Leith Stevens (September 13, 1909 – July 23, 1970) was an American music composer and conductor of radio and film scores.
Born in Mount Moriah, a village located in Harrison County in northwestern Missouri, a rural region noted for abundant oak trees, deer hunting and fishing. Stevens was a child prodigy pianist who was also an accompanist for operatic vocalist and early audio recording artist Madame Schumann-Heink.
During World War II Stevens worked as radio director for the Southwest Pacific Area for the U.S. Office of War Information. He was musical director of the War Production Board (WPB) series Three Thirds of a Nation presented on Wednesdays on the NBC Blue Network.
Stevens wrote the music, including a piano concerto in C minor, for the 1947 Hollywood film 'Night Song' where concert pianist Arthur Rubinstein played to the accompaniment of the New York Philharmonic conducted by Eugene Ormandy. The music is tonal, with a horizontal (as distinct from vertical) compositional approach, with sophisticated harmonies and challenging virtuoso passages for the piano. The work is influenced by Delius, Rachmaninov, and Gershwin, and is both impressionist and romantic. Stevens' piano concerto can currently be found on You Tube (2016).

Leith /ˈliːθ/; Scottish Gaelic: Lìte; is a district to the north of the city of Edinburgh at the mouth of the Water of Leith.
The earliest surviving historical references are in the royal charter authorising the construction of Holyrood Abbey in 1128. The medieval settlements of Leith had grown into a burgh by 1833, and the burgh was merged into Edinburgh in 1920.
Leith is sited on the coast of the Firth of Forth and lies within the council area of the City of Edinburgh.
The port remains one of its most valuable enterprises, handling over 1.5 million tonnes of cargo a year in 2003.
Previous to the bridge being built in the late 15th century, Leith had settlements on either side of the river, lacking an easy crossing.
South Leith was larger and was controlled by the lairds of Restalrig: the Logan family. It was based on trade and had many merchants' houses and warehouses. This was where ships offloaded their cargoes at The Shore where they were collected by Edinburgh merchants. Leithers were explicitly forbidden by statute to participate directly in the trade at the port, to ensure that landed goods were not sold elsewhere.

The Wild is a 2006 American computer animated adventure family comedy film directed by animator Steve "Spaz" Williams, written by Ed Decter, John J. Strauss, Mark Gibson and Philip Halprin, features the voices of Kiefer Sutherland, Jim Belushi, Janeane Garofalo, Greg Cipes, Eddie Izzard, Richard Kind, William Shatner and Patrick Warburton and produced by Clint Goldman, Will Vinton (who serves as an executive producer) and Beau Flynn. The film was a C.O.R.E. Feature Animation and Walt Disney Pictures production, and it was distributed by Buena Vista Pictures. It was released to theaters on April 14, 2006 in North America by Buena Vista Pictures and Walt Disney Pictures. The film received generally negative reviews from critics and it earned $102,338,515 on a $80 million budget.
The Wild One is a 1953 American film directed by László Benedek and produced by Stanley Kramer. It is most noted for the character of Johnny Strabler (Marlon Brando), whose persona became a cultural icon of the 1950s. The Wild One is considered to be the original outlaw biker film, and the first to examine American outlaw motorcycle gang violence.
The film's screenplay was based on Frank Rooney's short story "The Cyclists' Raid", published in the January 1951 Harper's Magazine and anthologized in The Best American Short Stories 1952. Rooney's story was inspired by sensationalistic media coverage of an American Motorcyclist Association motorcycle rally that got out of hand on the Fourth of July weekend in 1947 in Hollister, California. The overcrowding, drinking and street stunting were given national attention in the July 21, 1947 issue of Life Magazine, with a staged photograph of a wild drunken man on a motorcycle. The events, conflated with the newspaper and magazine reports, Rooney's short story, and the film The Wild One are part of the legend of the Hollister riot.

A classic of science-fiction George Pal and Byron Haskins The War of the Worlds is still effective now as it was back in 1953. The film is based on Herbert George Wells immortal novel of the same name which was published in 1898. It was the first alien invasion story in history. The material was later adapted again by Steven Spielberg. Whose 2005 film contains many homages to George Pal and Byron Haskin's version. The 1953 film takes many liberties with the source material. The location was moved from Great Britain to the USA, the Martian tripods have become flying machines and the Martians are nothing like the squid-like creatures from the novel. But still the story doesnt lose any of its impact. The music for this classic was composed by Leith Stevens. Who also scored When Worlds ...
