Video Volunteers is an international media and human rights NGO founded in 2003 that promotes community media to enable citizen participation in marginalized and poor communities around the world. Video Volunteers is a registered non-profit in the state of New York in the US.
Video Volunteers was founded in 2003 by Jessica Mayberry after she spent a year as a fellow of the American India Foundation training rural Indian women in filmmaking. Video Volunteers originally operated from offices in New York, NY and Goa, India. Mayberry works closely with co-director Stalin K, Indian documentary filmmaker and community radio activist, as well as original co-founder of Drishti Media, Arts and Human Rights.
Video Volunteers’ provides disadvantaged communities with the journalistic, critical thinking and creative skills they need. VV’s models for locally-owned and managed media production teach people to articulate and share their perspectives on the issues that matter to them – on a local and a global scale. Through communication media, Video Volunteers offers a livelihood option for people from poor areas while also providing a service to those communities. To this end, VV uses their low-cost community media models.
Video is an electronic medium for the recording, copying, playback, broadcasting, and display of moving visual media.
Video systems vary greatly in the resolution of the display, how they are refreshed, and the rate of refreshed, and 3D video systems exist. They can also be carried on a variety of media, including radio broadcast, tapes, DVDs, computer files etc.
Video technology was first developed for Mechanical television systems, which were quickly replaced by cathode ray tube (CRT) television systems, but several new technologies for video display devices have since been invented. Charles Ginsburg led an Ampex research team developing one of the first practical video tape recorder (VTR). In 1951 the first video tape recorder captured live images from television cameras by converting the camera's electrical impulses and saving the information onto magnetic video tape.
Video recorders were sold for $50,000 in 1956, and videotapes cost $300 per one-hour reel. However, prices gradually dropped over the years; in 1971, Sony began selling videocassette recorder (VCR) decks and tapes to the public.
Volunteer or Volunteers may refer to:
A community correspondent, also known as a rural correspondent or country correspondent, is someone who produces a regular column on community events, places and people for publication in their local — typically weekly — newspaper. The writer is generally not a regular member of the newspaper staff but is a stringer who receives little or no pay for their submissions, outside of a free subscription to the periodical.
The columns produced by community correspondents almost universally focus on community events at an extremely localized scale, often from a personal viewpoint. The writers typically have little professional journalistic training and instead of building their articles around major events and themes often focus on the day to day lives and interactions of the people and places in their community. It is not uncommon to read reports of new babies, vacations, recently purchased automobiles and church suppers in these pieces.
Sometimes referred to as "chicken-dinner news" or "country letters," these columns have been a staple in local newspapers for around 100 years, offering editors cheap copy to fill pages with, while also providing a unique look at local events and news.

Varsha Jawalgekar reports from Patna, Bihar for IndiaUnheard She sustained 42% burns when two intruders flung acid at her but it took 24 hours to get her to a doctor. On 13 September 2015, the 15-year old daughter of Mohammed Gyas Khan was at home with her family in Pachrukhi village in Bihar, when two men forced their way into her house and flung acid on her. In her hypnosis work Dolores Cannon discovered three waves of these volunteers. Some have come direct from the “Source” and have never lived in any type of physical body before. Others have lived as space beings on other planets or other dimensions. Because all memory is erased upon entry to the Earth dimension, they do not remember their assignment. Thus these beautiful souls have a difficult time adjusting to our chaotic world. These souls have a vital role to play as they help all of the rest of us ascend to the New Earth. Stalin K.’s award-winning feature-length documentary is perhaps the most comprehensive look at untouchability ever undertaken on film. The powerful stories and shocking visuals in this film makes it impossible for anyone to deny that Untouchability is still practiced in India today. Director Stalin K. and his team spent four years traveling the length and breadth of India to bear witness to the continued exclusion and segregation of those considered as 'Untouchables' . The film introduces leading Benares scholars who interpret Hindu scriptures to mean that Dalits 'have no right' to education, and Rajput farmers who proudly proclaim that the police must seek their permission before pursuing cases of atrocities on Dalits. The film captures many 'firsts-on-film, ' such as Dalits being forced...

In between doing the photography for AGO I found time to wander around with a handycam and get footage of what we, the volunteers, experience as the airshow. Lots of public interaction, concentration on the tasks at hand, with the air show itself just a background to what we do. That's the feel I tried to incorporate into this production. One scene, a continuous six and a half minute shot of moving the Decathlon through the crowd, attempts to capture the vital role the marshallers play in keeping an aircraft safe from the public and keeping the public safe from the aircraft. Annoyingly, the wind noise in the exposed microphone is almost constant, and often nearly drowns out the words of wisdom from the interviewed volunteers. Nothing I can do about that now.
Denis Cuspert, aka Deso Dogg, is a German who joined the Islamic State. He's become a household name for many. However, in this war – in which Germany has been directly supplying weapons to the Peschmerga forces since the attacks on Paris and is more than indirectly involved with Saudi Arabia, Iraq, and other Gulf states – hardly anyone is talking about the German civilians in northern Syria that are fighting terror militias. While the German government sends its Tornado jets to Syria without a mandate under international law, we discovered German civilians, as well as other international volunteers fighting with and assisting Kurdish commandos. With AK-47s in hand, they are trying to halt the advance of the Islamic State and set up their own in its place. They’re trying to promote a soc...
