Lucy Alexis Liu /ˈluː/ (born Lucy Liu; December 2, 1968) is a Chinese-American actress, model and artist. She became known for playing the role of the vicious and ill-mannered Ling Woo in the television series Ally McBeal (1998–2002), for which she was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series and a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series.
Liu's film work includes starring as one of the heroines in Charlie's Angels (2000), playing O-Ren Ishii in Kill Bill (2003), and appearances in Payback (1999), Chicago (2002), and the animated series Kung Fu Panda (2008).
In 2008, she starred in an ABC comedy-drama, Cashmere Mafia, which ended after one abbreviated season. The show was one of only a few American television shows to have an Asian American series lead. In 2012, Liu joined the cast of the TNT series Southland in the recurring role of Jessica Tang, for which she won the Critics' Choice Television Award for Best Drama Guest Actress. She is currently co-starring in the Sherlock Holmes–inspired crime drama series Elementary as Joan Watson, and voicing Silvermist in Disney's Tinker Bell film series.
After Terry Crews demonstrates his musical talents on the flute, Lucy Liu busts out a split that would give any gymnast envy. Before Lucy Liu and Jonny Lee Miller were co-stars on "Elementary," she was one of Charlie's Angels, and he was a young computer geek in "Hackers." In "Elementary," Miller portrays a modern-day Sherlock Holmes, and Liu plays Dr. Joan Watson in the crime-solving drama. The actors join "CBS This Morning" to discuss the fifth season of the show.
For "Elementary," CBS' take on Sherlock Holmes, Watson is a woman, played by Lucy Liu, and she's not the dutiful notetaker Watson has been in other Holmesian incarnations. It's been a definite change from the rock-'em-sock-'em roles she's played in films like "Payback," "Charlie's Angels" and "Kill Bill." But Liu has also evolved into a director (helming several episodes of the series) and a mother. Mo Rocca visits with Liu, an actress, artist and advocate who says life today for her is much more rich and bold

"Marry Me" is the story of Rae Carter (Lucy Liu), a former artist now working as a social worker, who has always believed in the fairy-tale romance. But when her long-term relationship with boyfriend, Adam (Bobby Cannavale), falls apart, her beliefs are shaken. Despite her hesitance, Rae begins seeing a handsome man named Luke (Steven Pasquale), and without meaning to, quickly falls for him. The feeling is mutual, it appears, when Luke asks her to marry him after only a short time. But just as Rae begins to get comfortable with the idea of Luke as her Prince Charming, Adam re-enters her life and begs Rae to marry him. Memories & feelings
Happiness & dreams
You grow these flowers in my heart
(pause)
The letters dance before my eyes
The numbers seem to leave my mind
I walk above the ground, I'm feelin' special now
And even if the sun don't shine above
And even if the rain is fallin'
Down upon my soul
I wanna see you and ask for more
Memories & feelings
Happiness & dreams
You grow these flowers in my heart
I know memories & feelings
Everlasting healin'
I just keep them all inside
(pause)
Been waiting for an angel light
Been walkin' thru the darkest night
But then again I was livin' without you boy
And even if the sun don't shine above
And even if the rain is fallin'
Down upon my soul
I wanna see you and ask for more
Memories & feelings
Happiness & dreams
You grow these flowers in my heart
I know memories & feelings
Everlasting healin'
I just keep them all inside
