Oakmont is a borough in Allegheny County in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania. It is a Pittsburgh suburb and part of the Pittsburgh Metro Area. The population was 6,426 in 2014.
Incorporated as a town in 1889, this Allegheny River community began in 1816 when a farmer, Michael Bright, bought a large tract of land 15 miles (24 km) northeast of Pittsburgh. The settlement took its name from a landmark tree, as the deed description reads, "Beginning at a black oak on the bank of the Allegheny River ..." The borough is best known for the nearby Oakmont Country Club, a premier golf course which has been the site of numerous U.S. Open golf tournaments, including the 2016 U.S. Open.
Oakmont is located at 40°31′10″N 79°50′15″W / 40.51944°N 79.83750°W / 40.51944; -79.83750 (40.519518, -79.837620).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of 1.8 square miles (4.7 km2), of which 1.6 square miles (4.1 km2) is land and 0.2 square miles (0.52 km2), or 8.99%, is water. The business district of town is on relatively flat land near the Allegheny River, but the main residential area is on the upward slope headed toward Oakmont Country Club and the Pennsylvania Turnpike.

The Open Championship, or simply The Open (often referred to as the British Open), is the oldest of the four major championships in professional golf. Held in the United Kingdom, it is administered by The R&A and is the only major outside the United States. The Open is currently the third major of the calendar year, following The Masters and the U.S. Open, and preceding the PGA Championship.
The current champion is Zach Johnson, who won the 144th Open at the Old Course at St. Andrews in 2015. Johnson defeated Marc Leishman and Louis Oosthuizen in a 4-hole playoff on Monday, 20 July 2015.
The Open was first played on 17 October 1860 at Prestwick Golf Club in Scotland. The inaugural tournament was restricted to professionals and attracted a field of eight golfers who played three rounds of Prestwick's twelve-hole course in a single day. Willie Park, Sr. won with a score of 174, beating Old Tom Morris, by two strokes. The following year the tournament was opened to amateurs; eight of them joined ten professionals in the field.

Just checking out the scene at the bakery. I'm not big on desserts, but family came up this weekend for my birthday and mother's day and wanted to check out the bakery. Apparently it's the third best bakery in the entire United States. It did give me an opportunity to test out the video feature of my Canon Rebel T4I
Western Massachusetts tourism officials are doing some traveling of their own on Tuesday, as they venture out to Pennsylvania to draw attention to our local attractions.
Time lapse video of my 16+ hour drive from Whitehall, Pennsylvania to Belleview, Florida. Unfortunately the last bit of the drive got cut off but the vast majority is here. Recorded using the LapseIt Pro app using my Samsung Galaxy Note, rendered using Virtual Dub. Music is an excerpt from Appalachian Spring which seemed appropriate. Thank you for watching! :)

PITTSBURGH PA Numerous drivers found themselves in a sticky situation Tuesday night when a tar-like substance leaked on the Pennsylvania Turnpike, damaging countless vehicles and snarling traffic for a nearly 40-mile stretch. Pennsylvania Turnpike spokesman Bill Capone said a tanker carrying driveway sealant began leaking around New Castle and continued to spill the fluid for 39 miles until it exited the turnpike at the Oakmont Plum service plaza. Capone said the driver did not realize the truck was leaking until he got out at the plaza. State police at the Gibsonia station are still investigating and do not know if any charges will be filed. Traffic was obstructed in the eastbound lanes of the turnpike between the New Castle and Allegheny Valley exits (mileposts 10.7-47.7), acco...
http://PetesRV.com RV Lifestyle Consultant Randy Murray gives a nice demonstration on how to open and adjust both a power and manual awning system. Although power awnings are as easy as the touch of a button to open and close, owners still need to make sure it is properly extended with enough clearance from door tops and branches, and the awning is pitched correctly to minimize wear and tear. Randy demonstrates this segment with a Keystone Springdale 293RKS travel trailer. There's a little more skill involved when opening a manual awning, but Randy provides step-by-step instruction on everything from releasing the travel locks to adjusting the valances. Randy demonstrates this segment with a Keystone Vantage 32QBS travel trailer. A key tip for both types of awning systems is to ...
