John Winston Ono Lennon, MBE (born John Winston Lennon; 9 October 1940 – 8 December 1980) was an English singer and songwriter who rose to worldwide fame as a co-founder of the band the Beatles, the most commercially successful band in the history of popular music. With fellow member Paul McCartney, he formed a celebrated songwriting partnership.
Born and raised in Liverpool, Lennon became involved in the skiffle craze as a teenager; his first band, the Quarrymen, evolved into the Beatles in 1960. When the group disbanded in 1970, Lennon embarked on a solo career that produced the critically acclaimed albums John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band and Imagine, and iconic songs such as "Give Peace a Chance", "Working Class Hero", and "Imagine". After his marriage to Yoko Ono in 1969, he changed his name to John Ono Lennon. Lennon disengaged himself from the music business in 1975 to raise his infant son Sean, but re-emerged with Ono in 1980 with the new album Double Fantasy. He was murdered three weeks after its release.

my quality restored version of John's home demo version of the Chuck Berry classic "Vacation Time". The demo probably originated from the 1971 St. Regis Hotel session, where John serenaded Yoko in front of some journalists. It was a very fragmented recording because John was looking to get the right chords. The track also had a lot of hiss / white noise and sounds in the background. Reduced the hiss in Audacity, cut the unwanted parts too, making the gaps between the chord changes disappear. Then moved to Adobe Audition (great program!) where I reduced the noise even further, trying to cut out a lot of hiss too. Then I double tracked it and treated it with a bit of reverb - very carefully imho - to make his voice clearer and more foregrounded. After the obligatory tape compensate/satura...

For years, on The Beatles’ tours, Brian Epstein had stopped us from saying anything about Vietnam or the war.” - John Lennon. “Plugging directly into the Abbey Road desk and pushing the needles into the red achieved the fuzz-guitar sound. According to George Martin “We got into distortion on that, which we had a lot of complaints from the technical people about. "The Day John Lennon Died" (documentary 2010) is a look at Lennon and his death through archival footage and interviews. Someone once said to me when politicians are assassinated it's one thing, but "when they start killing the artists," it's a bad sign. John Lennon's loss was certainly devastating, and I'm not sure it could have been avoided. Perhaps it might have been delayed, though. He was a man who loved New York, loved walking down the street. He didn't have bodyguards, and he signed autographs outside of the Dakota. Part of the problem is that the security people at the Dakota apparently let people "hang out" there -- a mistake -- and another is that Lennon didn't always enter or leave the Dakota by driving directly in or out of the garage. So as the completely obsessed Mark Davi...
John Lennon sitting in with Frank Zappa. The story I heard about this video is on June 4, 1971 John Lennon and Frank Zappa met for the first time. Zappa was playing at the Fillmore East the next night, and invited Lennon to sit in with him. Lennon (and ugh.. Yoko Ono) sat in with him, and this video captured that historic performance

John Lennon sat down at the Tomorrow Show and gave his last interview ever.
From The Old Grey Whistle Test, April 18, 1975.
MUSIC AUDIO JOHN LENNON John Lennon stopped performing, writing, and recording professionally in 1975 to concentrate on raising his son, Sean. This hiatus from the music scene lasted until the summer of 1980, when he and wife Yoko Ono began writing and recording once again. This interview, conducted later in that year, took place as this comeback album, Double Fantasy, was being mixed in New York's Hit Factory. Due to these circumstances, Lisa Robinson focuses her questions on Lennon as a father and what it's like to be back in the studio. But there are also more general discussions regarding his writing process and his need to express himself artistically. We all know what happened outside his apartment building just over two months after this recording was made and, with that in mind, ...
↓ Read the MESSAGE FROM YOKO ONO ↓ Dear Friends, In 1969, John and I were so naïve to think that doing the Bed-In would help change the world. Well, it might have. But at the time, we didn't know. It was good that we filmed it, though. The film is powerful now. What we said then could have been said now. In fact, there are things that we said then in the film, which may give some encouragement and inspiration to the activists of today. Good luck to us all. Let's remember WAR IS OVER If We Want It. It's up to us, and nobody else. John would have wanted to say that. "The Tomorrow Show: John Lennon" Filmed: 25-04-1975 Length: 1 hour 06 minutes 11 seconds iMDB: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0158435/ One of the few TV interviews John Lennon ever granted was to "The Tomorrow Show" with Tom Snyder, of historical signifigance due to Lennon's legendary contribution to the music of this generation. The Tomorrow Show With Tom Snyder was one of the hippest, most-interesting late-night talk shows around, during its 70s and early- 80s run. The Tomorrow Show With Tom Snyder: John, Paul, Tom & Ringo brings together captivating interviews with John Lennon, Paul McCartney, and Ringo Starr.

In 1969, a 14-year-old Beatle fanatic named Jerry Levitan, armed with a reel-to-reel tape deck, snuck into John Lennon’s hotel room in Toronto and convinced John to do an interview. Fastforward to present day and using the original interview recording as the soundtrack, director Josh Raskin has woven a visual narrative which tenderly romances Lennon’s every word. Raskin marries traditional pen sketches by James Braithwaite. James Braithwaite is an illustrator, animator, and director based out of Montreal Canada. James’s first animation, “I Met the Walrus” won best short animation from the American Film Institute, and was nominated for an Academy Award in 2008. The film has since been nominated for an Emmy, and has won two awards at the Banff Television Awards.
Elliot Mintz first came to national attention for his close ties to John Lennon and Yoko Ono throughout the 1970s and for his continued presence as a media consultant for Yoko following John’s murder. But before that, he was a college student who broke big news about Lee Harvey Oswald the day of the JFK assassination and went on to a storied career as a broadcast journalist and celebrity media consultant. Key moments: • 7:13 November 22, 1963, watching news reports of the Kennedy assassination when a Los Angeles County College classmate recognizes Lee Harvey Oswald, with whom he served in the Marines; • 16:33 Interviewing Salvador Dali (accompanied by John Lennon, Yoko Ono, and Gala Dali); • 42:43 Hearing of the assassination of his close friend, John Lennon, en route to The Dakota Bui...

The show was narrated by John Roberts and featured his interviews with photographer Bob Gruen; John’s girlfriend May Pang; Anthony DeCurtis, Contributing Editor, Rolling Stone Magazine; David Sheff, who conducted the Playboy Magazine interview with the Lennons; and Double Fantasy producer and close friend Jack Douglas. Interview segments with Julian Lennon, done during his photography exhibit in New York in September, were also included. Yoko Ono did not take part in either program. This show essentially covered the same ground as LENNONYC, as it dealt with his life in America from 1971-1980, but focused on some different aspects that were ...

Part 2 of an imaginary concert that should have taken place in 81. For the most senseless reason, it is not to be. This has been a much bigger project and taken nearly three days to finally get it too work. So this in itself is a miracle. It is the second half of the 45 minute mythical concert that should have occurred but never will. Really hope you enjoy after all that I have gone through to get this made and out to the public. Love you John * The photos were gotten from numerous places on line and I don't own them. (First few seconds might be low)

North Korea lies somewhere between a 1930′s Soviet Union frozen in time and a dark, futuristic vision of society... as imagined back in the 70′s. "Land of Whispers" invites you to visit arguably the most unique and isolated travel destination in the world - not to criticize, but to observe and listen. Aside from usual highlights such as Pyongyang or Arirang, this unique one-man documentary brings you to areas such as Chongjin or Wonson, still virtually unknown to even google or wikipedia. There, I attempt to pierce through the ever-present 'national mythology' and as much as possible, I try to connect with people - such as the waitress mesmerized by tablet computers, or a tour guide cautiously fascinated by modern pop culture. * Third World Indie Film Festival 2013 (San Francisco, USA)...
