Pomona College is a private liberal arts college located in Claremont, California, United States. Established in 1887, and the founding member of the Claremont Colleges, Pomona is a non-sectarian, coeducational school. Since 1925, the Claremont Colleges, which have grown to include five undergraduate and two graduate institutions, have provided Pomona's student body with the resources of a larger university while maintaining the benefits of a small college.
Pomona is an exclusively undergraduate four-year institution and enrolled approximately 1,640 students in fall 2015. Students design their academic journey from 47 majors and over 2000 consortium-wide courses. A residential life in which over 98% of students live on campus, over 400 opportunities in academic research and pre-professional programs funded by Pomona, and the cultural offerings and experiences of the Greater Los Angeles Area help to complement the classroom experience.
Pomona is ranked first out of all undergraduate colleges and universities in the United States by Forbes, and tied with Bowdoin, Middlebury, and Wellesley colleges for fourth out of all liberal arts colleges by U.S. News & World Report. It is one of the most selective and endowed institutions in the country, with a 9.7% acceptance rate for the 2019 admissions cycle and an endowment per student of over one million dollars. Among the current student body, 70% of students hail from out of state, close to 60% receive need-based financial aid, and over 53% identify as students of color and international students.
Pomona may refer to:
College (Latin: collegium) is an educational institution or a constituent part of one. Usage of the word college varies in English-speaking nations. A college may be a degree-awarding tertiary educational institution, a part of a collegiate university, or an institution offering vocational education.
In the United States and Italy, "college" formally refers to a constituent part of a university, but generally "college" and "university" are used interchangeably, whereas in Oceania and South Asia, "college" may refer to a secondary or high school, a college of further education, a training institution that awards trade qualifications, or a constituent part of a university (See this comparison of British and American English educational terminology for further information).
In ancient Rome a collegium was a club or society, a group of people living together under a common set of rules (con- = "together" + leg- = "law" or lego = "I choose" or "I read").

We took a trip to two of the orientation adventures and here is what we captured! Orientation Adventure offers 11 trips throughout Southern California, ranging from high mountain passes to pristine island waters, Los Angeles neighborhoods to ancient groves of Sequoias. Each trip helps students meet their fellow Sagehens in a fun, non-academic setting, and gives them the opportunity to explore one of the diverse destinations accessible from Pomona. By cooking, cleaning, making camp and spending down-time together, students work as a group to make their trip successful. Orientation Adventure practices “Leave No Trace” excursions, meaning that we try to make our travel have little or no impact on the environments we visit.

Decided to jet off last minute to one of my favorite places in the whole wide world! Even though I grew up visiting Cancun, I had never spent time in Quintana Roo, Tulum. We absolutely fell in love with the town for it's untouched beaches, eco-friendliness, AMAZING food and most of all, the sea turtles!!! It had always been a dream of mine to swim alongside wild turtles in the sea and I was amazed by their beauty and chill personalities. Aside from spending time in Akumal, we visited the Mayan ruins of Tulum, El Gran Cenote and Coba. We also learned all kinds of great tips on how you can travel to Tulum on a budget so feel free to ask me any questions! I hope you all enjoy coming on the journey with us. Mexico has such a special place in my heart. Happy travels!
