New Brunswick (French: Nouveau-Brunswick; pronounced: [nu.vo.bʁœn.swik], Quebec French pronunciation: [nu.vo.bʁɔn.zwɪk]) is one of Canada's three Maritime provinces and is the only constitutionally bilingual (English–French) province. It was created as a result of the partitioning of the British Colony of Nova Scotia in 1784. Fredericton is the capital, Moncton is the largest metropolitan (CMA) area and Saint John is the most populous city. In the 2011 nationwide census, Statistics Canada estimated the provincial population to have been 751,171. The majority of the population is English-speaking, but there is also a large Francophone minority (33%), chiefly of Acadian origin. The flag features a ship superimposed on a yellow background with a yellow lion above it.
The province is named for the city of Braunschweig, known in English as Brunswick, located in modern-day Lower Saxony in northern Germany (and also the former duchy of the same name). The then-colony was named in 1784 to honour the reigning British monarch, George III. Braunschweig is the ancestral home of the British monarch George I and his successors (the House of Hanover).
Fredericton (/ˈfrɛdrɪktən/) is the capital of the Canadian province of New Brunswick. The city is situated in the west-central portion of the province along the Saint John River, which flows west to east as it bisects the city; it is the dominant natural feature of the area. One of the main urban centres in New Brunswick, the city had a population of 56,224 in the 2011 census. It is the third-largest city in the province after Saint John and Moncton.
An important cultural, artistic, and educational centre for the province, Fredericton is home to two universities, the New Brunswick College of Craft and Design, and cultural institutions such as the Beaverbrook Art Gallery, the Fredericton Region Museum, and The Playhouse, a performing arts venue. The city hosts the annual Harvest Jazz & Blues Festival, attracting regional and international jazz, blues, rock, and world artists. Fredericton is also an important and vibrant center point for the region's top visual artists; many of New Brunswick's notable artists live and work there today. Fredericton has also been home to some great historical Canadian painters as well, including Goodridge Roberts, and Molly and Bruno Bobak.

Nestled along the magnificent Saint John River sits Fredericton, New Brunswick’s capital city. Visitors can enjoy the diverse tastes of a big city while reveling in the friendly welcome of a small town. What better way to explore this riverside hub than a gastronomic tour? Fredericton’s many restaurants serve everything from local seafood to farm-fresh vegetables. Pick up your own goodies, straight from the farmer, at the Boyce Farmers Market, one of Canada’s best. But the meal isn’t complete without something to wash it down. With nearly a dozen craft breweries, newcomers will raise a glass (or two!) to the overflowing selection of beer, cider, and mead on tap. History comes alive in Fredericton. Watch the Changing of the Guard in the Historic Garrison District, or stroll down the tr...

The Acadian city is an important east Canadian road and rail junction, and has a French-speaking university. 5 Top-Rated Tourist Attractions in New Brunswick, Canada From the world's highest tides on the Bay of Fundy to warm swimming waters on the Gulf of St. Lawrence, the sightseeing pleasures of New Brunswick may come as a surprise. The province is virtually rectangular in shape, bordering Québec, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and the U.S. State of Maine. The largest cities are Saint John, Moncton, and the provincial capital, Fredericton. But among the dense forests (which cover more than three-quarters of the province), rivers divide the land into shallow valleys with good farmland. Along the coast, New Brunswick has a relatively mild maritime climate. Inland, on the other hand, there are mostly continental extremes of temperature with hot, dry summers and cold, snowy winters. Let's see...

Kayaking through the Hopewell Rocks is one of the best ways to start a trip to Moncton, New Brunswick. We head out with Baymount Outdoor Adventures to get up close with rocks formed by tidal erosion. The area is famous not only for the unique rock features but also because it claims the highest tides in the world (the highest have come in as tall as 52-feet). Our guide tells us about the different names given to rock formations in this area, which are assigned based on the shape of the rock. After kayaking, I headed west to Alma, a fishing village at the entrance of Fundy National Park for lunch at the Alma Boathouse Restaurant and also swing by Cape Enrage to catch some of the best views of the Bay of Fundy. Then, it's time to head back to Hopewell Rocks for the low tide experience. ...
