Juu San Thar also won a chance to compete in Miss Globe International 2014 Beauty Contest which will be in Turkey. Ei Mon Khine (contestant number 10) and May Zin Mar Ko (contestant number 19) won 1st Runner Up and 2nd Runner Up awards respectively.

They played, raised money, and gave a shout out across the globe to their brothers and sisters in Yangon who have built their scene in the face of repression and show true punk ethics in setting up the country's first Food Not Bombs group.

Yangon
Yangon (Burmese: ရန်ကုန်, MLCTS rankun mrui, pronounced: [jàɴɡòʊɴ mjo̰]; also known as Rangoon, literally: "End of Strife") is a former capital of Myanmar (Burma) and the capital of Yangon Region. It also served as the Capital in Exile of Azad Hind. Yangon is the country's largest city with a population of over five million, and is the most important commercial centre, although the military government officially relocated the capital to Naypyidaw in March 2006.
Although Yangon's infrastructure is undeveloped compared to those of other major cities in south-east Asia, it has the largest number of colonial buildings in the region today. While many high-rise residential and commercial buildings have been constructed or renovated throughout downtown and Greater Yangon in the past two decades, most satellite towns that ring the city continue to be deeply impoverished.
Etymology
Yangon (ရန်ကုန်) is a combination of the two words yan (ရန်) and koun (ကုန်), which mean "enemies" and "run out of" respectively. It is also translated as "End of Strife". "Rangoon" most likely comes from the British imitation of the pronunciation of "Yangon" in the Arakanese language, which is [rɔ̀ɴɡʊ́ɴ].

A country surrounded by India, China, Laos and Thailand with a fascinating mêlée of tribes and cultures plus a tranquil harmony of churches, pagodas, Hindu temples and mosques. Here, contrast is all, and that makes Yangon unique!The Chaukhtatkyi Pagoda contains one of the largest prone Buddha statues in the world. Its length makes up for its lack of artistry as it is seventy metres long. Over six hundred monks live in the adjoining monastery that was founded in 1907 for the study of Buddhist scripts that are known as ‘Palikanums’. Planning a trip to Yangon? There are dozens of things to see and do in this beautiful city, but there are eight places you really don't want to miss, including the Shwedagon Pagoda, the Musmeah Yeshua Synagogue, the Bogyoke Aung San Market and Kandawgyi Lake. Learn about all eight attractions in this travel video.
Yangon’s culture is diverse and fascinating, with a variety of attractions to prove it. The city is home to many beautiful pagodas, or payas. Known as the oldest and most important is the Shwedagon Pagoda, which dominates the skyline. You can’t afford to miss the Shwedagon, but there are others worth checking out too. The Sule Paya isn’t as big, but it’s thought to be just as old. Botataung Paya, situated on the Yangon River, might not be as impressive as the Shwedagon, but its stupa is hollow and visitors are allowed inside to see the relics. You should also stop by the Chauk Htat Gyi Pagoda to see the famous giant reclining Buddha. For a different religious experience, visit the beautifully preserved Musmeah Yeshua Synagogue, Burma’s only synagogue, left over from the colonial era. Another great way to take in Yangon’s vibrant culture is by exploring the Bogyoke Aung San Market, where you can buy antiques or handcrafted goods, and watch locals go about their daily business. When you want a break from the bustling city, head for one of Yangon’s beautiful parks. Kandawgyi Lake might be artificial, and it isn’t Yangon’s largest, but it offers a view of the Karaweik, a magnificent replica of a Burmese royal barge. The Yangon Zoo is also on Kandawgyi Lake, so stop by to visit the huge variety of animals living there. There’s a lot to see in Yangon, and you won’t want to miss any of it.
