Valley of Death. That is how Cubatão became famous in the early 80’s after being considered the world’s most polluted city according to the UN. Very odd cases of children born with anencephaly and other malformations began to spread. Apparently that was not the case of Akira Shiroma. A shy and observer-type little boy that has found in skateboarding his instrument of creation, freedom and escape.
Valley of Life. The degradation caused by the irresponsible industrialisation at large-scale around Cubatão had deeply impacted on its forests. However, nature always find a way to reinvent itself. Near to death mangroves started breathing again, and they became an unexpected outlying colony to a very special bird: Scarlet Ibis.
This video was put on hold after the crew was robbed while shooting it. All the equipment had been stolen by underage burglars from Perequê’s Waterfall, a natural and spiritual Akira’s refuge.
However, more than a pain in the ass for everyone involved with this production, that robbery represents, both real and metaphorically, the history of pro skateboarder Akira Shiroma.

Ibis
The ibises (collective plural ibis; classical plurals ibides and ibes) are a group of long-legged wading birds in the family Threskiornithidae, that inhabit wetlands, forests and plains. They all have long, down-curved bills, and usually feed as a group, probing mud for food items, usually crustaceans. They are monogamous and highly territorial while nesting and feeding. Most nest in trees, often with spoonbills or herons. All extant species are volant, but two extinct genera were flightless, namely the kiwi-like Apteribis in the Hawaiian Islands, and the peculiar Xenicibis in Jamaica. The word ibis comes from Latin ibis from Greek ἶβις ibis from Egyptian hb, hīb.

Australian white ibis
The Australian white ibis (Threskiornis moluccus) is a wading bird of the ibis family, Threskiornithidae. It is widespread across much of Australia. It has a predominantly white plumage with a bare, black head, long downcurved bill and black legs.
Historically rare in urban areas, the Australian white ibis has immigrated to urban areas of the east coast in increasing numbers since the late 1970s; it is now commonly seen in Wollongong, Sydney, Melbourne, the Gold Coast, Brisbane and Townsville. Debate continues on whether to consider it a pest or vulnerable species. Populations have disappeared from natural breeding areas such as the Macquarie Marshes in north-western New South Wales. Despite this, the species has been culled in parts of Sydney due to their smell and at times intrusive nature. Its sister species is the sacred ibis.
Taxonomy
It was initially described by Georges Cuvier in 1829 as Ibis molucca. It is considered part of a superspecies complex with the sacred ibis (T. aethiopicus) of Africa, and the black-headed ibis (T. melanocephalus) of Asia. Its status in the complex has vacillated over the years. Many older guidebooks referred to the bird as a species T. molucca, until a comprehensive review of plumage patterns by Holyoak in 1970. Holyoak noted the three species' similarities and that the Australian taxon resembled T. aethiopicus in adult plumage and T. melanocephalus in juvenile plumage. He proposed they all be considered part of a single species T. aethiopicus. This was generally accepted by the scientific community until Lowe and Richards's assessment of plumage in 1991. They again recommended the recognition of molucca at species level. This was followed by chromosome study which highlighted each of the three species having a different karyotype. The Australian white ibis has been considered a full species by most authorities since then.

Australian White
Australian White is a large, white breed of Australian meat sheep which was developed for Australian conditions. The Australian White sheep are a stabilised composite haired meat breed comprising White Dorper, Van Rooy, Poll Dorset and Texel genetics.
History
Work commenced on a breeding program by the Highveld White Dorper and Van Rooy sheep stud and the Tattykeel stud. Their aim was to produce a unique Australian white, shedding sheep breed to quickly produce large framed, heavy lamb carcases.
Additionally, walking or mobility ability, good fertility and mothering instincts in the ewes and hardy lambs with good growth weights were required traits to be incorporated into the breed.
In 2011 the Australian White sheep breed was shown at the Sydney Royal Easter Show for the first time.

Valley of Death. That is how Cubatão became famous in the early 80’s after being considered the world’s most polluted city according to the UN. Very odd cases of children born with anencephaly and other malformations began to spread. Apparently that was not the case of Akira Shiroma. A shy and observer-type little boy that has found in skateboarding his instrument of creation, freedom and escape.
Valley of Life. The degradation caused by the irresponsible industrialisation at large-scale around Cubatão had deeply impacted on its forests. However, nature always find a way to reinvent itself. Near to death mangroves started breathing again, and they became an unexpected outlying colony to a very special bird: Scarlet Ibis.
This video was put on hold after the crew was robbed while shooting it. All the equipment had been stolen by underage burglars from Perequê’s Waterfall, a natural and spiritual Akira’s refuge.
However, more than a pain in the ass for everyone involved with this production, that robbery represents, both real and metaphorically, the history of pro skateboarder Akira Shiroma.

When William Saroyan described the bicycle as the noblest invention of humankind, I doubt he imagined the souped up carbon hotness we use to blast around the woods with a primary goal of increasing the serotonin and dopamine levels in our brains.
Ibis Cycles (www.IbisCycles.com) is releasing the Mojo HDR and they take a pretty big step in maintaining the Mojo as the most versatile mountain bike in the world. (*In my humble opinion.)
I don't know the actual angles and numbers on the bike- Ibis will tell you today- but it is hands down the most versatile, wickedly fun, and fast bike I've been on. The level of engineering on this frame begs for components that match, and I went with what I describe as a strong & sexy build. My Mojo HDR came set up for 650b (27.5") wheels and I'm rolling on the simply beautiful ENVE composites AM wheelset. Quite choice.
The Mojo HDR 650b is a cold blooded KOM killer. You'll make your friends quit Strava.
