EVEN the Gold Coast 600 was not enough to save Aussie Rules legend Warwick Capper from making a loss on his investment unit.

His Surfers Paradise unit, which was marketed as “front row seats to the Gold Coast 600”, sold for a bargain price that was about $50,000 less than he paid.

The home has views of the GC600 track as well as glimpses of the ocean and the Gold Coast skyline, and was earning him $460 a week in rent.

The two bedroom, two bathroom, single garage unit off Gold Coast Highway sold for $346,000 despite being just 150 metres from one of the best beaches on the coast.

Capper had paid $400,000 for the unit in 2010 but was willing to consider any offers over $339,000.

It had been on the market for 84 days according to CoreLogic data. The complex has a pool, barbecue, tennis court and gym, and he was earning $460 a week off the property.

Agents Remax listed the home as coming complete with all furniture which Capper preferred not to resell individually or take to his new residence in Melbourne.

“Warwick doesn’t get serious about much, yet he’s super serious about selling. This has to be the best priced apartment in the market,” the listing said.
