John Winston Ono Lennon, MBE (born John Winston Lennon; 9 October 1940 – 8 December 1980) was an English singer and songwriter who rose to worldwide fame as a co-founder of the band the Beatles, the most commercially successful band in the history of popular music. With fellow member Paul McCartney, he formed a celebrated songwriting partnership.
Born and raised in Liverpool, Lennon became involved in the skiffle craze as a teenager; his first band, the Quarrymen, evolved into the Beatles in 1960. When the group disbanded in 1970, Lennon embarked on a solo career that produced the critically acclaimed albums John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band and Imagine, and iconic songs such as "Give Peace a Chance", "Working Class Hero", and "Imagine". After his marriage to Yoko Ono in 1969, he changed his name to John Ono Lennon. Lennon disengaged himself from the music business in 1975 to raise his infant son Sean, but re-emerged with Ono in 1980 with the new album Double Fantasy. He was murdered three weeks after its release.
John is a common English name and surname:

Double Fantasy is a 1980 album released by John Lennon and Yoko Ono. It is the seventh and final studio album released by Lennon (apart from his work with The Beatles) during his lifetime. Though initially poorly received, the album is notable for its association with Lennon's murder three weeks after its release, whereupon it became a worldwide commercial success, and went on to win the 1981 Album of the Year at the 24th Annual Grammy Awards.
Following the birth of his son Sean in 1975, Lennon had put his career on hold to help raise him. After five years of little musical activity aside from recording the occasional demo in his apartment in New York, Lennon felt ready to resume work.
In the summer of 1980, Lennon made a sailing trip through treacherous waters from Newport, Rhode Island, to Bermuda. During the journey, Lennon's yacht encountered a prolonged severe storm, most of the crew eventually succumbed to profound fatigue and seasickness. Lennon (free of seasickness) was eventually forced to take the yacht's wheel alone for many hours. Lennon found this terrifying but invigorating. It had the effect of both renewing his confidence and making him contemplate the fragility of life. As a result, he began to write new songs and reworked earlier demos. He commented later, 'I was so centered after the experience at sea that I was tuned in to the cosmos – and all these songs came!' Ono also wrote many songs, inspired with new confidence after Lennon had stated that he believed that contemporary popular music such as The B-52's "Rock Lobster" bore similarities to Ono's earlier work.
Yoko Ono (小野 洋子, Ono Yōko, born 18 February 1933) is a Japanese multimedia artist, singer and peace activist who is also known for her work in performance art, music and filmmaking. She is the widow and second wife of singer-songwriter John Lennon.
Ono grew up in Tokyo, and studied at Gakushuin. She withdrew from her course after two years and rejoined her family in New York in 1953. She spent some time at Sarah Lawrence College, and then became involved in New York City's downtown artists scene, including the Fluxus group. She first met Lennon in 1966 at her own art exhibition in London, and they became a couple in 1968. Ono and Lennon famously used their honeymoon at the Hilton Amsterdam as a stage for public protests against the Vietnam War with their performance, Bed-Ins for Peace, in Amsterdam and Montreal in 1969. She brought feminism to the forefront in her music, influencing artists as diverse as the B-52s and Meredith Monk. Ono achieved commercial and critical acclaim in 1980 with the chart-topping album Double Fantasy, released with Lennon three weeks before his death.
The discography of Australian rock music singer, Rick Springfield consists of seventeen studio albums, six compilation albums, two live albums, thirty-four singles and eleven music videos. In 1995, Springfield formed a side-project, Sahara Snow, with Tim Pierce on guitar and Bob Marlette on keyboards and percussion, which released a self-titled studio album in 1997.

Lennon Remembered' was a half-hour television tribute to John Lennon, produced by CNN and broadcast on Superstation TBS in 1981 on the first anniversary of his murder. The documentary was produced, written and directed by David Guilbault. (Digitized from an old VHS copy). ----- On December 8th in 1980, when John Lennon was murdered, I was producing a two-hour live show on CNN, called "Take Two". We, of course, devoted the entire program that day to the news of his killing, his life and his music. A year later, for the anniversary of his death, I was tasked to produce a half-hour tribute that aired on WTBS. My budget was zero, so I literally had to beg or borrow every piece of footage I could get my hands on and put the show together quickly. Still, it was a labor of love. With what ...
NOTICE OF FAIR USAGE for research and public education purposes only. This video was produced and submitted to Dr. Leonard Horowitz by "Lunartunar" a music researcher who determined that certain recordings of John Lennon and Paul McCartnery were performed in 528Hz frequency, the third note of the ancient Solfeggio musical scale associated with Gregorian chants and healing practices. According to Dr. Horowitz's research, published on the Internet and in The Book of 528: Prosperity Key of LOVE, the 528Hz frequency is associated with the "center of the musical-mathematical matrix of creation" as "pure tone LOVE." This video had been previously posted on the Internet, and was removed for unknown reasons. Then a most bizarre thing happened, some of the recordings of Lennon on YouTube were ...

Arkells sing “I ain’t going to fear the New Year, no,no…” and this year, they are putting that mandate into motion. Formed in 2006 in Hamilton, ON, the band recorded and released their debut EP “Deadlines” in 2007. The six songs bring the listener rock as it should be; catchy, raw and unbridled. Arkells have succeeded in blending traditional blues hooks mixed with rock heavy riffs, and a hint of soul on the side. From the strum of the first chord, the music ignites into a fury of addictive and muscular cadence, taking hold of the listener in all the right ways. The five piece band is made up of Tim Oxford on drums, Dan Griffin on keys, Mike DeAngelis on guitar, Nick Dika on bass and Max Kerman on guitar and vocals (though all members layer their voices on most songs). Nearly 5 Years ago I visited Paris for two days and made this film. It is a very special place and I could see and sense the challenges it faced but equally admired the diversity of it's population and freedom it allowed it’s’ people to express. It's a very sad day for all of us as this very freedom has been attacked in such a callous way by just a few people. We must not let them win and so we must all stand together to never let this happen ever again. ----------- I thought I'd relax and catch a weekend in Paris with my family, just a few photos and videos for the album. When I got there I just couldn't resist. I found myself live on national TV as a roller blader 'Taig Khris' jumped off the Eiffel Tower in midst of thousands of people, chased by a gangster as he and his friends played ...

"The Day John Lennon Died" (documentary 2010) is a look at Lennon and his death through archival footage and interviews. Someone once said to me when politicians are assassinated it's one thing, but "when they start killing the artists," it's a bad sign. John Lennon's loss was certainly devastating, and I'm not sure it could have been avoided. Perhaps it might have been delayed, though. He was a man who loved New York, loved walking down the street. He didn't have bodyguards, and he signed autographs outside of the Dakota. Part of the problem is that the security people at the Dakota apparently let people "hang out" there -- a mistake -- and another is that Lennon didn't always enter or leave the Dakota by driving directly in or out of the garage. So as the completely obsessed Mark Davi...

↓ Read the MESSAGE FROM YOKO ONO ↓ Dear Friends, In 1969, John and I were so naïve to think that doing the Bed-In would help change the world. Well, it might have. But at the time, we didn't know. It was good that we filmed it, though. The film is powerful now. What we said then could have been said now. In fact, there are things that we said then in the film, which may give some encouragement and inspiration to the activists of today. Good luck to us all. Let's remember WAR IS OVER If We Want It. It's up to us, and nobody else. John would have wanted to say that. "The Tomorrow Show: John Lennon" Filmed: 25-04-1975 Length: 1 hour 06 minutes 11 seconds iMDB: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0158435/ One of the few TV interviews John Lennon ever granted was to "The Tomorrow Show" with Tom Snyder, of historical signifigance due to Lennon's legendary contribution to the music of this generation. The Tomorrow Show With Tom Snyder was one of the hippest, most-interesting late-night talk shows around, during its 70s and early- 80s run. The Tomorrow Show With Tom Snyder: John, Paul, Tom & Ringo brings together captivating interviews with John Lennon, Paul McCartney, and Ringo Starr.
Claymation of John Lennon's famous interview with Jann Wenner of Rolling Stone in 1970. John talks honestly about the break up of the Beatles.
In 1969, a 14-year-old Beatle fanatic named Jerry Levitan, armed with a reel-to-reel tape deck, snuck into John Lennon’s hotel room in Toronto and convinced John to do an interview. Fastforward to present day and using the original interview recording as the soundtrack, director Josh Raskin has woven a visual narrative which tenderly romances Lennon’s every word. Raskin marries traditional pen sketches by James Braithwaite. James Braithwaite is an illustrator, animator, and director based out of Montreal Canada. James’s first animation, “I Met the Walrus” won best short animation from the American Film Institute, and was nominated for an Academy Award in 2008. The film has since been nominated for an Emmy, and has won two awards at the Banff Television Awards.
