-composed by Tesung Kim and Australian duo Nervo. With a cover sleeve, photographed by Takaki Kumada, showing Amuro in front of a blurry window pane, "Go Round" was recorded both in English and Japanese language and is a dance-pop song.

"Go Round" received mixed reviews from music critics, many whom highlighted it from the parent album and commended the composition while some felt the production and lyrics were generic and regressive. Charting in conjunction with "Yeah-Oh", the double a-side reached number four on the Japanese Oricon Singles Chart and was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ). Both songs charted on the Japan Hot 100 and the Taiwanese Singles Chart respectively, and were both certified gold for digital sales. For promotion, an accompanying music video was shot for the single and has been performed on two concert tours by Amuro.

Merry Go 'Round (Kacey Musgraves song)

"Merry Go 'Round" is the debut single from American country music artist Kacey Musgraves. It was released in September 2012 as the lead single from Musgraves' debut album Same Trailer Different Park. Musgraves co-wrote and co-produced the song with Shane McAnally, with additional writing from Josh Osborne and production assistance from Luke Laird.

"Merry Go Round" won the Grammy Award for Best Country Song at the 56th Grammy Awards.

Content

The song is a cynical observation on life in rural America. It is a first-person view from a woman who deals with various troubles with modern life. The chorus, "Momma's hooked on Mary Kay, brother's hooked on Mary Jane, and daddy's hooked on Mary two doors down" provides a simple but effective view on the woman's family and life, using the rhyme of "merry/mary/marry" as a play-on-words, later stating her life is a "Merry-go-round" and stating that couples tend to get married out of boredom. It also uses samples of the nursery rhyme Mary, Mary, Quite Contrary as a continued play-on-words. The latter part of the song retells another traditional nursery rhyme, Jack and Jill, in a modernized fashion. It is in the key of F-sharp major, in a 2/2 time signature with an approximate tempo of 88 beats per minute. The song's main accompaniment is guitar and banjo.

Dig Me Out

Dig Me Out is the third studio album by the American rock band Sleater-Kinney, released on April 8, 1997 by Kill Rock Stars. The album was produced by John Goodmanson and recorded from December 1996 to January 1997 at John and Stu's Place in Seattle, Washington. Dig Me Out marked the debut of Janet Weiss, who is the band's longest serving and current drummer. The music on the record was influenced by traditional rock and roll bands, while the lyrics deal with issues of heartbreak and survival.

Two singles were released in support of the album: "One More Hour" and "Little Babies". The title track "Dig Me Out" peaked at number six on the KEXP Top 90.3 Album Chart in 1997 without being released as a single. The album received substantial acclaim from music critics, who praised the album's energy and feminist lyrics. Dig Me Out is included on several publications' best album lists. In 2003, Rolling Stone ranked it number 272 on its list of The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

Kacey Musgraves

Kacey Lee Musgraves (born August 21, 1988) is an American singer and songwriter. She self-released three albums before appearing on the fifth season of the USA Network's singing competition Nashville Star in 2007, where she placed seventh. She signed to Mercury Nashville in 2012 and has released two critically acclaimed albums on the label, Same Trailer Different Park (2013) and Pageant Material (2015). Musgraves later announced dates for her new tour 'The Kacey Musgraves Country & Western Rhinestone Revue' which began August 27, 2015 in Atlanta and wrapping in Amsterdam on November 22. Many tour stops were sold out so on January 11, 2016 Musgraves announced the 2nd leg of the tour which begins January 21, 2016 through April 22, 2016 respectively.

Early life

Musgraves was born in Golden, Texas. She began songwriting at the age of eight, when she wrote a song called "Notice Me" for her elementary school graduation. She first learned to play music on the mandolin, and then began at age 12 started taking guitar lessons from a local musician named John DeFoore, and later described it as "one of the most important things that ever happened to me". Musgraves first got her start in the country music industry at the age of 18, when she would record demos to make money. Her mother would take her to local music festivals to sing western swing music.
