It was a pleasantly warm September afternoon in London circa 1969 when I dropped in at the Apple Corps offices on Savile Row — not knowing that music history was about to unfold.
I'd come in to confirm an interview with George Harrison that had been scheduled after the weekend
to discuss the about-to-be-released Abbey Road album. But hearing me chatting in the corridor outside the Bag One offices — I had interviewed him earlier that year in Canada — John Lennon called me in for "some advice." Can you imagine? The honor of being asked by a sage such as John for any kind of advice . . .
Turned out that a Toronto promoter named John Brower was on the phone trying to convince John and Yoko they should attend a September 13 musical event in Canada featuring a host of '50s rock 'n' roll legends. Maybe, suggested the ever-keen and eager Brower, John might even consider a performance piece? I knew Brower and his partner, and I instinctively felt they would try to do right by an inquisitive and frustrated John . . .
Two days later, the Lennons had gathered at Heathrow Airport with guitarist Eric Clapton, Klaus
Voormann (bass player with Manfred Mann), Alan White (drummer working with Alan Price), Beatles
manager Allen Klein and roadie Mal Evans for the flight to Toronto and a show later that evening.
Only three first-class tickets were available, so the newly formed Plastic Ono Band gathered in the
rear of the 707 jet, vamping their acoustic way through a cluster of classic rock 'n' roll favorites.
Songs that the principal players worshipped.
Perhaps this in-flight camaraderie inspired the bout of intense honesty that unfolded en route to the
Toronto Rock 'N' Roll Revival concert. Later it came out that John had informed both Eric Clapton
and Klaus Voormann that he was thinking about starting a new group. It seems he went as far as to
enquire about their interest in joining him in this new enterprise . . .
At Varsity Stadium the jet-lagged John was extremely nervous. He hadn't been onstage in three years, and he admitted to throwing up from nervousness before the show — with abundant reason. "Imagine if you were in The Beatles from the beginning, and you were never in any other band?" he postulated. "Then all of a sudden you're going onstage with this group who've never played live together, anywhere. We formed on the plane coming over here, and now we're gonna play in front of 20,000 people."
A quick backstage rehearsal, and guest emcee Kim Fowley urged the audience to fire up their lighters and matches — and in the process light their communal fire, the early uprising of a collective
consciousness — to welcome onstage the Plastic Ono Band, in their debut performance.
"It was just getting dark, and the lights were just going down. This was the first time I'd ever seen an
audience light candles or lights all together . . . it was incredible!" John would comment.
What a night it was! All faithfully and creatively recorded on camera by award-winning filmmaker
D.A. Pennebaker, to follow his Monterey Pop and Don't Look Back triumphs. The audio would be
released in December of that year as the Plastic Ono Band's Live Peace In Toronto LP.
John bounced out onstage, bedecked in a white tropical suit overpinning a black shirt, and was
bedeviling with his new band. The Toronto audience was equally uplifted. After whipping through a
number of rock 'n' roll chestnuts, John plunged into "Yer Blues" from the White Album. And then, to
take proceedings to another level, he unleashed the debut of a new single that would be released five weeks hence, the hard-edged classic "Cold Turkey."
This was followed by a centerpiece selection that John graphically set up as: "This is what we really
came here for . . . Ev'rybody's talkin' 'bout Bagism . . . " They plunged into the tune that he and
Yoko — and assorted luminaries — had recorded at the historic Bed-In for Peace in a Montreal hotel
room some four months earlier, the paean to nonviolence: "Give Peace A Chance." And Yoko added
to the street-theatre vibe by performing two tunes in a bag!
Back in London after the momentous weekend in Canada, John was exuberant about the experience of being onstage again.
"I can't remember when I had such a good time," he enthused. "We did all the old things from the
Cavern days in Liverpool. Yoko, who you could say was playing 'bag,' was holding a piece of paper
with the words to the songs in front of me. But then she suddenly disappeared into her bag in the
middle of the performance, and I had to make [the words] up because it's so long since I sang them
that I've forgotten most of them. But it didn't seem to matter.''
History has shown it was this concert that finally convinced John there was indeed life beyond
The Beatles.

Series looking at the creation of classic albums documents the making of John Lennon's 1970 first post-Beatles solo album. Regarded as a classic, it is a fierce, raw, emotionally painful yet beautiful album. It contains some of the most personal and cathartic songs John ever wrote including Mother, Love, Working Class Hero , Isolation and God.
Drawing from his painful and difficult early life, the songs address the basic issues of death, isolation, anger, religion, class, fear and love. Most of them were written while John and Yoko were undergoing primal therapy with Dr Arthur Janov at his centre in California to deal with the root causes of their pain and neuroses.

I cannot stop listening this wonderful sonng.
Thanks to YOUTUBE,I'm able to watch all this beautiful videos.
"Imagine" is a utopian song performed by John Lennon, which appears on his 1971 album Imagine. Although originally credited solely to Lennon, in recent years Yoko Ono's contribution to the song has become more widely acknowledged. In 2003, Rolling Stone magazine voted "Imagine" the third greatest song of all time.
In the book Lennon in America, written by Geoffrey Giuliano, Lennon commented the song was "an anti-religious, anti-nationalistic, anti-conventional, anti-capitalistic song, but because it's sugar-coated, it's accepted."
The lyrics were thought to be inspired solely by Lennon's hopes for a more peaceful world. In reality, the song's refrain was coined by Yoko Ono, in reaction to her childhood in Japan during World War II. According to The Sunday Times, the song's refrain can be found in several of her poems written in the early 1960s, before she met Lennon, and in her 1965 book Grapefruit.
Lennon's claims against property and religion, as well as his repeated use of "the people," have led some to posit the song as being advocative of humanism, communism, and anarchism.

Sir James Paul McCartney, MBE (born 18 June 1942) is an English musician, singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and composer. With John Lennon, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr, he gained worldwide fame as a member of the Beatles, widely regarded as one of the most popular and influential acts in the history of rock music; his songwriting partnership with Lennon is one of the most celebrated of the 20th century. After the band's break-up, he pursued a solo career and later formed Wings with his first wife, Linda, and Denny Laine.
In 1979, Guinness World Records described McCartney as the "most successful composer and recording artist of all time", with 60 gold discs and sales of over 100 million albums and 100 million singles, and as the "most successful songwriter" in United Kingdom chart history. More than 2,200 artists have covered his Beatles song "Yesterday", more than any other copyrighted song in history. Wings' 1977 release "Mull of Kintyre" is one of the all-time best-selling singles in the UK. Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a solo artist in March 1999, McCartney has written, or co-written 31 songs that have reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100, and as of 2014 he has sold more than 15.5 million RIAA-certified units in the United States. McCartney, Lennon, Harrison and Starr received MBEs in 1965, and in 1997, McCartney was knighted for his services to music.
McCartney has released an extensive catalogue of songs as a solo artist and has composed classical and electronic music. He has taken part in projects to promote international charities related to such subjects as animal rights, seal hunting, landmines, vegetarianism, poverty, and music education. He has married three times and is the parent of five children.
album by Paul McCartney consisting of material performed over three nights as the inaugural concert at New York City's Citi Field, 17, 18 and 21 July 2009, part of his Summer Live '09 concert tour. Over 180,000 tickets were sold within hours of the shows being announced. The album is McCartney's third release for Hear Music, following 2007 album Memory Almost Full and the live EP Amoeba's Secret. Previous McCartney live albums such as Back in the US proved to be huge sellers based on his record breaking live shows from the 2000s.
At the 53rd Grammy Awards, the recording of "Helter Skelter" from the album won in the category of Best Solo Rock Vocal Performance

I was dreaming of the past
And my heart was beating fast
I began to lose control
I began to lose control
I didn't mean to hurt you
I'm sorry that I made you cry
Oh no, I didn't want to hurt you
I'm just a jealous guy
I was feeling insecure
You might not love me anymore
I was shivering inside
I was shivering inside
I didn't mean to hurt you
I'm sorry that I made you cry
Oh no, I didn't want to hurt you

Wanna die
If I ain't dead already
Ooh! Girl you know the reason why

My mother was up the sky,
My father was up the earth,
But I am up the universe
And you know what it's worth

I feel so suicidal
Just like Dylan's Mr. Jones

Madison Square Garden 1974 November 28 (Thanksgiving). John Lennon came on stage as special guest at the Elton John concert and they did three songs together. We all know the story ......
When John Lennon was recording his "Walls and Bridges" album in 1974, he invited Elton to help him out on a couple of tracks - "Whatever Gets You Thru the Night" and "Surprise, Surprise (Sweet Bird of Paradox)". This was around the same time they also worked together on Elton's releases "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" and "One Day at a Time". Lennon said of Elton, "I was amazed at his ability. A fine musician, great piano player. I was really pleasantly surprised at the way he could get in on such a loose track and add to it and keep up with the rhythm changes". As Elton and Lennon were enjoying themselves greatly during the recording session, Elton asked Lennon if he would do "Whatever Gets You Thru" with him on stage. Lennon, who no longer performed live, jokingly promised to do so when the song became a #1 hit single. In November that year, it did hit #1, Lennon's only solo single to do so. Elton called him up and reminded him of the promise, and Lennon appeared on stage for three numbers at Elton's concert at Madison Square Garden, New York City in 1974. Lennon was terrified, and nearly backed out several times. Finally, as Elton introduced him, he suddenly turned to Bernie Taupin back stage, and said, "I'm not going on unless you go with me". Bernie walked him out to the stage, gave him a light push, and said, "You're on your own". When he came on stage, the audience of 18,000 rose to their feet and applauded for several minutes before they were able to perform the three songs, the final one being the old Beatles' hit "I Saw Her Standing There", which was a song Paul McCartney (not John Lennon!) had sung. It was the first time Lennon sang the song! Elton has said many times that this whole event was one of the high points of his career.

“When you talk about destruction, don’t you know that you can count me out"
“I did the slow version and I wanted it out as a single: as a statement of The Beatles’ position on Vietnam and The Beatles’ position on revolution. For years, on The Beatles’ tours, Brian Epstein had stopped us from saying anything about Vietnam or the war.” - John Lennon.
“Plugging directly into the Abbey Road desk and pushing the needles into the red achieved the fuzz-guitar sound. According to George Martin “We got into distortion on that, which we had a lot of complaints from the technical people about. But that was the idea: it was John’s song and the idea was to push it right to the limit. Well, we went to the limit and beyond.”
“Revolution" was directed by Michael Lindsay-Hogg, and filmed on the 4th September 1968 at Twickenham Film Studios.

A relação Lennon-FBI é o tema do programa "Revelações" de hoje no The History Channel.
Em 1981, um ano após o assassinato de Lennon, em Nova York, o professor Jonathan M. Wiener, da Universidade da Califórnia, entrou na Justiça norte-americana para tentar ter acesso a esses arquivos. Em 1984, ele lançou o livro "Come Together: John Lennon in His Time" (inédito no Brasil), em que comentava o assunto.

↓ Read the MESSAGE FROM YOKO ONO ↓
Dear Friends,
In 1969, John and I were so naïve to think that doing the Bed-In would help change the world.
Well, it might have. But at the time, we didn't know.
It was good that we filmed it, though.
The film is powerful now.
What we said then could have been said now.
In fact, there are things that we said then in the film, which may give some encouragement and inspiration to the activists of today. Good luck to us all.
Let's remember WAR IS OVER If We Want It.
It's up to us, and nobody else.
John would have wanted to say that.
Love, yoko

ABOUT BED PEACE
1969 was the year that John & Yoko intensified their long running campaign for World Peace. They approached the task with the same entrepreneurial expertise as an advertising agency selling a brand of soap powder to the masses. John & Yoko's product however was PEACE, not soft soap, and they were determined to use any slogan, event and gimmick in order to persuade the World to buy it.
BED PEACE (directed by Yoko & John and filmed by Nic Knowland) is a document of the Montreal events from 26-31 March 2013, and features John & Yoko in conversation with, amongst others, The World Press, satirist Al Capp, activist Dick Gregory, comedian Tommy Smothers, protesters at Berkeley's People's Park, Rabbi Abraham L. Feinberg, quiltmaker Christine Kemp, psychologists Timothy Leary & Rosemary Leary, CFOX DJs Charles P. Rodney Chandler & Roger Scott, producer André Perry, journalist Ritchie York, DJ & Promoter Murray The K, filmmaker Jonas Mekas, publicist Derek Taylor & personal assistant Anthony Fawcett.
Featured songs are Plastic Ono Band's GIVE PEACE A CHANCE & INSTANT KARMA, Yoko's REMEMBER LOVE & WHO HAS SEEN THE WIND & John's acoustic version of BECAUSE.

The black and white 16mm spans an interview from the 1966 Beatles US Tour, Lennon's 1969 trip to India with Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, and the famous bed-in that he and Yoko Ono held on their honeymoon in Amsterdam in 1969.

John Lennon - "The Rolling Stone Interview" - December 8, 1970, Part 1
Part 1 of Rolling Stone Magazine founding editor and publisher, Jann S. Wenner's infamous interview with John Lennon and Yoko Ono. The interview was conducted at Allen Klein's office at 1700 Broadway in New York City on December 8, 1970.
Wenner caught the couple at a time when the breakup of The Beatles was still fresh and acrimonious, Plastic Ono Band was first released, and John and Yoko's emotions had been laid bare through intense primal scream therapy. The lengthy interview was published in Wenner's Rolling Stone Magazine in two installments in early 1971 (January 21 and February 4, 1971 editions). Lennon later repudiated some of his more venomous statements in this interview and always decried the fact that Wenner published it in book form under the title "Lennon Remembers."
Oddly, the book was republished, with Yoko's assistance, upon the 20th anniversary of Lennon's death at about the same time that the Anthology book was released. It included elements that had been excised in the first edition. Lennon Remembers and Anthology present two startling different characterizations and recollections of the Beatle years.

Rock Band 4 is a 2015 music video game developed by Harmonix. Rock Band 4 allows players to simulate the playing of music across many different decades and genres using instrument controllers that mimic playing lead and bass guitar, drums, and vocals. As the fourth main installment in the Rock Band franchise, it was released for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on October 6, 2015. Mad Catz, who also developed new instrument controllers for the game, marketed and distributed the title worldwide.[1] The game shipped with more than sixty licensed songs; additional songs are available as downloadable content, which includes a library of over 2000 existing songs from prior installments.
Rock Band 4 represented Harmonix's return to the franchise after an almost three-year hiatus, following the diminishing popularity of the rhythm game market that started in 2009. Announced on March 5, 2015, Rock Band 4 refocuses on the core gameplay of the franchise, reducing the emphasis on musical instruction that was employed by its predecessor, Rock Band 3, while emphasizing the game's social interactions, as well as new features enabling players to incorporate improvisation into their performance—such as "freestyle solos" on guitar, and "freeform melodies" on multi-part vocals.
Rock Band 4 offers backwards compatibility with content and hardware from previous versions of Rock Band within the same console family; wireless guitar and drum controllers from PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of Rock Band can be used on the PS4 and Xbox One versions (with PS4 using an existing USB dongle, and Xbox One requiring a newly-produced USB dongle), and DLC songs purchased on prior installments on PS3 and Xbox 360 can be re-downloaded at no extra charge on PS4 and Xbox One in a portedform that supports the game's features. Harmonix plans to release free and paid DLC that will add new features and content to the game over time, in lieu of releasing yearly installments.[2]
Critical reception to Rock Band 4 on-launch was positive, with reviews praising the game for not significantly deviating from the gameplay mechanics of prior installments, as well as the higher degree of creative freedom offered by the Freestyle Solos feature, and its backwards compatibility with previously-released content for the Rock Band franchise. The soundtrack of Rock Band 4 was characterized as being weaker than that of previous installments due to its use of lesser-known songs and artists, while the game was also panned for removing features present in previous versions, such as online multiplayer and practice modes.

wn.com/An Analysis Of The Smashing Pumpkins' Machina
Inside MACHINA, the Smashing Pumpkins' mad, misunderstood masterpiece. Dismissed in 2000 as the work of an egomaniac, the project instead shows Billy Corgan fearlessly deconstructing his ego and belief mechanisms, and coming to some scary conclusions.
0:41 - introduction
2:35 - context: Ziggy Stardust, Plastic Ono Band, and the end times
Pt. I: Shattering Glass
10:43 - a cracking identity ("Glass' Theme")
14:04 - seeking the depths ("Glass and the Ghost Children")
22:26 - no self left
24:34 - God as white spyder
Pt. II: Revealing Corgan
26:41 - narcissism's origins in child abuse
33:09 - the narcissist as vampyre or machine
35:41 - resuming the pose ("I of the Mourning")
39:58 - confronting illusion in relationships ("Try, Try, Try;" "Let Me Give the World to You")
45:03 - a mobius strip of isolation ("Blue Skies Bring Tears")
Pt. III: The Metaphysics of MACHINA
48:34 - life is but a Siamese dream ("Innosense;" "The Everlasting Gaze")
58:18 - no more the simple man ("If There Is a God;" "Age of Innocence")
59:33 - hope
Discussed: C.G. Jung, The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars, John Lennon/Plasic Ono Band, primal therapy, "Spiritual Enlightenment" by Leo Gura, Ingmar Bergman's Through a Glass Darkly, "The Poetics of Space" by Gaston Bachelard, "Malignant Self-Love: Narcissism Revisited" by Sam Vaknin, "Disarming the Narcissist" by Wendy Behary, "The Wisdom of Insecurity" by Alan Watts

Warning: I'm Scottish!
Yep just what the internet needs more idiots unboxing stuff. Join me as we crack open the John Lennon Signature Box. Cram packed full of Lennon's post-Beatles albums. From Plastic Ono Band to Milk and Honey all housed in a rather handsome (if stupidly large) box with some extra wee bits and bobs. Have a watch and see what we uncover.

John Leckie sums up his career. In Part 1 from starting as a tape op at Abbey Road Studios in 1971, working with George Harrison on Allt hints must pass, Plastic Ono Band, Pink Floyd, Bebop Deluxe and Xtc (Parts 2 and 3 move further in his career.) He had to leave EMI and Abbey Road for Virgin and Richard Branson, because at EMI studios you weren't allowed to work for competitors. So he went on to produce Virgin bands Simple Minds and XTC.

John Lennon - "The Rolling Stone Interview" - December 8, 1970, Part 2
Part 2 of Rolling Stone Magazine founding editor and publisher, Jann S.
