A 63-year-old Lincolnton man is accused of a sex crime against a child.
Johnny Lee Metts was arrested early Monday and charged with indecent liberties with a child, Lincolnton Police said. Metts was jailed on $30,000 bail.
Patrol units responded to a report of the assault at a home on West Church Street. The child was taken to Carolinas HealthCare System-Lincoln for treatment. The child’s condition was unavailable.
Metts has a lengthy criminal record spanning several decades, court records show. He has been convicted of assault with a deadly weapon on a law enforcement officer, assault on a female, escape from local jail, impersonating a peace officer, breaking and entering, communicating threats and other offenses.
