John Winston Ono Lennon, MBE (born John Winston Lennon; 9 October 1940 – 8 December 1980) was an English singer and songwriter who rose to worldwide fame as a co-founder of the band the Beatles, the most commercially successful band in the history of popular music. With fellow member Paul McCartney, he formed a celebrated songwriting partnership.
Born and raised in Liverpool, Lennon became involved in the skiffle craze as a teenager; his first band, the Quarrymen, evolved into the Beatles in 1960. When the group disbanded in 1970, Lennon embarked on a solo career that produced the critically acclaimed albums John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band and Imagine, and iconic songs such as "Give Peace a Chance", "Working Class Hero", and "Imagine". After his marriage to Yoko Ono in 1969, he changed his name to John Ono Lennon. Lennon disengaged himself from the music business in 1975 to raise his infant son Sean, but re-emerged with Ono in 1980 with the new album Double Fantasy. He was murdered three weeks after its release.
"Life Begins at 40" is a song by John Lennon. It was written in 1980, the year that both Lennon and Ringo Starr turned 40 years of age. Lennon recorded a demo of the song at his home, but it was not recorded at any of the sessions for his comeback album, Double Fantasy. Instead, he intended to give the song to Starr to record on his own forthcoming album, Can't Fight Lightning. The song's amiable country feel was well suited to Starr's singing style. After Lennon's murder in December 1980, those plans were shelved. However, Lennon's demo was eventually issued in 1998 on the John Lennon Anthology box set.

American Top 40 (commonly abbreviated to AT40) is an internationally syndicated, independent song countdown radio program created by Casey Kasem, Don Bustany, Tom Rounds and Ron Jacobs. The program is hosted by Ryan Seacrest, who took over the program from Kasem upon his 2004 departure. It is currently presented as an adjunct to Seacrest's weekday radio program, On Air with Ryan Seacrest.
Originally a production of Watermark Inc. (later a division of ABC Radio, now Cumulus Media Networks), AT40 is now distributed by Premiere Networks in the United States, Canada, Australia, the Philippines, Singapore, China, India, the United Kingdom, Malaysia and several other territories worldwide. It can also be heard on both the iHeartRadio application and the AT40 Mobile application on mobile smartphones and tablets as well as on Xbox 360 and Xbox One consoles.
Co-creator Casey Kasem hosted the original AT40 from its inauguration on July 4, 1970 until August 6, 1988 and returned to host the revived version from March 28, 1998 to January 3, 2004 (for much of the interim, he hosted the competing Casey's Top 40). AT40's other two regular hosts have been Shadoe Stevens, who replaced Kasem on the original AT40 and hosted until its 1995 cancellation, and the aforementioned Ryan Seacrest. Currently, AT40 with Seacrest airs in two different formats, with one distributed to Contemporary Hit Radio (Top 40) stations and the other to Adult Contemporary (formerly Hot Adult Contemporary) stations (which were previously served by two different Kasem-hosted shows; see below). There is no differentiation between the Top 40 and AC versions of AT40 made on air. Kasem is still heard in two weekly replays of vintage shows from the '70s and '80s, respectively.

[Lyrics John Lennon - Life Begins at 40] They say life begins at 40 Age is just a state of mind If all that's true You know that I've been dead for 39 And if life begins at 40 Well, I hope it ain't the same It's been tough enough without that stuff I don't wanna to be born again Well, I tried to sweep the slate clean With a new broom every day If that don't work I'll jerk around until my next birthday Yeah, life begins at 40 Age is just a state of mind Well, if all that's true You know that I've been dead for 39

Life begins at forty In 1979, JL wrote some songs or part of them, solo, with guitar, recording them on a cassette. As we know, these works weren't included in any record. In the case of Life Begins at 40, a beautiful country-western song, John had only composed a pair of stanzas as the central idea for its structure. Thirty two years later, Estefy Lennon, in Buenos Aires, has chosen this song to respectfully dare to record it as she thinks Lennon would have done it alive... Together with the Vasco Urionagüena, we feel John would have composed a bridge, a stanza and even added a solo to give the song a definite structure. So, we have taken the humble task to add these parts and we are happy of the result. Credits Lyrics and music: Adaptation: Lyrics: Estefy Lennon y Vasco Urionagüe...

Lennon Remembered' was a half-hour television tribute to John Lennon, produced by CNN and broadcast on Superstation TBS in 1981 on the first anniversary of his murder. The documentary was produced, written and directed by David Guilbault. (Digitized from an old VHS copy). ----- On December 8th in 1980, when John Lennon was murdered, I was producing a two-hour live show on CNN, called "Take Two". We, of course, devoted the entire program that day to the news of his killing, his life and his music. A year later, for the anniversary of his death, I was tasked to produce a half-hour tribute that aired on WTBS. My budget was zero, so I literally had to beg or borrow every piece of footage I could get my hands on and put the show together quickly. Still, it was a labor of love. With what ...

This video was produced and submitted to Dr. Leonard Horowitz by "Lunartunar" a music researcher who determined that certain recordings of John Lennon and Paul McCartnery were performed in 528Hz frequency, the third note of the ancient Solfeggio musical scale associated with Gregorian chants and healing practices. According to Dr. Horowitz's research, published on the Internet and in The Book of 528: Prosperity Key of LOVE, the 528Hz frequency is associated with the "center of the musical-mathematical matrix of creation" as "pure tone LOVE." This video had been previously posted on the Internet, and was removed for unknown reasons. Then a most bizarre thing happened, some of the recordings of Lennon on YouTube were ...

Arkells sing “I ain’t going to fear the New Year, no,no…” and this year, they are putting that mandate into motion. Formed in 2006 in Hamilton, ON, the band recorded and released their debut EP “Deadlines” in 2007. The six songs bring the listener rock as it should be; catchy, raw and unbridled. Arkells have succeeded in blending traditional blues hooks mixed with rock heavy riffs, and a hint of soul on the side. From the strum of the first chord, the music ignites into a fury of addictive and muscular cadence, taking hold of the listener in all the right ways. The five piece band is made up of Tim Oxford on drums, Dan Griffin on keys, Mike DeAngelis on guitar, Nick Dika on bass and Max Kerman on guitar and vocals (though all members layer their voices on most songs). Nearly 5 Years ago I visited Paris for two days and made this film. It is a very special place and I could see and sense the challenges it faced but equally admired the diversity of it's population and freedom it allowed it’s’ people to express. It's a very sad day for all of us as this very freedom has been attacked in such a callous way by just a few people. We must not let them win and so we must all stand together to never let this happen ever again. ----------- I thought I'd relax and catch a weekend in Paris with my family, just a few photos and videos for the album. When I got there I just couldn't resist. I found myself live on national TV as a roller blader 'Taig Khris' jumped off the Eiffel Tower in midst of thousands of people, chased by a gangster as he and his friends played ...

"The Day John Lennon Died" (documentary 2010) is a look at Lennon and his death through archival footage and interviews. Someone once said to me when politicians are assassinated it's one thing, but "when they start killing the artists," it's a bad sign. John Lennon's loss was certainly devastating, and I'm not sure it could have been avoided. Perhaps it might have been delayed, though. He was a man who loved New York, loved walking down the street. He didn't have bodyguards, and he signed autographs outside of the Dakota. Part of the problem is that the security people at the Dakota apparently let people "hang out" there -- a mistake -- and another is that Lennon didn't always enter or leave the Dakota by driving directly in or out of the garage. So as the completely obsessed Mark Davi...

On the occasion of his 75th birthday, we dug up some rare John Lennon archival footage. The black and white 16mm spans an interview from the 1966 Beatles US Tour, Lennon's 1969 trip to India with Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, and the famous bed-in that he and Yoko Ono held on their honeymoon in Amsterdam in 1969. It was good that we filmed it, though. The film is powerful now. What we said then could have been said now. In fact, there are things that we said then in the film, which may give some encouragement and inspiration to the activists of today. Good luck to us all. Let's remember WAR IS OVER If We Want It. "The Tomorrow Show: John Lennon" Filmed: 25-04-1975 Length: 1 hour 06 minutes 11 seconds iMDB: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0158435/ One of the few TV interviews John Lennon ever granted was to "The Tomorrow Show" with Tom Snyder, of historical signifigance due to Lennon's legendary contribution to the music of this generation. The Tomorrow Show With Tom Snyder was one of the hippest, most-interesting late-night talk shows around, during its 70s and early- 80s run. The Tomorrow Show With Tom Snyder: John, Paul, Tom & Ringo brings together captivating interviews with John Lennon, Paul McCartney, and Ringo Starr.
Claymation of John Lennon's famous interview with Jann Wenner of Rolling Stone in 1970. John talks honestly about the break up of the Beatles.

In 1969, a 14-year-old Beatle fanatic named Jerry Levitan, armed with a reel-to-reel tape deck, snuck into John Lennon’s hotel room in Toronto and convinced John to do an interview. Fastforward to present day and using the original interview recording as the soundtrack, director Josh Raskin has woven a visual narrative which tenderly romances Lennon’s every word. Raskin marries traditional pen sketches by James Braithwaite. James Braithwaite is an illustrator, animator, and director based out of Montreal Canada. James’s first animation, “I Met the Walrus” won best short animation from the American Film Institute, and was nominated for an Academy Award in 2008. The film has since been nominated for an Emmy, and has won two awards at the Banff Television Awards.
