'CITY MUSIC' out June 16 via Dead Oceans by Kevin Morby

I couldn't be happier to announce the release of 'City Music,' my fourth album, out June 16 on Dead Oceans. The record is a collection of ten songs, a Germs cover and a Flannery O'Conor passage read by my friend Meg Baird, inspired by and devoted to my metropolitan experience across America. It is a mix-tape, a fever dream, a love letter dedicated to those cities that I cannot get rid of, to those cities that are all inside of me.

The tracklisting is below, and today, from the road, I'm sharing the first song off the album, 'Come To Me Now.' The organ you’re hearing on this song is an old pump organ from the 1800s, I wish I could remember the brand – but I don’t. This was my favorite part of recording this album, playing this thing and pumping air into it with the foot pedals, it had such a presence from the moment I entered the studio. For the first few days I think I thought it was just there for looks, that there was no way it still worked, but sure enough it did. Above it hung a framed photo of the original owner of the studios property who died sometime ago. Apparently his ghost still occupies the premises.

As I find myself on this new tour, more US and European dates have been added to the calendar and I can't wait to play the new songs for you and see you all on the road.

Thank you for the support, peace and love,
–KM

'Beautiful Strangers' & 'No Place To Fall,' in memory of the victims of Orlando and in support of Everytown for Gun Safety by Kevin Morby

You can listen to "Beautiful Strangers" & "No Place To Fall" here:
https://kevinmorby.bandcamp.com/album/beautiful-strangers-b-w-no-place-to-fall

This release is dedicated to and written for all the people I have never met but have only read about. The innocent people who were out living their lives and one day, without warning, had them taken away from them. People who liked to laugh, dance, and love in the way that we all do, but cant anymore. All those names and faces, all those beautiful strangers...

So here are two songs, "Beautiful Strangers" as well as my cover of Townes Van Zandt's "No Place To Fall" that I have been closing my live show with over the past year. Any donation, no matter what size, in purchase of these two songs will go to Everytown for Gun Safety – an organization I have followed for quite some time. I believe in and support them in their efforts to make the world a safer place. So if you wish – you can donate as little or large as you'd like and I do hope you enjoy the songs. Do it for the kids.

Love and peace,
Kevin Morby

ps: a big thank you to Pitchfork for the wonderful write up.

TINY FIRES by Kevin Morby

A few days ago "Tiny Fires" came out. It's a song that I wrote right after finishing Singing Saw in my bedroom in Mt. Washington, Los Angeles, and that I had not released previously.

So glad to have my pals and bandmates Meg and Justin perform on it, too!

Hope you enjoy,
–KM

'Singing Saw' is out! by Kevin Morby

Today I bid 'Singing Saw' farewell! Off to the universe she goes - to whoever it is that cares to listen. I hope that if you choose to do so, that you do enjoy it as much as we all did in making it.

You can listen to it on Spotify here: http://sptfy.com/singingsaw

Endless thanks and praise to those who had a hand in and helped before-after-and during. Too many to name but you know who you are and I love you. To anyone reading this hopefully we will play a venue near you very soon - please come say hi.

All hail: Sam Cohen for producing, D. James Goodwin for his studio and incredible talent within mixing and engineering - and to Justin Sullivan - cause if he cant be there - then I don't wanna do it!

Also a big thank you to the kind folks at Pitchfork for the amazing support!

'SINGING SAW' OUT 4/15 ON DEAD OCEANS by Kevin Morby

The time has finally come! I couldn't be more excited to share the news that my next record, Singing Saw, will be out in the world on April 15 on Dead Oceans. You can preorder it now from Dead Oceans, iTunes, Amazon or your local independent record store.

Thank you so much to Pitchfork for the announcement this morning.

This record represents a new chapter for me. Written in Los Angeles and recorded in Woodstock, NY, it has been a beautiful and enriching process all the way, to which many of my talented friends have been a part of. Looking forward for you all to listen!

European pals: I'll be playing the following cities this coming May. Can't wait to play the new tunes live.

Peace,
—KM
