The Video Home System (VHS) is a standard for consumer-level use of analog recording on videotape cassettes. It was developed by Victor Company of Japan (JVC) in the 1970s.
From the 1950s magnetic tape video recording became a major contributor to the television industry, via the first commercialized video tape recorders (VTRs). At that time, the devices were used only in expensive professional environments such as television studios and medical imaging (fluoroscopy). In the 1970s videotape entered home use, creating the home video industry and changing the economics of the television and movie businesses. The television industry viewed VCRs as having the power to disrupt their business, while television users viewed the VCR as the means to take control of their hobby.
In the 1980s and 1990s, at the peak of VHS's popularity, there were videotape format wars in the home video industry. Two of the formats, VHS and Betamax, received the most media exposure. VHS eventually won the war, succeeding as the dominant home video format throughout the tape media period.
Adam Wingard (born December 3, 1982) is an American film director, editor, cinematographer, and writer.
Wingard was born in Oak Ridge, Tennessee and graduated from Full Sail University in 2002. His first feature, the horror-comedy Home Sick, starring Bill Moseley and Tiffany Shepis, proved to be a stepping stone to his second feature, the psychotropic ghost story thriller Pop Skull. Made on a total budget of $2,000, Pop Skull had its international premiere at the Rome Film Festival and its domestic premiere at the AFI Film Festival in 2007. A Horrible Way to Die (2010) and What Fun We Were Having (2011) followed.
The serial killer love story thriller A Horrible Way to Die premiered at the 2010 Toronto International Film Festival in the ‘Vanguard’ section and was acquired by Starz/Anchor Bay at the festival for a North American theatrical and home media release. What Fun We Were Having is a 4-part anthology dealing with the taboo subject of date rape. The anthology had its premiere at the 2011 Fantastia Film Festival in Montreal where Wingard was honored by the festival with his very own sidebar section: “Medicated Monsters – A Spotlight on Filmmaker Adam Wingard”.

Lane Hughes is an American actor and musician.
In 2003, filmmaker Adam Wingard approached Hughes with the idea of doing a semi-autobiographical film about a recent breakup. They conceived the film as "one-part psychedelic, one-part horror and one-part romance" and made it for $3,000.
Pop Skull screened at several major film festivals, including the American Film Institute and the Rome Film Festival. It won the jury award at the Boston Underground Film Festival and the Grand Jury Prize at the Indianapolis International Film Festival. The film depicts the lonely and disjointed life of Daniel, a young Alabama pill addict, as his efforts to cope with the trials of his day-to-day life collide with the increasing influence of murderous and displaced spirits that inhabit his home.
Reviews were generally enthusiastic. LA Splash said Hughes gave "a truly magnetic Manson vibe the entire time, allowing director Adam Wingard to make great use of the extreme close-up." The Grudge screenwriter Stephen Susco remarked that it was "unlike any horror film you've ever seen - or will ever see..." Variety called the movie "powerful" and suggested it created "a new genre: acid horror."

Plot: A steamy, raunchy, horror/comedy, in the style of a classic, campy, strait to video, 1980s horror movie. The film tells the story of a three hundred year old, Hungarian vampire/succubus disguised as a female high school teacher. The teacher seduces all of her small-minded popular students, and then possesses them to kidnap all the school sluts with the intention of draining and drinking their blood, in order to retain her erotic beauty. The only people that can stop her rain of terror are three social outcasts, and a psychotic janitor. "Sadistic Eroticism" is full of hilarious, politically incorrect, and edgy humor, as well as steamy sex and slap stick violence.

Mystery finds me in darkness
Sun won't shine
Blistering pain from a passed life
Cross that line
(CHORUS)
Into the moonlight I ride
One-way trip, to the other side
Into the moonlight I ride
Losing my grip, I cannot hide
Standing on top of a mountain
Long way down
Hearing the voice of a madman
Hit the ground
(CHORUS)
Into the moonlight I ride
One-way trip to the other side
Into the moonlight I ride
Losing my grip, I cannot hide
Into the casket I go
Debt has been paid seeds have been sown
End of the line all that I know
Into Inferno I crawl
Licking the flames, tasting my fall
Melting away sirens that call
(CHORUS)
Into the moonlight I ride
One-way trip to the other side
Into the moonlight I ride
Losing my grip, I cannot hide
Dreaming about my passed life
Into the moonlight I ride
One-way trip to the other side
Into the moonlight I ride
Losing my grip, I cannot hide
Oh I can't hide
From my passed life
Oh I can't hide
