Dhaka (Bengali: ঢাকা, pronounced: [ˈd̪ʱaka]; English /dɑːkə/, /dækə/; formerly spelled as Dacca) is the capital of Bangladesh. It is the principal city of Dhaka District and Dhaka Division. Dhaka is one of world's most populated cities, with a population of about 7 million people. The Greater Dhaka Area covers a population of 17 million people. The historic quarter of Dhaka stands on the east bank of the Buriganga River. It is located in the central part of the Bengal delta. Bengali Muslims make up the majority of the population, followed by Bengali Hindu, Bengali Buddhist, Bengali Christian and Bahai Faith communities.
The city's name was Jahangir Nagar (City of Jahangir) in the 17th century. It was the Mughal capital of Bengal for 75 years; and flourished in trade and culture as a cosmopolitan commercial capital and the hub of the worldwide muslin and silk trade. The city hosted two major caravansaries of the subcontinent: the Bara Katra and Choto Katra, located on the riverfront of the Buriganga. The Mughals decorated the city with well-laid out gardens, tombs, mosques, palaces and forts. Dhaka became known as the City of Mosques in Bengal. It was also described as the Venice of the East. The old city was home to various Eurasian merchant groups. At the height of its medieval glory, Dhaka was regarded as one of the wealthiest and most prosperous cities in the world. It was central to the economy of Mughal Bengal, which generated 50% of Mughal GDP.

Bangladesh (/bɑːŋlɑːdɛʃ/; i/ˌbæŋɡləˈdæʃ/; বাংলাদেশ, pronounced: [ˈbaŋlad̪eʃ], lit. "The land of Bengal"), officially the People's Republic of Bangladesh (গণপ্রজাতন্ত্রী বাংলাদেশ Gônôprôjatôntri Bangladesh), is a country in South Asia. It is bordered by India to its west, north and east; Myanmar (Burma) to its southeast; and is separated from Nepal and Bhutan by the Chicken's Neck corridor. To its south, it faces the Bay of Bengal. Bangladesh is the world's eighth-most populous country, with over 168 million people. It is one of the most densely populated countries, and among countries with a population exceeding 10 million, it is the most densely populated. It forms part of the ethno-linguistic region of Bengal, along with the neighbouring Indian states of West Bengal and Tripura.
The present-day borders of Bangladesh took shape during the Partition of Bengal and the British India in 1947, when the region came to be known as East Pakistan, as a part of the newly formed state of Pakistan. It was separated from West Pakistan by 1,400 kilometres (870 mi) of Indian territory. Because of political exclusion, ethnic and linguistic discrimination and economic neglect by the politically dominant western wing, nationalism, popular agitation and civil disobedience led to the Bangladesh Liberation War and independence in 1971. After independence, the new state endured poverty, famine, political turmoil and military coups. The restoration of democracy in 1991 has been followed by relative calm and economic progress. In 2014, the Bangladeshi general election was boycotted by major opposition parties, resulting in a parliament and government dominated by the Awami League and its smaller coalition partners.

Welcome to the capital city of one of the most densely populated countries in the world! Dhaka is the city with tough conditions for survival. Residents confront the same challenges as in a modern metropolis and are concerned about personal safety. A high share of economically active population creates fierce competition for a decent job, so locals have to struggle for a good place under the sun. Everyone who is driven by strong motivation has a fair chance to change one’s life for the better. A group of InstaForex delegates arrived in Bangladesh aiming to present the system of personal development for a financially literate individual. We hope that InstaForex contribution to the development of financial literacy in Bangladesh will be recognized and many people here will improve their weal...
Dhaka is the capital city of Bangladesh. With an estimated 15.5 million people living in greater Dhaka, it is also the tenth largest city in the world. In December 2014, I spent several days in this city, and was at times overwhelmed by the sights and sounds of the place. Gladly, the people I met along the way were usually incredibly friendly and helpful. In this video, there are shots of the Buriganga river that meanders through the city, clips from the streets, people at work, a shipyard, one of the busy bazaars, the Baital Mukarram mosque during Friday prayer, and Ramna Park where Dhaka's youth come to play cricket. shot and cut by Max Andrew Dubinsky "Oh Great God, Give Us Rest" written and performed by David Crowder Band In 2013 I was invited by Food for the Hungry to visit Dhaka, Bangladesh and visit with men, women, and children living in slums where the population struggles with gaining access to clean water and food. They have limited knowledge of personal hygiene, nutrition, saving, and education. Young women are married off by the age of sixteen to men twice their age, and young boys are put to work to help provide for their family rather than sent to school. This is a series of clips from my recent trip to Bangladesh last month, they were all shot while waiting in traffic in Dhaka. Everything but the first two clips was shot in over cranked at 48fps. Bangladesh is the worlds most densely populated country with over 2000 people per square mile. Human power runs this country. In Dhaka: a dense urban landscape, the streets are crammed with Bicycle Rickshaws. Meet Amanda Ryan. She's the creator of Bachhara, an Australia-based fashion label set to take the social entpreneur world by storm. But this isn't your everyday fashion--far from it. It's fashion with a conscience. Soon, she hopes that Bachhara will be able to put hundreds of Dhaka's most underprivileged children into the schools created by Jaago founder Korvi Rakshand. This is my first ever DSLR video creation as I've decided to start learning the trade from scratch. As the author of Bangladesh: The Bradt Travel Guide, I've been very fortunate to come across great stories like this.. and now I want to share them with you! PS: Tk3000 per month is less than US$50 per month. Bachhara pays their workers Tk5000 plus medical benefits and education for worker's children.

Everything I do Is all done for you
Lady I'm yours
And everywhere I go
You're always on my mind
You're all I adore
And I'll go
Outta my way
Just to assure
That our love endures I'm yours
Girl I'm never far away I'll be right there (right there)
To keep you nice and warm I'm rushing right home
Girl I'm never far away I'll be right there (right there)
To protect you from the storm I'm rushing right home
Girl I'll be there I'll be right there
I don't need you say
That I love you
A million times a day
Just the little things I do
All done for you
That's how I display
Love
And I'll go
Out of my way
Just to assure you baby
That our love endures I'm yours
Girl I'm never far away I'll be right there (right there)
To keep you nice and warm
(Girl I'll keep you nice and warm,
You know I'll keep you nice and warm
You know I'll keep you nice and warm)
Girl I'm never far away I'll be right there (I'll be right there)
To protect you from the storm I'm rushing right home
Girl I'll be there I'll be right there
You don't have to go and check my pager
Check my phone and search my pants to figure me out (ha)
Cause I'm an honest man
Don't need a plan, a stronger man
Cause girl there is no doubt
My love's real (as real as it comes)
Even though we are a million miles away from each other
I'm still right here, right here for you
(Here for you, here for you) I could search a million years
And still I wouldn't find anyone as beautiful as you
So rest assured our love endures I'm never far away...
(I'm rushing home baby, I'm coming home baby) I'm never far away...
