Back in the 70's and 80's, discount department stores were all the rage. Much like K-Mart, Ames and Walmart, a retailer named Bradlees was taking over the northeast United States. 5.North Wilkesboro Speedway, North Carolina
Apart from being known as the “Moonshine Capital of America”, North Wilkesboro and Wilkes County didn’t have much to offer… until the construction of a short track that was utilized by NASCAR.
The track was used a lot during the 50s 60s and 70s. But then gradually faded into obscurity, by 1996, it was no longer open.
If somehow nostalgia is hitting you right in the feels, you can always experience the North Wilkesboro Speedway… virtually. It has been featured in many NASCAR games.
I’m not going to pretend I know anything about NASCAR, or how the they structure their events, but it seems like this race track is still of interest to some racing teams, even if its just for practice.
The current owners have tried and tried to revive the track, and apart from a short stint in 2010, it hasn’t been done yet. It looks like it is strictly off limits,so its one of those places you have to admire from afar.
4.Spinalonga, Crete
Something to think about, how many leprosy colonies do you think are still active ? For centuries leprosy was a death sentence, with the added brutality of being taken away from your loved ones.
Nowadays… not so much, after the bacteria that causes the disease was identified, there isn’t much to fear, and yet, there are a few colonies that still operate. Surprisingly, one is located in Hawaii. Another in Romania.
As you might have guessed, Spinalonga was also a leper colony. The island has a rich history spanning 100s of years, strangely enough it wasn’t even an island to begin with. It was connected to the mainland of Crete. But you know, war and stuff. It was decided it would serve better as a fortification island.
The last resident of the island left in 1962, today, you can visit the island and experience its history by checking out the old fortress and much more.
3.Prague-Vysehrad (station) - Czech Republic

Alright, this one gets cool points for looks alone. The building served as a railway station in Prague for a long time, but I guess, all good things must come to an end? Not sure.
Using google street view, you can see a dude with a mini ladder walking around the building, but I doubt it was connected to an effort of revitalizing the building. OH snap, where did he go ? here one frame, gone the next. This might be a rabbit hole we DO NOT want to go down in.
Anyway, some American investment firm bought the property without disclosing their plans for it, which really rubbed the locals the wrong way, seeing as that just because the building is abandoned, it does not mean there is no historical value to it.... In 2008, part of the property was illegally demolished, the company was fined and everyone calmed down….
Until 2009, when a gang of squatters moved from their old squatting spot called Villa Milada, but that problem was also short lived as well.
2. Presidio Modelo, Cuba
Ahhh, the model prison. Such a popular spot for rebels, that it even housed the likes of Fidel and Raul Castro.
The prison was originally meant to house around 2500 prisoners in what was considered “humane conditions” during the 30s in Cuba. Well by the time 1961 rolled around, there was more than 4000 prisoners staring each at each other from across the circular building. Obviously there were many riots and hunger strikes.
Ultimately, the prison shut down in 1967, the buildings are now part of a museum, and you can explore almost everything.
1,The House of Soviets - Kaliningrad
At our number one spot, we have the House of Soviets in Kaliningrad. A complete failure of a building that was never officially used . Kaliningrad by the way, is part of Russia, but it's also next to Germany. WEIRD.
The area was originally occupied by the Konigsberg Castle, this is how the castle looked in before 1944, and this is how it looked after 1944….. Yeah….
So the soviets decided to build a big beautiful square robot looking building in its place, and boy did they succeed ! Except for the fact that the land underneath was not able to support such a large structure. After 15 years of construction, the local communist party committee ran out of interest, and funding for the project.
So what happened? Nothing. The building still stands to this day, it did get a fancy new paintjob in 2005 though. What do you think ? Should they destroy it, fix it, or leave it alone ?

So this explore is going down in history as the best explore we have ever been on. So i heard that this abandoned mansion was going up for auction so thought i would go up and have a look and i was not expecting to find what i found. This place was like going into a time capsule everything was still as it was when the owners left beds were made perfect as if people were going to use it. At one point i started to feel as if this place was not abandoned anymore just because it was in such good condition. We thought we had explored all we could explore and was ready to go home but we realized we still had a big section of the house to explore so we went around the back of the mansion realized there was a hidden door and behind that door was amazing and the best bit of the explore this is no clickbait

The Belgian Adventure begins! This week we're at a steam train graveyard. Part of this yard stores abandoned trains and part of it stores trains which are either restored or under restoration.
Exploring the dilapidated ruins of civilisation, abandoned buildings, creepy theme parks, military bases, and underground vaults containing the remnants of a by gone era. And with a bit of comedy and humour chucked in there too, can't be too serious about these things.
We're not serious urban explorers, we just love the adeventure.
Urban Exploration is not for kiddies. Abandoned places are dangerous. Adventures are fun.

A few months ago we went to visit the incredible abandoned city called Slab City. It used to be a military base but hundreds of squatters came and made it their home. We went with our friend Justin Escalona and truly had a fascinating experience. We thought the place would be hostile and dangerous when in fact it was inviting and beautiful (in it's own way). Shout-outs to all the description readers out there you know we love you :)

What You Don't See
What You Don't See is the second studio album by American rock band The Story So Far.
Background
The Story So Far signed to Pure Noise in March 2010. The band released their debut album in June 2011. The band supported We Are the Union and I Call Fives in July. The band toured alongside Heartsounds and Handguns in August. The band supported Senses Fail in November. From late February to early March 2012 the band went on the Pure Noise Records Tour alongside Handguns, I Call Fives, Daybreaker, The American Scene and Forever Came Calling. In early November, the band supported New Found Glory on the Road to Warped Tour in the UK. From late November to mid-December, the band supported New Found Glory on the 10th anniversary tour for their Sticks and Stones album. The band listened to New Found Glory when they were younger and did not expect tour with them in their lifetime.
Composition and recording
On December 31, 2011 it was announced that The Story So Far was recording new material. In March 2012 it was announced the band would be writing new songs in the summer. In August it was posted that the band were recording "something" at Panda Studios. The band recorded at Panda Studios in San Francisco, in the fall. In an October 2012 interview with Alternative Press bassist Kelen Capener revealed the band were "just starting [to record] drum [tracks]". The band went to the studio with 13 songs but were writing new material during the record process in case they want to drop any of the previously written material. The band were figuring out what made their previous record excellent and attempt to expanded on it. The album was produced by Steve Klein of New Found Glory and Sam Pura. Klein originally visited the band to see what material they had and gave them tips.

5.North Wilkesboro Speedway, North Carolina
Apart from being known as the “Moonshine Capital of America”, North Wilkesboro and Wilkes County didn’t have much to offer… until the construction of a short track that was utilized by NASCAR.
The track was used a lot during the 50s 60s and 70s. But then gradually faded into obscurity, by 1996, it was no longer open.
If somehow nostalgia is hitting you right in the feels, you can always experience the North Wilkesboro Speedway… virtually. It has been featured in many NASCAR games.
I’m not going to pretend I know anything about NASCAR, or how the they structure their events, but it seems like this race track is still of interest to some racing teams, even if its just for practice.
The current owners have tried and tried to revive the track, and apart from a short stint in 2010, it hasn’t been done yet. It looks like it is strictly off limits,so its one of those places you have to admire from afar.
4.Spinalonga, Crete
Something to think about, how many leprosy colonies do you think are still active ? For centuries leprosy was a death sentence, with the added brutality of being taken away from your loved ones.
Nowadays… not so much, after the bacteria that causes the disease was identified, there isn’t much to fear, and yet, there are a few colonies that still operate. Surprisingly, one is located in Hawaii. Another in Romania.
As you might have guessed, Spinalonga was also a leper colony. The island has a rich history spanning 100s of years, strangely enough it wasn’t even an island to begin with. It was connected to the mainland of Crete. But you know, war and stuff. It was decided it would serve better as a fortification island.
The last resident of the island left in 1962, today, you can visit the island and experience its history by checking out the old fortress and much more.
3.Prague-Vysehrad (station) - Czech Republic

Alright, this one gets cool points for looks alone. The building served as a railway station in Prague for a long time, but I guess, all good things must come to an end? Not sure.
Using google street view, you can see a dude with a mini ladder walking around the building, but I doubt it was connected to an effort of revitalizing the building. OH snap, where did he go ? here one frame, gone the next. This might be a rabbit hole we DO NOT want to go down in.
Anyway, some American investment firm bought the property without disclosing their plans for it, which really rubbed the locals the wrong way, seeing as that just because the building is abandoned, it does not mean there is no historical value to it.... In 2008, part of the property was illegally demolished, the company was fined and everyone calmed down….
Until 2009, when a gang of squatters moved from their old squatting spot called Villa Milada, but that problem was also short lived as well.
2. Presidio Modelo, Cuba
Ahhh, the model prison. Such a popular spot for rebels, that it even housed the likes of Fidel and Raul Castro.
The prison was originally meant to house around 2500 prisoners in what was considered “humane conditions” during the 30s in Cuba. Well by the time 1961 rolled around, there was more than 4000 prisoners staring each at each other from across the circular building. Obviously there were many riots and hunger strikes.
Ultimately, the prison shut down in 1967, the buildings are now part of a museum, and you can explore almost everything.
1,The House of Soviets - Kaliningrad
At our number one spot, we have the House of Soviets in Kaliningrad. A complete failure of a building that was never officially used . Kaliningrad by the way, is part of Russia, but it's also next to Germany. WEIRD.
The area was originally occupied by the Konigsberg Castle, this is how the castle looked in before 1944, and this is how it looked after 1944….. Yeah….
So the soviets decided to build a big beautiful square robot looking building in its place, and boy did they succeed ! Except for the fact that the land underneath was not able to support such a large structure. After 15 years of construction, the local communist party committee ran out of interest, and funding for the project.
So what happened? Nothing. The building still stands to this day, it did get a fancy new paintjob in 2005 though. What do you think ? Should they destroy it, fix it, or leave it alone ?

So this explore is going down in history as the best explore we have ever been on. So i heard that this abandoned mansion was going up for auction so thought i would go up and have a look and i was not expecting to find what i found. This place was like going into a time capsule everything was still as it was when the owners left beds were made perfect as if people were going to use it. At one point i started to feel as if this place was not abandoned anymore just because it was in such good condition. We thought we had explored all we could explore and was ready to go home but we realized we still had a big section of the house to explore so we went around the back of the mansion realized there was a hidden door and behind that door was amazing and the best bit of the explore this is no clickbait

The Belgian Adventure begins! This week we're at a steam train graveyard. Part of this yard stores abandoned trains and part of it stores trains which are either restored or under restoration.
Exploring the dilapidated ruins of civilisation, abandoned buildings, creepy theme parks, military bases, and underground vaults containing the remnants of a by gone era. And with a bit of comedy and humour chucked in there too, can't be too serious about these things.
We're not serious urban explorers, we just love the adeventure.
Urban Exploration is not for kiddies. Abandoned places are dangerous. Adventures are fun.

A few months ago we went to visit the incredible abandoned city called Slab City. It used to be a military base but hundreds of squatters came and made it their home. We went with our friend Justin Escalona and truly had a fascinating experience. We thought the place would be hostile and dangerous when in fact it was inviting and beautiful (in it's own way).
