What We Do

UNDP is fully engaged in supporting Malaysia’s national priorities and the implementation of national medium and long-term development plans such as the 11th Malaysia Plan and other sectoral development policies and strategies. Through local community based initiatives, we have piloted new and innovative development methodologies that can be adopted and scaled up throughout the country. Today, all of UNDP projects in Malaysia are nationally executed, involving more than ten federal ministries and agencies and located in more than 6 states.

Projects and Initiatives

  • Enhancing effectiveness and financial sustainability of Protected Areas in Malaysia

    The flora of Malaysia is exceedingly rich and is conservatively estimated to contain about 12,500 species of flowering plants, approximately 306 species of mammals, more than 742 species of birds, and 547species of reptiles, including a large number of endemics. In order to safeguard the globally significant biodiversity, Malaysia has established networks of protected areas (PAs).more 

  • Improving Connectivity in the Central Forest Spine (CFS) Landscape - IC-CFS

    Malaysia has been designated as a mega-diverse country. The Central Forest Spine (CFS) of Peninsular Malaysia, composed of four main forest complexes, is an important natural landscape of Malaysia, supplying 90% of the population’s water supply and harbouring the remaining population of Malayan tigers in its forests.more
