Liu Shishi

Liu Shishi (born March 10, 1987 in Beijing, China), also known by her English name Cecilia Liu, is a Chinese actress and ballerina. Liu Shishi is currently contracted with CES. In May 2012, she was nominated for, and won the "Magnolia Award" (白玉蘭獎) for the most popular actress for her role in Chinese time-travel drama Scarlet Heart. Liu Shishi acknowledged now-husband Nicky Wu on 13 November 2013 after the pair met on set in Scarlet Heart in 2011. Liu Shishi is now married to Taiwanese actor, Nicky Wu on 20 January 2015 when Nicky uploaded a picture of their two red marriage certificates and two wedding rings on Weibo.

Biography

Having been trained in ballet at the Beijing Dance Academy, Liu Shishi made her acting debut on the television drama series The Moon and the Wind (2005) in a leading role. She received acclaim for her performances in The Young Warriors (2006) and The Fairies of Liaozhai (2007). She rose to fame for her role as Mu Nianci in The Legend of the Condor Heroes (2008), and guest starred as her character's descendant in The Heaven Sword and Dragon Saber (2009). Her role as Long Kui in Chinese Paladin 3 broke her previous typecasting as a "gentle, kind, and understanding maiden" and in A Weaver on the Horizon as the Song dynasty's princess, Zhao Jiayi. The portrayal for her character's gradual development from unruliness to maturity, gave both fans and critics a taste of her versatility and growing competence in challenging roles.

Fashion week

A fashion week is a fashion industry event, lasting approximately one week, wherein fashion designers, brands or "houses" display their latest collections in runway shows to buyers and the media. Most importantly, these events let the industry know what's "in" and what's "out" for the season.

The most prominent fashion weeks are held in the fashion capitals of the world, the "big four" receiving the majority of press coverage being New York, London, Milan and Paris. Other notable weeklong fashion events are held in cities around the world.

History

There are many fashion weeks worldwide. In 1943, the first New York Fashion Week was held, with one main purpose: to distract attention from French fashion during World War II, when workers in the fashion industry were unable to travel to Paris. This was an opportune moment, as "before World War II, American designers were thought to be reliant on French couture for inspiration."

The fashion publicist Eleanor Lambert organized an event she called "Press Week" to showcase American designers for fashion journalists, who had previously ignored their works. Press Week was a success, and, as a result, magazines like Vogue (which were normally filled with French designs) began to feature more and more American innovations. Until 1994, shows were held in different locations, such as hotels, or lofts. Eventually, after a structural accident at a Michael Kors show, the event moved to Bryant Park, behind the New York Public Library, where it remained until 2010, when the shows relocated to Lincoln Center.

Cecilia

Cecilia, which is the name of Saint Cecilia, the patron saint of music, has been a consistently used name in the United States, where it has ranked among the top 500 names for girls for more than 100 years. It was the 274th most popular name for American girls born in 2007. It was the 317th most popular given name for women and girls in the United States census of 1990. It also ranked among the top 100 names for girls born in Sweden in the early years of the 21st century.

Startling by Each Step, also known as Bubu Jingxin (Chinese: 步步驚心), was Tong Hua's debut novel. Originally published online in 2005 on Jinjiang Original Network (晉江原創網), it was later published by Ocean Press (海洋出版社), National Press (民族出版社), Huashan Arts Press (花山文藝出版社), Hunan Literature and Art Publishing House (湖南文藝出版社), and Yeren Culture Publishing (野人文化出版社). Tong Hua revised the novel in 2009 and 2011. The latest edition contained an additional 30,000 word epilogue.

Synopsis

Twenty-first century woman, Zhang Xiao, encountered traffic collision after work that sent her back in time to the Qing Dynasty during the Kangxi Emperor's reign (in the year 1704). She found herself trapped in the body of a young daughter of a Manchu aristocrat, Ma'ertai Ruoxi, younger sister of Ma'ertai Ruolan, who was a concubine of the emperor's eighth son, Yinsi. Stranded in the past, Ruoxi acquainted with Kangxi's other sons, including the fourth prince Yinzhen and his full brother, the fourteenth prince Yinti. She forged a close friendship with the thirteenth prince, Yinxiang. Using charm and wit, Ruoxi won the emperor’s favor and became his lady-in-waiting, attending to the monarch and his family.

Nicky Wu

Nicholas "Nicky" Wu (born October 31, 1970) is a Taiwanese singer and actor. He found fame in 1988 when he became a member of the boy band, Xiao Hu Dui (Little Tiger Team), performing alongside Alec Su and Julian Chen. The trio were extremely popular and successful in Taiwan, selling many records in the process. During his time with Little Tigers Team, he pursued a solo career, releasing an extensive catalogue of songs, Mandarin and Cantonese albums as a solo artist when member Julian Chen left the group to serve compulsory military service. Wu released his debut solo album in 1992.

After the break-up of the Little Tigers Team in 1995, Wu continued his solo career and embarked on a career in acting. Since then, his career has expanded into film and television in Taiwan, Hong Kong and mainland China.

Wu married Chinese actress Ma Yashu in 2006. They filed for divorce in 2009. Nicky married his Scarlet Heart co-star Liu Shishi on 20 January 2015.

Career

In 1988, Wu was spotted by an entertainment agent, and after an audition he was chosen to be part of the Little Tigers Team and given the nickname of "Pilihu" (霹靂虎; Thunderbolt Tiger). The group quickly became successful throughout Asia but disbanded due to one member's compulsory military service requirement. Wu continued solo, and began singing and acting in Taiwan and Hong Kong.
