Heartbeat (company)

Heartbeat (sometimes Heart Beat) was a Japanese video game developer, famous for developing the sixth and seventh installments of the Dragon Quest series. Heartbeat also developed a remake of Dragon Quest IV. Plans to localize this remake in North America were halted when the employees of Heartbeat decided to take a sabbatical. The company stated its reason was "the raise of development costs", despite the massive financial success of its games. The company no longer exists but several of its members have created Genius Sonority, a company that develops games for Nintendo.

Heartbeat (2PM song)

"Heartbeat" is a song by K-pop band 2PM. It was released on November 10, 2009, as the lead single for The First Album 01:59PM. The song peaked at No. 1 on the Gaon Chart.

Promotion

Six teaser videos, each featuring one of the band members, were released in the weeks leading up to the album's release on YouTube. The videos started with various close-up shots of the band members hooked up to medical equipment and speaking. The videos then pan to a heartbeat monitor, play a short clip of the song, and displays the text "What is your Heartbeating for?" Taecyeon's video mentioned the inclusion of seven members in the band, although the seventh member (Jaebeom) exited the group before release of "Heartbeat."

Music video

The song's music video was released on November 11, 2009, the day after the song's release. It features dark, moody visuals. The color palette is mostly blacks, greys, and whites. It is the band's first music video to exclude Jaebeom, who left the band a few months before the video's release.

Heartbeat (computing)

In computer science, a heartbeat is a periodic signal generated by hardware or software to indicate normal operation or to synchronize other parts of a system. Usually a heartbeat is sent between machines at a regular interval on the order of seconds. If a heartbeat isn't received for a time—usually a few heartbeat intervals—the machine that should have sent the heartbeat is assumed to have failed.

Heartbeat protocol

A heartbeat protocol is generally used to negotiate and monitor the availability of a resource, such as a floating IP address. Typically when a heartbeat starts on a machine, it will perform an election process with other machines on the heartbeat network to determine which machine, if any, owns the resource. On heartbeat networks of more than two machines, it is important to take into account partitioning, where two halves of the network could be functioning but not able to communicate with each other. In a situation such as this, it is important that the resource is only owned by one machine, not one machine in each partition.

Celestial (Circle X album)

Celestial is the final full-length studio album by Circle X and was released in 1994.

After experimenting and releasing EPs for more than a decade, Celestial marked the band's first major release since Prehistory in 1983.

Celestial is regarded as "showcasing the diverse, honed ideas in an impressive cycle of thought-provoking bludgeons and sublime dirges", and "Circle X made it seem like no wave never went away."

The album would be the last album by Circle X, due to the death of founding member and guitarist Bruce Witsiepe from HIV complications in 1995.

Celestial (comics)

The Celestials are a group of fictional characters appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics.

Immensely powerful and of huge humanoid shape, the Celestials are some of the oldest entities in the Marvel Comics universe. They debuted in the Bronze Age of Comic Books and have appeared in Marvel publications for four decades. They also appear in various forms of merchandise such as trading cards.

Publication history

The Celestials debuted in Eternals #1 (July 1976) and were created by writer-artist Jack Kirby. They reappeared as regular guest stars in three subsequent limited series sequels: Eternals vol. 2, #1 - 12 (October 1985 - September 1986), Eternals vol. 3, #1 - 7 (August 2006 - February 2007), and Eternals vol. 4, #1 - 9 (August 2008 - May 2009).

The characters have also been featured in other titles, including the "Celestial Saga" storyline in Thor Annual #7 (1978), Thor #283 – 300 (May 1979 - October 1980), Thor #387 – 389 (January–March 1988), Quasar #24 (July 1991), Fantastic Four #400 (May 1995), X-Factor #43-46 (August–November 1989) and #48-50 (December 1989 x 2 - January 1990).

Hail

Hail is a form of solid precipitation. It is distinct from sleet, though the two are often confused for one another. It consists of balls or irregular lumps of ice, each of which is called a hailstone. Sleet falls generally in cold weather while hail growth is greatly inhibited during cold surface temperatures.

Unlike graupel, which is made of rime, and ice pellets, which are smaller and translucent, hailstones consist mostly of water ice and measure between 5 millimetres (0.2 in) and 15 centimetres (6 in) in diameter. The METAR reporting code for hail 5 mm (0.20 in) or greater is GR, while smaller hailstones and graupel are coded GS.

Hail is possible within most thunderstorms as it is produced by cumulonimbi, and within 2 nautical miles (3.7 km) of the parent storm. Hail formation requires environments of strong, upward motion of air with the parent thunderstorm (similar to tornadoes) and lowered heights of the freezing level. In the mid-latitudes, hail forms near the interiors of continents, while in the tropics, it tends to be confined to high elevations.
