Bangkok is at the heart of the Thai economy with 90% of the country's export trade taking place in the capital. The Asian Kingdom is also becoming an evermore attractive production location for foreign businesses, which are attracted by its stable infrastructure and tax incentives. The king is dead and Thailand is officially in mourning for an entire year. So what sort of impact will this have on the country and its economy, especially after a decade filled with political turmoil? In 2004, tourism was accountable for up to 19.3 percent of Thailand's GDP, but with the military coup of 2014, the traditionally resilient Thai economy struggled. Now with the country in a subdued mood - especially for the first 30 days after the king's death - there are concerns there could be an economic downturn. The growth forecast has already been set for only 3.1 percent this year. But beyond that, there's the issue of a decade of political instability in Thailand - the type which can easily put foreign investors off. How likely is a long-term downturn as a result of said unpredic...

Thailand is a newly industrialized country. Its economy is heavily export-dependent, with exports accounting for more than two-thirds of its gross domestic product (GDP). In 2012, according to the Office of the National Economic and Social Development Board, Thailand had a GDP of THB11.375 trillion (USD366 billion). The Thai economy grew by 6.5 percent, with a headline inflation rate of 3.02 percent and an account surplus of 0.7 percent of the country's GDP. In 2013, the Thai economy is expected to grow in the range of 3.8-4.3 percent. During the first half of 2013 (Q1-Q2/2013), the Thai economy grew by 4.1 percent (YoY). After seasonally adjusted, however, the Thai GDP contracted by 1.7 percent and 0.3 percent in the first and the second quarters of 2013, respectively. Given a contraction...
Thailand’s economy is expected to grow 3.2% in 2016 and 2017, with the service sector driving much of that increase. We asked Thai people working in a variety of service sector jobs for their views on the Thai economy and what they think could help grow the country in the near future.

More information http://www.eatingthaifood.com/2012/05/traditional-thai-food-the-local/ on this link. Within the hustle of modern Thai food, it can be challenging to actually find authentic and traditional Thai food. In Bangkok, street food though very delicious, is modified so it's easier to make and quicker to sell. This of course, isn't bad, and Thai street food is outstanding, but it can be nice to get back to the roots of Thai cuisine and experience a meal that accentuates the passion and the deep flavors that Thai cuisine has become so famous for. In this video the Eating Thai Food crew heads over to The Local Restaurant in Bangkok, Thailand (just off Asoke road) for an unforgettable dining experience. First off the owner and Chef Cann explains a little about local Thai culinary ...

Patong Bangla Road Nightlife - Phuket 2016 - VLOG 63 A video taken in March 2016 of my last night out at Bangla Road, Patong. On this day I'd just found out that a Pattaya video on this channel had gone viral with 1 million views in 2 days. Needless to say I was very happy and went out drinking early to celebrate. This accounts for me being terribly worse for wear by the end of the evening! I started drinking early in the Kangaroo bar (a longstanding and highly recommended bar) and ended up turning the camera off and just having some great banter with a load of random Aussie blokes. Later on the evening was a blur where I stumbled from bar to bar in a drunken haze (so that accounts for this video being a bit more random than normal). Some of the parts included in this vid are: ...

First up is the Grand Palace of Bangkok. It dates back to 1782, it’s the number one visited site in all of Thailand. The complex houses the royal palace, government buildings and the temple of the emerald Buddha. Its important to dress appropriately, that means no shorts, sleeves tops and no tight pants. Next up is my favorite place to eat in Bangkok, Boat Noodle Alley. It was recommended to me back Mark Wiens of Migrationology the authority of Thai cuisine. Its located next to victory monum...

Decades of over-development, primarily driven by an international demand for Thai seafood had devastating effects on Thailand's coastline and wildlife. As mangrove forests were destroyed to build shrimp farms, coastal villages were left unprotected from mass erosion, washing away entire villages. Saisunee Chaksuin, WWF's Irrawaddy Dolphin Project Manager and passionate Thai conservationist, has worked hand in hand with the community to guide their mangrove conservation efforts; setting an example of personal commitment that really lead to a positive change for people, species and the environment. Through WWFs mangrove restoration efforts in collaboration with local villages, the Thai people have begun to reclaim the lost mangrove forests, and iconic wildlife have returned to the region.
License Video: http://dissolve.com/products?media_type=video&producer;=Pete+R&sort;_by_date=true Due to the many unused footages from South East Asia travel video https://vimeo.com/157133452, I decided to break up the countries down individually starting from Thailand. At the beginning of 2016, I travelled briefly in Thailand with the people I met on the road. I wanted to see more of my own country so I decided to tag along with them. The trip took me to Kho Phangan, Koh Lipe and the Khasok National Park and all of these have one thing in common.. the mode of transportation. I realized that in traveling long distances around these areas, we had to rely on the long tail boat which is an integral part of the local's way of living in the south of Thailand. Thanks to the long tail boat, we were...

The World Before Me is a modern-day round the world trip, set to the words of a 19th century poet. “Afoot and light-hearted I take to the open road, healthy, free, the world before me.” 160 years have passed since Walt Whitman penned this text, but feelings about travel remain the same. We’re still inspired by the open road and still excited by discovering the unknown. In the fall of 2015, while preparing for a trip that would take me literally around the world, I couldn't shake the desire to share the experience of travel, which for me is a very personal one. This film is the culmination of that desire. I carried my camera for 5 months through 15 countries. The endless metropolis of Tokyo, tiny islands of The Philippines, busy streets of India, the Swiss Alps and the Scottish Highland...

Every fruit that ripens has exactly just 3 parts
It has the seeds, the juice, the flesh push down these
narrow streets and carts
But you know that every other mango is filled with the
tiny bits of snow
That make up every pretty lady that you know
And if they put the milk in here unbearably thin
And if they take it out well then you'll sup with the
fishermen
You've got 3 pairs of the black and an assortment of
the rest
But that wont put hair upon your chest
Think a little smaller and these beaches never end
The sun is always setting just a little further west
Follow it along and the story will be told
How the girl who chased the light never got old
Because how can time be passing if you never see the
moon
Some people fool themselves within the pearls of the
lagoon
But you can't trade jewels for light or kaleidoscopes
for sights
Sometimes closed eyes make the picturesque more bright
I wish the cameras of the world would fade to a purple
puff of smoke
A vacation without a photograph is just an egg without
a yoke
But the beans grow overnight through the ever present
light
And the bean can match an egg yoke bite for bite
So think a little longer about the crop you chose to
grow
Remember all the mangos with their tiny bits of snow
And that lady will be waiting to walk with you hand in
hand
