Wireless communication is the transfer of information between two or more points that are not connected by an electrical conductor.
The most common wireless technologies use radio. With radio waves distances can be short, such as a few meters for television or as far as thousands or even millions of kilometers for deep-space radio communications. It encompasses various types of fixed, mobile, and portable applications, including two-way radios, cellular telephones, personal digital assistants (PDAs), and wireless networking. Other examples of applications of radio wireless technology include GPS units, garage door openers, wireless computer mice, keyboards and headsets, headphones, radio receivers, satellite television, broadcast television and cordless telephones.
Somewhat less common methods of achieving wireless communications include the use of other electromagnetic wireless technologies, such as light, magnetic, or electric fields or the use of sound.
It should be noted that the term wireless has been used twice in communications history, with slightly different meaning. It was initially used from about 1890 for the first radio transmitting and receiving technology, as in wireless telegraphy, until the new word radio replaced it around 1920. The term was revived in the 1980s and 1990s mainly to distinguish digital devices that communicate without wires, such as the examples listed in the previous paragraph, from those that require wires. This is its primary usage today.
The Wireless Festival is a music festival in England that takes place every year in London, and took place at Harewood House, Leeds in 2006 and 2007. It is owned and managed by Live Nation.
From its inception in 2005 until 2008, the festival was sponsored by telecommunications company O2, and was called the O2 Wireless Festival. From 2009 to 2012, the main sponsor was Barclaycard and the festival renamed to Barclaycard Wireless Festival. For 2013, the sponsor changed to Yahoo!, and was renamed to Yahoo! Wireless. The 2014 Wireless Festival was held in Finsbury Park in North London for the first time, as well as Perry Park in Birmingham. The 2015 Wireless Fesitval took place at Finsbury Park and was sponsored by the fashion retailer New Look with an extra day added due to it being 10 years since the first event.
The first festival took place in June 2005 and was in Hyde Park only. Tickets were £35 a day. Some of the acts on the line-up were (headline acts in bold):
The Wall is the eleventh studio album by the English progressive rock band Pink Floyd. It is the last studio album released with the classic lineup of guitarist David Gilmour, bassist/lyricist Roger Waters, keyboardist Richard Wright and drummer Nick Mason before Wright left the band. Released as a double album on 30 November 1979, it was supported by a tour with elaborate theatrical effects, and adapted into a 1982 feature film, Pink Floyd – The Wall. The album features the band's only number one single; "Another Brick in the Wall Part 2".
As with Pink Floyd's previous three albums, The Wall is a concept album and explores themes of abandonment and personal isolation. The album is a rock opera that follows Pink, a character whom Waters modelled after himself and the band's original leader, Syd Barrett. Pink's life begins with the loss of his father during the Second World War and continues with abuse from his schoolteachers, an overprotective mother, and the breakdown of his marriage; all contribute to his eventual self-imposed isolation from society, represented by a metaphorical wall. Waters conceived the album during Pink Floyd's 1977 In the Flesh Tour, when his frustration with the audience became so acute that he imagined a wall between the audience and the stage.
Austin Post (born July 4, 1995), better known by his stage name Post Malone, is an American recording artist and songwriter from Dallas, Texas. He first gained major recognition for his single "White Iverson" after releasing it on SoundCloud in February 2015. He is currently signed with Republic Records.
Austin Post was born on July 4, 1995, in Syracuse, New York. When he was 10-years old, he and his family moved to Dallas, Texas. He enjoyed playing basketball and watching sports. His father was the Dallas Cowboys' assistant director of food and beverage, and this meant that he was able to get free food and tickets to Dallas Cowboy games.
Post then taught himself on how to play the saxophone, and then he became a member of the heavy metal band in high school. He credited his initial interest in learning guitar to the popular video game Guitar Hero. He first learned how to produce music through FL Studio. When he was 16-years old, he's been started working on his first mixtape. He showed it to some of his classmates and it gained some popularity at his school. He credits his love for music to his father, who exposed him to many genres, including country music, while growing up and also his cousin Raj who exposed him to rap music at a young age. He often mentions his cousin who he used to watch basketball with from a young age but has lost touch with because of his new found fame.
Willie Maxwell II (born June 7, 1991), better known by his stage name Fetty Wap, is an American hip hop recording artist from Paterson, New Jersey. He rose to prominence with his 2014 breakout single "Trap Queen", which was a sleeper hit that peaked at number two on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart in May 2015. The success of "Trap Queen" helped Fetty Wap secure a record deal with 300 Entertainment and a distribution deal with Atlantic Records. He subsequently released the Top 40 hits "679", "My Way" and "Again". Fetty Wap's eponymously titled debut album was released in September 2015 and reached number one on the US Billboard 200 chart.
Willie Maxwell was born on June 7, 1991 and raised in Paterson, New Jersey. He began taking interest in music in 2013. Initially starting off as only a rapper, he later decided to start singing as well because he "wanted to do something different". He was nicknamed "Fetty" (slang for money) as he was known for making money. "Wap" was added to the end of the name to perform under in tribute to Gucci Mane's alias, GuWop. When he was a child, Maxwell developed glaucoma in both eyes. He revealed in a 2015 interview that doctors were unable to save his left eye and instead fitted him with an ocular prosthesis.

Here we see how people try to force entry to wireless festival by trying to break through the gates.
As a follow up to the original Wireless in the World experiment http://vimeo.com/3684601 this film was made for the HABITAR exhibition at Laboral: "This new urban landscape is no longer predicated solely on architecture and urbanism. These disciplines now embrace emerging methodologies that bend the physical with new measures, representations and maps of urban dynamics such as traffic or mobile phone flows. Representations of usage patterns and mapping the life of the city amplify our collective awareness of the urban environment as a living organism. These soft and invisible architectures fashion sentient and reactive environments." from: http://www.laboralcentrodearte.org/en/exposiciones/habitar

This project explores the invisible terrain of WiFi networks in urban spaces by light painting signal strength in long-exposure photographs. A four-metre long measuring rod with 80 points of light reveals cross-sections through WiFi networks using a photographic technique called light-painting.
