A major police operation in the Parramatta CBD has ended after police deemed a suspicious package to be safe.
During the hour-long operation on Monday morning, several streets were shut down and access to the Westfield shopping centre was blocked.
The Parramatta bus interchange was closed, forcing buses to drop passengers on Station Street.
Trains were suspended between Harris Park and Westmead. Some passengers reported being stuck at Parramatta station for an hour.
It's believed police found the suspicious package close to the Westfield mall.
Church and Argyle streets were closed while officers assessed it.
A witness, Ali Daher, said tape was erected in the shopping centre while helicopters hovered above. She said about 40 police officers flooded the centre.
"They wouldn't let anyone in or out of the shopping centre," he said.
There are still delays on the T1 Western Line, Blue Mountains Line and T5 Cumberland Line, the Transport Management Centre said.

On Monday morning, a police spokeswoman would not elaborate on what the operation was in relation to, but said it did not appear to be terrorism related at that stage.
"A police operation is currently under way at the intersection of Argyle and Church streets in Parramatta. Motorists are advised to avoid the area. No further information at this time," she said.
One man posted on Facebook: "Massive police presence in Parramatta. Everything closed down near the Westfield Shopping Centre! They won't say what's happening. Can't take buses anywhere near our interchange."
Just before noon, the Transport Management Centre said bus services were still starting and ending on Smith Street, near George Street.
Some train services were starting or ending at Granville station.
"A police operation has ended near the Parramatta Interchange and trains are resuming between Harris Park and Westmead on the T1 Western Line, Blue Mountains Line and T5 Cumberland Line," the Transport Management Centre said.
"Buses continue to divert away from the Parramatta Interchange but are expected to return to the location shortly. Passengers should continue to allow extra travel time until services return to normal."
