The rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) is a trout and species of salmonid native to cold-water tributaries of the Pacific Ocean in Asia and North America. The steelhead (sometimes called "steelhead trout") is an anadromous (sea-run) form of the coastal rainbow trout (O. m. irideus) or Columbia River redband trout (O. m. gairdneri) that usually returns to fresh water to spawn after living two to three years in the ocean. Freshwater forms that have been introduced into the Great Lakes and migrate into tributaries to spawn are also called steelhead.
Adult freshwater stream rainbow trout average between 1 and 5 lb (0.5 and 2.3 kg), while lake-dwelling and anadromous forms may reach 20 lb (9 kg). Coloration varies widely based on subspecies, forms and habitat. Adult fish are distinguished by a broad reddish stripe along the lateral line, from gills to the tail, which is most vivid in breeding males.
Wild-caught and hatchery-reared forms of this species have been transplanted and introduced for food or sport in at least 45 countries and every continent except Antarctica. Introductions to locations outside their native range in the United States (U.S.), Southern Europe, Australia, New Zealand and South America have damaged native fish species. Introduced populations may affect native species by preying on them, out-competing them, transmitting contagious diseases (such as whirling disease), or hybridizing with closely related species and subspecies, thus reducing genetic purity. Other introductions into waters previously devoid of any fish species or with severely depleted stocks of native fish have created world-class sport fisheries such as the Great Lakes and Wyoming's Firehole River.
Trout is the common name for a number of species of freshwater fish belonging to the genera Oncorhynchus, Salmo and Salvelinus, all of the subfamily Salmoninae of the family Salmonidae. The word trout is also used as part of the name of some non-salmonid fish such as Cynoscion nebulosus, the spotted seatrout or speckled trout.
Trout are closely related to salmon and char (or charr): species termed salmon and char occur in the same genera as do trout (Oncorhynchus - Pacific salmon and trout, Salmo - Atlantic salmon and various trout, Salvelinus - char and trout).
Most trout such as lake trout live in freshwater lakes and/or rivers exclusively, while there are others such as the rainbow trout which may either live out their lives in fresh water, or spend two or three years at sea before returning to fresh water to spawn, a habit more typical of salmon. A rainbow trout that spends time in the ocean is called a steelhead.
Trout are an important food source for humans and wildlife including brown bears, birds of prey such as eagles, and other animals. They are classified as oily fish.
A rainbow is a meteorological phenomenon that is caused by reflection, refraction and dispersion of light in water droplets resulting in a spectrum of light appearing in the sky. It takes the form of a multicoloured arc. Rainbows caused by sunlight always appear in the section of sky directly opposite the sun.
Rainbows can be full circles; however, the average observer sees only an arc formed by illuminated droplets above the ground, and centred on a line from the sun to the observer's eye.
In a primary rainbow, the arc shows red on the outer part and violet on the inner side. This rainbow is caused by light being refracted when entering a droplet of water, then reflected inside on the back of the droplet and refracted again when leaving it.
In a double rainbow, a second arc is seen outside the primary arc, and has the order of its colours reversed, with red on the inner side of the arc.
A rainbow is not located at a specific distance from the observer, but comes from an optical illusion caused by any water droplets viewed from a certain angle relative to a light source. Thus, a rainbow is not an object and cannot be physically approached. Indeed, it is impossible for an observer to see a rainbow from water droplets at any angle other than the customary one of 42 degrees from the direction opposite the light source. Even if an observer sees another observer who seems "under" or "at the end of" a rainbow, the second observer will see a different rainbow—farther off—at the same angle as seen by the first observer.
Totally Awesome is a television film produced by VH1. Totally Awesome directly parodies a number of 1980s movies, including Dirty Dancing, Soul Man, Footloose, Some Kind of Wonderful, Sixteen Candles, Teen Wolf, Better Off Dead, Lucas, Pretty in Pink, and The Karate Kid.
The film premiered on November 4, 2006, on VH1, and was broadcast to promote the film's DVD release on November 7.
Ben Stein introduces the film as a long-lost film from the 1980s, so a lot of the jokes are now outdated in 2006.
As the Gunderson family sets out on a cross-country road trip to their new home, boyishly handsome Charlie, blossoming dancer Lori, and highly intelligent Max all have their own ideas of what life will be like in their new town. When Charlie is singled out as the least popular senior on the very first day of school, kindly outcast Billie amiably agrees to show him the ropes and provide him with an illuminating crash course in the clique system. Meanwhile, Lori is shocked to discover that dancing has been banned in her new town and the only place to cut loose is at the clandestine dance sessions held in the garage of current janitor and former dance instructor Gabriel. Immediately forbidden from attending the highly secretive shindigs, Lori stealthily sneaks out to be with the kindly Gabriel as her feelings for the dance instructor grow and the pair set into motion a clever plan to usher in a new era of dancing around town. When Charlie vows to win the heart of popular girl Kimberly by competing against her athletic boyfriend, Kipp, in the upcoming school decathlon, lovelorn Billie quietly pines for the clueless newcomer from afar as he begins a rigorous training regiment with Japanese gardener Yamagashi. As his family struggles to adjust to their new life, reclusive genius Max continues working on a highly advanced home computer that soon draws the attention of the CIA.

Sooooo, I was in what is supposed to be a wild brown trout stream, but I couldn't seem to find the brown trout in 2 hours of fishing. But rewind to the first 10 minutes of the trip when I caught a holdover (idk if wild or not) rainbow trout that was over two feet and at least 6 pounds.
Total rainbow trout in the video: 6 Best rainbow trout in the video: 7:21 I was fishing with Berkley powerbait from shore at a lake in New York during summer (late June). I was fishing around a month after most fisherman quit trying to catch the trout because I found some baits that work great for stocked trout later in the season: orange colored, original flavor powerbait and tan colored, garlic flavor powerbait. A big largemouth bass kept trying to eat some of my trout as I reeled them in. I ended up limiting out on first-year stocked trout and holdover trout before leaving. This is one of many videos in the Bait Fishing series -- watch others for numbers of fish, trophy fish, the tips and techniques I pick up along the way, and more!

This was my first time fishing East Pit Lake in Alberta Canada north of Wabamun Lake. This lake was created from an old coal mining pit. It is deep, long and narrow with foot access only. This lake has legends of holding 10 pound rainbow trout but with increased pressure you're probably more likely to get some 18-20 inch fish as the big ones these days. I started out fishing with a spoon as the lure is heavier and even though small allows you to get it a fair distance into the lake from shore. In a few casts I was hooked up with the first 16 inch rainbow trout. Watch and I catch a bunch of hook ups, amazing ...

The trout were due another health check so I caught another 2 of them to take a look and let you see how they have grown since the last video. Oh my.......the first one was a monster... As time goes on these fish will keep getting bigger and as I work from home I can feed them 3-4 times a day with high protein pellets which they love. Hopefully the water will clear and the colours of the fish will improve a bit as they are noticeably silver and a bit 'washed out' looking. Here ill go over painting a trout glider in my rainbow trout pattern. and also a sneak peek at my new Custom reel. tune in and share
In the name of love she came
This foolish winsome girl
She was all decked out like a rainbow trout
Swimmin' up stream in the world
And she said, "Please, please, I've lost my way
The current is too strong
In the name of love, kind sir I pray
In the name of love"
So I took her by the hand
She took me by the will
She was all dolled up like a blue eyed pup
Looking for something to spill
And she said, "Please, please, I've lost my way
The current is too strong
In the name of love, kind sir I pray
In the name of love"
In the name of love she came
This foolish winsome girl
She was all decked out like a rainbow trout
Swimmin' upstream in the world
And she said, "Please, please, I've lost my way
The current is too strong"
And she gave one flip of the rainbow tip of her tail
And she swam back down
And she said, "Please, please, I've lost my way
The current is too strong
In the name of love, kind sir I pray
In the name of love"
And she said, "Please, please, I've lost my way
The current is too strong
In the name of love, kind sir I pray
In the name of love"
And she said, "Please, please, I've lost my way
