ITV plc
ITV plc is a British media company that holds 12 of the 15 regional television licences that make up the ITV network, the oldest and largest commercial terrestrial television network in the United Kingdom. The network, which is branded ITV by ITV plc, has vied with the British Broadcasting Corporation's BBC One for the status of the UK's most watched channel since the 1950s (a crown it lost in 2005).
The company was formed by a corporate takeover by Granada plc (the parent company of Granada Television) of Carlton Communications. Granada acquired a 68% controlling interest of the newly formed company whilst Carlton retained the 32% remaining shares. It began trading on 2 February 2004. This was the most recent stage in a long process of mergers between the original ITV regional franchises. It acquired the remaining 25% of the Breakfast franchise holder, GMTV, from The Walt Disney Company in 2009 and Channel Television from Yattendon Group plc in 2011. On 19 October 2015, ITV announced it would buy UTV for £100 million.

ITV were after a distinctive and premium look for their new documentaries strand dedicated to the best in factual programming. Working alongside ITV's creative team we designed and created the strand from the ground up including the logo design, programme opener and bespoke endboards. It's always fun to crack something open to see how it works inside and thats exactly what we got to do here. Gorgeously grainy macro photography reveals the intricate workings of a classic documentary film camera appropriately also shot on 16mm film. The footage was then graded at Smoke & Mirrors and edited by us in-house to create the opening sequence and on-air elements. Tasked with bringing the village logo to life, we were commissioned by VCCP to develop a series of idents for Nationwide's sponsorship of ITV documentaries. Through charming character animation and humorous sound design each ident captures the comedic goings on around the Nationwide village.

We used the classic art deco posters of 1920's & 30's as an inspiration for the look. Placing the stars of modern European football in these romantic settings, a fun nostalgic scene setter for this summers football tournament.

ITV were after a distinctive and premium look for their new documentaries strand dedicated to the best in factual programming. Working alongside ITV's creative team we designed and created the strand from the ground up including the logo design, programme opener and bespoke endboards.
It's always fun to crack something open to see how it works inside and thats exactly what we got to do here. Gorgeously grainy macro photography reveals the intricate workings of a classic documentary film camera appropriately also shot on 16mm film. The footage was then graded at Smoke & Mirrors and edited by us in-house to create the opening sequence and on-air elements.
The sound design and music was created by long-term collaborator Kelpe featuring a deliciously dark blend of samples and synths to form a distinctive audio signature.
