Fed, The Fed or FED may refer to:
Minutes, also known as protocols or, informally, notes, are the instant written record of a meeting or hearing. They typically describe the events of the meeting and may include a list of attendees, a statement of the issues considered by the participants, and related responses or decisions for the issues.
Minutes may be created during the meeting by a typist or court reporter, who may use shorthand notation and then prepare the minutes and issue them to the participants afterwards. Alternatively, the meeting can be audio recorded, video recorded, or a group's appointed or informally assigned secretary may take notes, with minutes prepared later. Many government agencies use minutes recording software to record and prepare all minutes in real-time.
Minutes are the official written record of the meetings of an organization or group. They are not transcripts of those proceedings. Using Robert's Rules of Order Newly Revised (RONR), the minutes should contain mainly a record of what was done at the meeting, not what was said by the members. The organization may have its own rules regarding the content of the minutes.
The Federal Reserve System—also known as the Federal Reserve or simply as the Fed—is the central banking system of the United States. It was created on December 23, 1913, with the enactment of the Federal Reserve Act, largely in response to a series of financial panics, particularly a severe panic in 1907. Over time, the roles and responsibilities of the Federal Reserve System have expanded, and its structure has evolved. Events such as the Great Depression in the 1930s were major factors leading to changes in the system.
The U.S. Congress established three key objectives for monetary policy in the Federal Reserve Act: maximizing employment, stabilizing prices, and moderating long-term interest rates. The first two objectives are sometimes referred to as the Federal Reserve's dual mandate. Its duties have expanded over the years, and as of 2009 also include supervising and regulating banks, maintaining the stability of the financial system and providing financial services to depository institutions, the U.S. government, and foreign official institutions. The Fed conducts research into the economy and releases numerous publications, such as the Beige Book.
The United States dollar (sign: $; code: USD; also abbreviated US$ and referred to as the dollar, U.S. dollar, or American dollar) is the official currency of the United States and its overseas territories. It is a Federal Reserve Note and consists of 100 smaller cent units.
The U.S. dollar is fiat money. It is the currency most used in international transactions and is the world's most dominant reserve currency. Several countries use it as their official currency, and in many others it is the de facto currency. Besides the United States, it is also used as the sole currency in two British Overseas Territories in the Caribbean: the British Virgin Islands and the Turks and Caicos islands. A few countries use only the U.S. Dollar for paper money, while the country mints its own coins, or also accepts U.S. coins that can be used as payment in U.S. dollars, such as the Susan B. Anthony dollar.
The Constitution of the United States of America provides that the United States Congress has the power "To coin money". Laws implementing this power are currently codified at 31 U.S.C. § 5112. Section 5112 prescribes the forms, in which the United States dollars should be issued. These coins are both designated in Section 5112 as "legal tender" in payment of debts. The Sacagawea dollar is one example of the copper alloy dollar. The pure silver dollar is known as the American Silver Eagle. Section 5112 also provides for the minting and issuance of other coins, which have values ranging from one cent to 50 dollars. These other coins are more fully described in Coins of the United States dollar.

Griffin then goes into how prosperous a society can be without the state and how the new king in the eyes of much of the populace is always better than the old king regardless of the repetitive reality we see repeating time and time again. He talks about voluntary societies, the private contract vs the social contract and how we can be free. Mr. Griffin then goes into the Audit The Fed bill endorsed by President Donald Trump and introduced by Rand Paul a...

Bernanke's answer: yes.

"The bubbles are pretty much everywhere," says investment guru and radio host Peter Schiff, CEO of Euro Pacific Capital. "They are in the stock market, they are in the bond market, they are in the real estate market, they are in the U.S. dollar." Schiff sat down with Reason's Matt Welch while at FreedomFest 2015 to discuss the dollar, his support of Rand Paul, and his argument that we are already living in another stock bubble. "The mainstream—the investors, the government, central banks—they never see a crisis until after the fact. And then they go back and they say, 'Well nobody could have possibly predicted this. This was a complete random occurrence that had nothing to do with our policy,'" says Schiff. "They never understood the cause of the bubble that burst in '08. They didn't u...

When alienmelon approached me about starring as the Electric Love Potato desktop assistant I didn't expect much. I was intrigued by the idea of a potato being an actual assistant. Potatoes are not well known for doing this. It was an interesting role, and one that I am now extremely proud of....

Eloise Hawser: ‘This machine is all about contact and resistance’ The artist explains the complex mechanisms of a cinema organ and its colour-changer to Studio International with ease and clarity. The light in the ICA’s lower gallery changes colour slowly, switching through a deliciously dilute RGB spectrum; the gentle buzzing hum in the background offers a white noise that could lull one to sleep. In the centre of the room stands a curious contraption: a colour-changer taken from the cinema organ once found at the Stockport Regal. Capable of conflating a spectacle of music and light, cinema organs were developed by the British telephone engineer, Robert Hope-Jones, in the early 20th century, to replace the orchestras that had previously accompanied silent movies. Placed behind often ...
Iggy Pop being interviewed on a Toronto TV show, in March 1977. But later he says, "This is serious business to me, do you understand? It's very serious. I feel very strongly about what I do. And it's not all that good. I'm not that great, you know, really…” I don’t know about you - but I hadn’t seen this complete interview before. So here’s ten wonderful minutes in the company of Iggy Pop, forty years ago, in a Toronto TV studio, in the midst of the promotion and the tour that he and Bowie were doing for The Idiot.
