Retrospective (from Latin retrospectare, "look back") generally means to take a look back at events that already have taken place. As a noun, retrospective has specific meanings in medicine, software development, popular culture and the arts. It is applied as an adjective, synonymous with the term retroactive, to laws, standards, and awards.
A medical retrospective is an examination of a patient's medical history and lifestyle.
An retrospective exhibition presents works from an extended period of an artist's activity. Similarly, a retrospective compilation album is assembled from a recording artist's past material, usually their greatest hits. A television or newsstand special about an actor, politician, or other celebrity will present a retrospective of the subject's career highlights. A leading (usually elderly) academic may be honored with a Festschrift, an honorary book of articles or a lecture series relating topically to a retrospective of the honoree's career. Celebrity roasts good-naturedly mock the career of the guest of honor, often in a retrospective format.
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker (Japanese: ゼルダの伝説 風のタクト, Hepburn: Zeruda no Densetsu: Kaze no Takuto), is an action-adventure game and the tenth installment in The Legend of Zelda series. Developed by Nintendo Entertainment Analysis & Development and published by Nintendo, it was released for the GameCube video game console in Japan on December 13, 2002; in North America on March 24, 2003; in Europe on May 2, 2003; and in Australia on May 7, 2003.
The game is set on a group of islands in a vast sea—a first for the series. The player controls Link, the central protagonist of the Zelda series. He struggles against the evil king, Ganondorf, for control of a sacred relic known as the Triforce. Link spends a large portion of the game sailing, traveling between islands, and traversing dungeons and temples to gain the power necessary to defeat Ganondorf. He also spends time trying to find his younger sister, Aryll.
The Wind Waker follows in the footsteps of Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask, retaining the basic gameplay and control system found in the two Nintendo 64 titles. A heavy emphasis is placed on controlling wind with a baton called the Wind Waker, which aids in sailing and floating in air. Though controversial during development for its cel-shaded art style and younger incarnation of Link, The Wind Waker was met with critical acclaim. A direct sequel, The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, was released for the Nintendo DS starting in June 2007; a high-definition remake, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD, was released for the Wii U in 2013.
Alien 3 (stylized as ALIEN3) is a 1992 American science-fiction horror film and the debut feature film of director David Fincher. The film is the third installment of the Alien film series. The film takes place after the events of Aliens (1986). An escape pod from the Colonial Marine spaceship Sulaco crash-lands on a prison-run refinery planet, killing everyone aboard except Lieutenant Ellen Ripley (Sigourney Weaver). Unknown to Ripley, an Alien organism was also aboard the escape pod. The Alien organism begins a killing spree in the prison.
The film had a difficult production, with various screenwriters and directors getting involved in the project, and shooting began without a finished script. The film was the big-budget debut of a young David Fincher, who was brought into the project after a proposed version with Vincent Ward at the helm was cancelled well into pre-production. Fincher had little time to prepare, and the experience of making the film proved agonizing for him. Besides the need to shoot and rewrite the script simultaneously while fitting in sets that had already been built, filming was also plagued by incessant creative interference from studio executives, who overruled many of Fincher's decisions and dictated a large part of production. Fincher has since disowned the film, citing the aforementioned reasons. In 2003, a revised version of the film, known as the Assembly Cut, was released without Fincher's involvement.
Mario Kart (マリオカート, Mario Kāto) is a series of go-kart-style racing video games developed and published by Nintendo as spin-offs from its trademark Super Mario series. The first in the series, Super Mario Kart, was launched in 1992 on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System to critical and commercial success.
There have been five Mario Kart games released for home consoles, three portable games, and three Namco co-developed arcade games, for a total of eleven. The latest title in the series, Mario Kart 8, was released on Wii U in May 2014. The series has sold over 100 million copies worldwide to date.
The first title in the Mario Kart series is Super Mario Kart and was released for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1992. The development of the first game was overseen by Shigeru Miyamoto, the Japanese video game designer who helped create the original Super Mario Bros., as well as many other successful games for Nintendo. Darran Jones of NowGamer suggests that the original success of Super Mario Kart was the result of including characters previously seen in Mario Bros. games, while also being a new type of racing game.
Steve McCurry is an American editorial photographer best known for his photograph "Afghan Girl" which originally appeared in National Geographic magazine.
Steve McCurry attended Penn State University. He originally planned to study cinematography and filmmaking, but ended up getting a degree in theater arts and graduating in 1974. He became interested in photography when he started taking pictures for the Penn State newspaper The Daily Collegian.
After working at Today's Post in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania for two years, he left for India to freelance.
His career was launched when, disguised in native garb, he crossed the Pakistan border into rebel-controlled areas of Afghanistan just before the Soviet invasion. When he emerged, he had rolls of film sewn into his clothes. Those images, which were published around the world, were among the first to show the conflict. His coverage won the Robert Capa Gold Medal for Best Photographic Reporting from Abroad, an award dedicated to photographers exhibiting exceptional courage and enterprise.

"Retrospective" is a short round-trip, that takes one through places, moments, ways of life and social fabrics - whilst passing continents. This is a short edit with footage from my last projects. It gives a hint, on how diverse life can be, which is what I tried to carve out, with that first attempt. I welcome any feedback! Thank you for watching! Retrospective VFX & CG Reel. Collected clips from my work at Blur Studio. Since I decided to use only recent work, all my previous work on cell phone ads, commercials and frighteningly clean and ancient Arch Viz had to be left out....probably for the better. Sorry the credits are at the end, I wanted it to be more of a seamless video than a typical "demo reel". I didn't model or shade any of the characters or vehicles. I'm only really doing lighting, compositing, lookdev and modeling/shading environments (hence the breakdowns).
Called to you at night, called to you each day, till the voice of my mind grew weary
Hoping you'd hear my voice as clear as the visions of you I could see
A full Moon rose on a night of fear, I called and prayed you'd hear me
A gypsy Knight you sprang from the woods, brought me to sanctuary here
And then the curly-haired elfin boy smiled with his eyes like a child
Graceful his fingers they play on the strings, gentle the song that he sings
You tell me to rest then, prince though you be, you ask me what you can do
Food you bring me and drink and clothes but I should be giving to you
What have I to give but my songs and my love, my dreams are yours to share
Give you myself and part of my world for both of us offer one prayer
Bells soft ring in the breeze from the woods the last dying breath of a night
Sleepy birds bringing their trembling warning soon it will be daylight
Come, wake gentle elfin boy, let love fall once more, and then
Teach me your song for me to take to sing your dreams over again
And then the curly-haired elfin boy smiled with his eyes like a child
Graceful his fingers they play on the strings, gentle the song that he sings
