Norman Gene "Norm" Macdonald (born October 17, 1963) is a Canadian stand-up comedian, writer, producer and actor. He is best known for his five seasons as a cast member on Saturday Night Live, which included anchoring Weekend Update for three years. Early in his career, he wrote for the sitcom Roseanne and made appearances on shows including The Drew Carey Show and NewsRadio. He starred in The Norm Show from 1999 to 2001. Comedy Central named him #83 on the five-part miniseries 100 Greatest Stand-ups of All Time. He is noted as a favorite talk show guest of David Letterman, Howard Stern, Dennis Miller, and Conan O'Brien. His brother is Canadian journalist Neil Macdonald, of CBC News' Washington, D.C. bureau.
Macdonald was born in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada, and raised in Ottawa, Ontario. Macdonald has a brother, Neil Macdonald, who is a journalist with the CBC.
Macdonald's first performances in comedy were at stand-up at clubs in Ottawa. He appeared at the 1987 Just For Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal.
Weekend Update is a Saturday Night Live sketch that comments on and parodies current events. It is the show's longest-running recurring sketch, having been on since the show's first broadcast, and is typically presented in the middle of the show immediately after the first musical performance. One or two of the players are cast in the role of news anchor, presenting gag news items based on current events and acting as hosts for occasional editorials, commentaries, or other performances by other cast members or guests. Chevy Chase has credited Weekend Update, which he started as anchor in 1975, for paving the way for comedic news shows like The Daily Show and The Colbert Report.
Weekend Update was created by original anchor Chevy Chase and SNL writer Herb Sargent, and appeared on the first SNL broadcast on October 11, 1975. Chase popularized several catchphrases during the segment, such as his "I'm Chevy Chase... and you're not" greeting; and his repeated announcement that "Generalissimo Francisco Franco is still dead". When Weekend Update began, Chase was consistently on the phone presumably talking to his lover, and would talk until realizing he was "on air." Chase would always end Weekend Update with "That's the news. Goodnight, and have a pleasant tomorrow."

Anthony Frank "Tony" Hawk (born May 12, 1968), nicknamed "The Birdman", is an American former professional skateboarder and actor. Hawk is well known for completing the first documented 900 and for his licensed video game titles, published by Activision. He is widely considered to be one of the most successful and influential pioneers of modern vertical skateboarding.
In 2002, he created the "Boom Boom HuckJam", an extreme sports exhibition and tour that was launched in Las Vegas. Throughout his career, Hawk has made numerous appearances in films, other media, and his own series of video games. He has also been involved in various philanthropic activities, including his own Tony Hawk Foundation that helps to build skateparks in underprivileged areas. In 2014, Hawk was labeled as one of the "Most influential skateboarders of all-time" by FoxWeekly.
Tony Hawk was born on May 12, 1968 in Carlsbad, California, to Nancy and Frank Peter Rupert Hawk, and was raised in San Diego, California. When Hawk was young, he was described as being "hyperactive," and his mother says that he was "so hard on himself and expected himself to do so many things." One time, Hawk struck out in baseball and was so distraught that he hid in a ravine and had to be "physically coaxed out" by his father. His frustration with himself was so harsh that his parents had him psychologically evaluated at school. The results were that Tony was "gifted," he tested with an I.Q. of 144, and school advisers recommended placing him in advanced classes. Hawk attended Jean Farb Middle School from 1980 to 1981, and eventually returned for the show, Homecoming with Rick Reilly, where he set up a ramp and did a demonstration.

Chief Motion Series: Julz Savard A radio DJ, rock band vocalist, host, a writer, model, and a lot more, Julz Savard is definitely making the most out of life. Yes, it's quite a lot of work to fit in the 24 hours a day limit, but that doesn't stop her from pursuing what she wants. For a 21-year-old lady, she is very mature and cultured, it is seldom that you see someone so gifted and blessed to be very humble, driven and focused despite being handed and given so much readily. But beyond the serious character, she is high-spirited, witty and easygoing. She is a unique individual, never afraid to be different and to pursue things that are slightly or completely out of the norm. This is what makes her exceptionally interesting, being that young woman who is good and bad enough at the same tim...

There are many things about bike polo equipment moving out of the DIY world and into the business world that gets me excited. Seeing how a company or entrepreneur approaches a certain problem and solves it, or compounds it. Seeing how the players determine what sticks and what gets left behind. God, the trends and how quickly that info is traded coast to coast and turned canon by the end of a week. That’s not to mention the financial aspect and what the future holds for our sport as money is gravitating towards core suppliers and away from street hockey companies that could give two shits about us. So listen, I’m a fan of companies and individuals making things specifically for polo. From capriotti caps to the first 1/8″ mallet head, I look at every piece as worthy of my polo museum I’v...

Created and drawn by Norm Feuti, Gil is a comic strip centered around a chunky 8-year-old boy whose parents are divorced. It’s a thoroughly modern take on family life that is drawn in classic comics style with a totally 2012 voice. Gil struggles with school and his appetite. His 1960s-style mom –complete with polka-dot kerchief always holding back her hair -- balances the demands of being a single parent with sustaining a career. Dumping Gil’s slovenly dad – who the boy only sees on alternate weekends – was the smartest thing she ever did. Oh, and did I mention that Gil’s best friend, Sandra, is also the product of a broken home? Maybe it doesn’t sound like comedy gold the way I described it, but there is definitely a market for its style, tone and jokes. If Charles Schulz was starting o...

A Media Glut The podcast opens with a tragedy of epic proportions, as Princess Chuck's coffee isn't perfectly up to snuff. Chuck and Brad then dive into updates about Senior Discount and SkyPunch!, then hit up their Web Couliers (a cool name for cool stuff on the internet). The boys read emails from Eric Macksoud (of local band Soundoff) and a criticism of Iron Man 2 from new(?) listener Jason. After having a respectful discussion about the emails, we are treated to a debut of Brad's new weekly segment - "Put Out or Shout Outs." Loyal listeners may remember a previous p'cast that mentioned the 104-flavor Coke machine. Brad has been to the mountaintop to try it...what did he think? After that conversation winds down, the pizza-loving pair look at some of the media they've experienced in the...
