A colorful, fast-paced film that serves up a variety of hypnotic imagery from eye charts to kaleidoscopic wheels around Doom’s iconic, ever-rotating mask as its centerpiece, “Super Hero” is the wondrous result of Merc and Aardman Nathan Love leveraging creative synergy while indulging their mutual admiration for the musical talent involved. “Being a huge fan of both Kool Keith and MF Doom for years, and knowing our studio had capacity to help Kris out, we couldn’t NOT get involved,” recalls ANL Founder/Executive Creative Director, Joe Burrascano. “Kris was able to let his imagination run wild. ANL’s team of designers, 3D artists, and technical directors gave him all the support he needed to help shape his vision and make the final piece as strong and unique as possible.”
According to Merc, who’s helmed notable projects from music videos for hip-hop pioneers De La Soul to spots for HTC during his lengthy career, the “Super Hero” production afforded him the space to realize his vision of bending and manipulating pop aesthetics to create something altogether mysterious and otherworldly. “I wanted to capture something that felt like a visual pop travesty,” the director explains. “I wanted it to visually speak to the legacy of the artists, and Afrofuturism mixed with comic book concepts. I’m a fan of the unseen, and I was obsessed with the idea of using Doom’s mask and the iconography as a centralized point – as if time and space converged around these strange, sometimes magical tableaus and we were witnessing an ascension.”
To help develop his ambitious, imaginative concepts, Merc worked closely with Aardman Nathan Love in several key stages of production from ideation and design to technical aspects like compositing and rendering. “Our specialty lies mainly in CG character animation work, which typically involves a lot of careful planning and development work up front,” adds ANL CG Director Eric Cunha. “Kris has a very organic process, and is constantly finding inspiration for new and exciting ideas. The biggest challenge we faced was being able to respond to this constant flow of new ideas, and facilitate the growth of the piece. In the end, it was an exciting new challenge that pushed us to develop a new way of working that resulted in an amazing, visually fresh and creative piece of work.”

Keith Thornton (born October 7, 1966), better known by his stage name Kool Keith, is an American rapper from The Bronx, New York known for his surreal, abstract and often profane or incomprehensible lyrics. Kool Keith has recorded prolifically both as a solo artist and in group collaborations. Kool Keith is generally considered to be one of hip-hop's most eccentric and unusual personalities.
Kool Keith was a cofounding member of Ultramagnetic MCs, whose debut Critical Beatdown was released in 1988. After two more albums with the group, Funk Your Head Up and The Four Horsemen (album), Kool Keith released his critically acclaimed solo debut album, Dr. Octagonecologyst under the name Dr. Octagon in 1996. He subsequently released a series of further independently released hip hop albums, including Sex Style and First Come, First Served (as Dr. Dooom).
After releasing one album on a major label, Black Elvis/Lost in Space, Kool Keith subsequently returned to independently releasing music, producing further efforts as a solo artist and in collaboration with groups such as Analog Brothers, Masters of Illusion, Thee Undatakerz and Project Polaroid. Kool Keith has also made guest appearances in collaboration with Peeping Tom and Yeah Yeah Yeahs. The Prodigy's hit "Smack My Bitch Up" was based on a sample of Kool Keith's voice saying "change my pitch up, smack my bitch up like a pimp."

Lost in Space
Lost in Space is an American science fiction television series, following the adventures of a family of pioneering space colonists whose ship goes off course. It was created and produced by Irwin Allen, filmed by 20th Century Fox Television, and broadcast on CBS. The show ran for three seasons, with 83 episodes airing between 1965 to 1968 The first television season was filmed in black and white, with the second and third seasons filmed in color.
Though the original television series concept centered on the Robinson family, many later story lines focused primarily on Dr. Zachary Smith, played by Jonathan Harris. Smith, along with the Robot, was absent from the pilot as the addition of their characters was decided once the series had been commissioned for production. Originally written as an utterly evil but careless saboteur, Smith gradually becomes the troublesome, self-centered, incompetent foil who provides the comic relief for the show and causes most of the episodic conflict and misadventures. In the unaired pilot, what causes the group to become lost in space is a chance encounter with a meteor storm, but in the first aired episode, it is Smith's sabotage and unplanned presence on the ship that sets the ship off course into the meteor field. Smith is thus the key to the story.

Plot: The shape-shifting and enigmatic hip hop artist Kool Keith has managed to surprise, shock, and enrage fans and detractors alike with virtually every album he has released. His many personas include Dr. Octagon, under which he released 1996's DR. OCTAGONOCOLOGIST, a futuristic masterpiece that flouted traditional hip hop mores in favor of intriguingly disruptive, warped rhymes. A colorful, fast-paced film that serves up a variety of hypnotic imagery from eye charts to kaleidoscopic wheels around Doom’s iconic, ever-rotating mask as its centerpiece, “Super Hero” is the wondrous result of Merc and Aardman Nathan Love leveraging creative synergy while indulging their mutual admiration for the musical talent involved. “Being a huge fan of both Kool Keith and MF Doom for years, and knowing our studio had capacity to help Kris out, we couldn’t NOT get involved,” recalls ANL Founder/Executive Creative Director, Joe Burrascano. “Kris was able to let his imagination run wild. ANL’s team of designers, 3D artists, and technical directors gave him all the support he needed to help shape his vision and make the final piece as strong and unique as possible.”
According to Merc, who’s helmed notable projects from music videos for hip-hop pioneers De La Soul to spots for HTC during his lengthy career, the “Super Hero” production afforded him the space to realize his vision of bending and manipulating pop aesthetics to create something altogether mysterious and otherworldly. “I wanted to capture something that felt like a visual pop travesty,” the director explains. “I wanted it to visually speak to the legacy of the artists, and Afrofuturism mixed with comic book concepts. I’m a fan of the unseen, and I was obsessed with the idea of using Doom’s mask and the iconography as a centralized point – as if time and space converged around these strange, sometimes magical tableaus and we were witnessing an ascension.”
To help develop his ambitious, imaginative concepts, Merc worked closely with Aardman Nathan Love in several key stages of production from ideation and design to technical aspects like compositing and rendering. “Our specialty lies mainly in CG character animation work, which typically involves a lot of careful planning and development work up front,” adds ANL CG Director Eric Cunha. “Kris has a very organic process, and is constantly finding inspiration for new and exciting ideas. The biggest challenge we faced was being able to respond to this constant flow of new ideas, and facilitate the growth of the piece. In the end, it was an exciting new challenge that pushed us to develop a new way of working that resulted in an amazing, visually fresh and creative piece of work.”

http://www.vladtv.com - Kool Keith spoke on the impact of late rapper Tim Dog's "F*ck Compton" track, in this clip from his exclusive interview with VladTV. Keith recalled Tim wanting to make a controversial record just to stir up some publicity, so he created the track titled "F*ck Compton." According to Keith, Tim wasn't trying to specifically take legitimate shots at Compton and really stir up a beef, but was trying to paint clear pictures to get his message across about various street-related topics. Keith believes that "F*ck Compton" really had a strong impact and "left a big stain" on how West Coast rappers felt about it for a long time.

A colorful, fast-paced film that serves up a variety of hypnotic imagery from eye charts to kaleidoscopic wheels around Doom’s iconic, ever-rotating mask as its centerpiece, “Super Hero” is the wondrous result of Merc and Aardman Nathan Love leveraging creative synergy while indulging their mutual admiration for the musical talent involved. “Being a huge fan of both Kool Keith and MF Doom for years, and knowing our studio had capacity to help Kris out, we couldn’t NOT get involved,” recalls ANL Founder/Executive Creative Director, Joe Burrascano. “Kris was able to let his imagination run wild. ANL’s team of designers, 3D artists, and technical directors gave him all the support he needed to help shape his vision and make the final piece as strong and unique as possible.”
According to Merc, who’s helmed notable projects from music videos for hip-hop pioneers De La Soul to spots for HTC during his lengthy career, the “Super Hero” production afforded him the space to realize his vision of bending and manipulating pop aesthetics to create something altogether mysterious and otherworldly. “I wanted to capture something that felt like a visual pop travesty,” the director explains. “I wanted it to visually speak to the legacy of the artists, and Afrofuturism mixed with comic book concepts. I’m a fan of the unseen, and I was obsessed with the idea of using Doom’s mask and the iconography as a centralized point – as if time and space converged around these strange, sometimes magical tableaus and we were witnessing an ascension.”
To help develop his ambitious, imaginative concepts, Merc worked closely with Aardman Nathan Love in several key stages of production from ideation and design to technical aspects like compositing and rendering. “Our specialty lies mainly in CG character animation work, which typically involves a lot of careful planning and development work up front,” adds ANL CG Director Eric Cunha. “Kris has a very organic process, and is constantly finding inspiration for new and exciting ideas. The biggest challenge we faced was being able to respond to this constant flow of new ideas, and facilitate the growth of the piece. In the end, it was an exciting new challenge that pushed us to develop a new way of working that resulted in an amazing, visually fresh and creative piece of work.”
