Cretaceous–Paleogene (K–Pg) extinction event, also known as the Cretaceous–Tertiary (K–T) extinction, was a mass extinction of some three-quarters of the plant and animal species on Earth—including all non-avian dinosaurs—that occurred over a geologically short period of time, 66 million years ago. It marked the end of the Cretaceous period and with it, the entire Mesozoic Era, opening the Cenozoic Era that continues today.
In the geologic record, the K–Pg event is marked by a thin layer of sediment called the K–Pg boundary, which can be found throughout the world in marine and terrestrial rocks. The boundary clay shows high levels of the metal iridium, which is rare in the Earth's crust but abundant in asteroids.
As originally proposed by a team of scientists led by Luis Alvarez, it is now generally believed that the K–Pg extinction was triggered by a massive comet or asteroid impact 66 million years ago and its catastrophic effects on the global environment, including a lingering impact winter that made it impossible for plants and plankton to carry out photosynthesis. The impact hypothesis was bolstered by the discovery of the 180-kilometre-wide (112 mi) Chicxulub crater in the Gulf of Mexico in the early 1990s, which provided conclusive evidence that the K–Pg boundary clay represented debris from an asteroid impact. The fact that the extinctions occurred at the same time as the impact provides strong situational evidence that the K–Pg extinction was caused by the asteroid. It was possibly accelerated by the creation of the Deccan Traps. However, some scientists maintain the extinction was caused or exacerbated by other factors, such as volcanic eruptions, climate change, or sea level change, separately or together.
The Family Federation for World Peace and Unification, founded as the Holy Spirit Association for the Unification of World Christianity, and commonly called the Unification Church or Unificationism, is a new religious movement founded in South Korea in 1954 by Sun Myung Moon. Since its founding, the church has expanded throughout the world with most members living in Korea, Japan, the Philippines, and other nations in East Asia. It has sponsored other organizations and projects over the years; including businesses, news media, projects in education and the arts, and political and social activism. The church was led by Moon until his death on September 3, 2012. Since then, his widow Hak Ja Han has assumed the leadership of the church.
Unificationist beliefs are derived from the Christian Bible and are explained in the church's textbook, the Divine Principle. It teaches that God is the Creator and Heavenly Parent, whose dual nature combines both masculinity and femininity and whose center is true love. The Blessing ceremony of the Unification Church, a wedding or wedding vow renewal ceremony, is a church tradition which has attracted wide public attention. The church has engaged in interfaith activities with other religions, including mainstream Christianity and Islam, despite theological differences.
The Moeraki Boulders are unusually large and spherical boulders lying along a stretch of Koekohe Beach on the wave-cut Otago coast of New Zealand between Moeraki and Hampden. They occur scattered either as isolated or clusters of boulders within a stretch of beach where they have been protected in a scientific reserve. The erosion by wave action of mudstone, comprising local bedrock and landslides, frequently exposes embedded isolated boulders. These boulders are grey-colored septarian concretions, which have been exhumed from the mudstone enclosing them and concentrated on the beach by coastal erosion.
Local Māori legends explained the boulders as the remains of eel baskets, calabashes, and kumara washed ashore from the wreck of Arai-te-uru, a large sailing canoe. This legend tells of the rocky shoals that extend seaward from Shag Point as being the petrified hull of this wreck and a nearby rocky promontory as being the body of the canoe's captain. In 1848 W.B.D. Mantell sketched the beach and its boulders, more numerous than now. The picture is now in the Alexander Turnbull Library in Wellington. The boulders were described in 1850 colonial reports and numerous popular articles since that time. In more recent times they have become a popular tourist attraction, often described and pictured in web pages and tourist guides.
Earth /ˈɜːrθ/ (also the world, in Greek: Γαῖα Gaia, or in Latin: Terra) is the third planet from the Sun, the densest planet in the Solar System, the largest of the Solar System's four terrestrial planets, and the only astronomical object known to harbor life.
According to evidence from radiometric dating and other sources, Earth was formed about 4.54 billion years ago. Earth gravitationally interacts with other objects in space, especially the Sun and the Moon. During one orbit around the Sun, Earth rotates about its own axis 366.26 times, creating 365.26 solar days or one sidereal year. Earth's axis of rotation is tilted 23.4° away from the perpendicular of its orbital plane, producing seasonal variations on the planet's surface with a period of one tropical year (365.24 solar days). The Moon is Earth's only permanent natural satellite. Its gravitational interaction with Earth causes ocean tides, stabilizes the orientation of Earth's rotational axis, and gradually slows Earth's rotational rate.
One hundred million (100,000,000) is the natural number following 99999999 and preceding 100000001.
In scientific notation, it is written as 108.
East Asian languages treat 100,000,000 as a counting unit, significant as the square of a myriad, also a counting unit. In Chinese, Japanese, and Korean respectively it is yì (億) (or wànwàn 萬萬 in ancient texts), oku (億), and eok (억/億). These languages do not have single words for a thousand to the second, third, fifth power, etc.)

Sixty-five million years ago the last of the non-avian dinosaurs went extinct. So too did the giant mosasaurs and plesiosaurs in the seas and the pterosaurs in the skies. Plankton, the base of the ocean food chain, took a hard hit. Many families of brachiopods and sea sponges disappeared. The remaining hard-shelled ammonites vanished. Shark diversity shriveled. Most vegetation withered. In all, more than half of the world's species were obliterated. What caused this mass extinction that marks the end of the Cretaceous and the beginning of the Paleogene? Scientists have yet to find an answer. The one that does must explain why these animals died while most mammals, turtles, crocodiles, salamanders, and frogs survived. Birds escaped. So did snails, bivalves, sea stars (starfish), and sea ur...
Armageddon (1998) Starring: Bruce Willis, Ben Affleck, Liv Tyler Directed by Michael Bay, Ken Bates
Dinosaurs - rulers of Earth for 160 million years - all died within days of a giant explosion, scientists said yesterday. An asteroid the size of the Isle of Wight smashed into Mexico with a billion times more force than the Hiroshima A-bomb. A vast fireball swept debris into the atmosphere and within hours day turned to permanent night across the globe. As temperatures plummeted, all the large coldblooded reptiles like T-Rex rapidly died. But that gave small, better adapted warm-blooded mammals a chance to thrive, eventually leading to the evolution of mankind. A panel of 41 experts have re-created the effects of the impact 65 million years ago and have confirmed the theory that it wiped out most life. The panel analysed all the evidence gathered by experts in the past 20 year...
Here's a look at what might have caused the extinction of Dinosaurs approximately 65 million years ago.
1.Tyrannosaurus Rex (extinct 65 million years ago) Tyrannosaurus rex was one of the largest land carnivores of all time, measuring up to 43.3 feet long, and 16.6 ft tall, with an estimated mass that goes up to 7 tons. Like other tyrannosaurids, Tyrannosaurus was a bipedal carnivore with a massive skull balanced by a long, heavy tail. Relative to the large and powerful hindlimbs, Tyrannosaurus forelimbs were small and they retained only two digits. 2. Quagga: half zebra, half horse (extinct since 1883) One of Africa's most famous extinct animals, the quagga was a subspecies of the plains zebra, which was once found in great numbers in South Africa's Cape Province and the southern part of the Orange Free State. It was distinguished from other zebras by having the usual vivid marks on t...

They were also pack hunters built for speed, with long, slender limbs with retractable claws. They possessed binocular vision and semi-manipulative fingers, to easily grasp and hold on to prey, and had large serrated teeth that could saw through flesh and bone. An incredible video that not only proves that the earth is not millions of years old, but that dinosaurs lived with man since the beginning of creation a few thousand years ago. God created science as one of the many avenues so that we may discover him.
Earth's landmasses were not always what they are today. Continents formed as Earth's crustal plates shifted and collided over long periods of time. This video shows how today's continents are thought to have evolved over the last 600 million years, and where they'll end up in the next 100 million years. Paleogeographic Views of Earth's History provided by Ron Blakey, Professor of Geology, Northern Arizona University.
Super Comet - The longest night 65 million years ago the dinosaurs were wiped out by a gigantic asteroid. We could soon be next. We don't know when it will happen or where the asteroid will strike. We only know that it will happen - sometime - perhaps in 1000 years' time or perhaps tomorrow. Will it be the end of mankind? Through the eyes of a young astronomer we experience this catastrophic event. On discovering the asteroid on collision course with Earth, he tries to give a warning, but in vain. He survives, but this is just the beginning. The impact results in an eclipse of the sun leading to a global winter and the extinction of many life-forms. This documentary will depict the scientific background to the catastrophe, with all its consequences for mankind and the natural world. Thi...

Moeraki Boulders are huge, round rocks that you can find on Koekohe Beach betweeen Moeraki and Hampden on the South Island in New Zealand. These rocks were created on the bottom of the ocean during the Paleocene period, which was 57-65 million years ago. The round rocks are septarian concretions and have been formed roughly in the same way as pearls in Oysters are created. In oysters, it is a grain of sand that is the core and over time a pearl is created. The Moeraki Boulders have fossils or bone fragments as their core. Lime minerals accumulated over the core over time and it grew in to spherical shapes. The largest rocks are around 3 meter in diameter and weigh several tons. Erosion of the cliffs around Koekohe Beach, uncovered the boulders. The Moeraki Boulders are one of 101-must d...

ABSTRACT: For about 65 million years our primate ancestors consumed plant-dominated diets. Humans developed the technological ability to consume meat-based diets only about 2 million years ago, so at least 98 percent of the evolution producing our basic primate physiology occurred before this nutritional pattern emerged. Ninety-eight percent of the human genome is identical to the nearest primate relative, chimpanzees, who eat a 95 percent plant diet. Recent hunter-gatherers consume up to 20 times more meat than chimpanzees on a percent energy basis, a substantial deviation from the primate baseline. I show that, similar to other primates, humans retain many physiological and behavioral features displaying adaptation to a plant-based diet, some of which are potentially maladaptive for die...

I didn't come to kiss the bride
So don't seat me on either side
I just came by to see the show
I'm close enough, I'll stand right here
I can see and I can hear; course
I heard it all years ago.
I hear the organ play a minor melody
Is that the one they call their song
Church vows always, make love sound so easy
But "As long as you live" is so long.
I didn't come to kiss the bride
Nor come to call the groom outside, no
I can't stay and say hello
That's not the reason I came by
I came today to say goodbye to
Something that happened years ago.
I hear the organ play a minor melody
Is that the one they call their song
What God joined together, let no man put asunder
But He sure put us under, right or wrong?
Give the bride and groom my best
And tell her mom and all the rest that
I was here but really had to go
Reception line's too long outside, and
I didn't come to kiss the bride
I did all that years ago.
There's no reason I should stay
The groom won't shake hands anyway, and
