What's up everybody! Check out this quick video review of the Canon FD 50mm f1.4 Adapted to the Sony A6000. I purchased this lens from my local thrift store and got a fantastic deal! The lens came bundled in a camera bag with a third party FD mount 28mm f2.8 lens and a Canon T50 film camera. I was so excited when I saw the bag listed for only $20 dollars! Before finding the lot I'd seen the 50/f1.4 selling for much more online, so I jumped on the opportunity, and I'm so glad that I did:). This is a very popular lens, but let me go over a few details: The lens was made in Japan, it's very solidly built, and is constructed of metal and hard plastic. It's stylized very similar to other FD bayonet lenses, with a green and white color way. It weighs in at 8 ounces and sits 1.75 inches tall. Focusing is smooth and will take you a half turn to go from infinity to a minimum focusing distinct of 1.5 feet. The aperture starts at f22 and opens up to a bright f1.4. Eight aperture blades produce some beautiful round bokeh, making this lens a nice portrait lens option. I'm adapting the lens using a K&F; Concept Adapter I bought from Amazon for about $15 (see link below). The adapter is the magical piece of metal that allows us to use these old lenses on our new cameras. In this case I'm using an adapter that converts the Canon FD Mount to the Sony NEX/E-Mount, it's labeled (FD-NEX). The FD mount is a little tricky in that it requires you to throw an extra open/close switch on the adapter before you can adjust the aperture. In this video we'll take a closer look at the lens design, show how to operate the focus and aperture rings, adapt the lens, and run out and get some sample photos and videos.
There are so many reason to like these old lenses. Not only does it make your camera look super cool, but adapting these lenses can be an excellent way to acquire quality glass at a bargain price:)

Canon FD lens mount
The Canon FD lens mount is a physical standard for connecting a photographic lens to a 35mm single-lens reflex camera body. The standard was developed by Canon of Japan and was introduced in March 1971 with the Canon F-1 camera. It served as the Canon SLR interchangeable lens mounting system until the 1987 introduction of the Canon EOS series cameras, which use the newer EF lens mount. The FD mount lingered through the release of the 1990 Canon T60, the last camera introduced in the FD system, and the end of the Canon New F-1 product cycle in 1992.
The FD mount was based upon and replaced Canon's earlier FL mount (which in turn had replaced the R mount); FD-mount cameras can use FL lenses in stop-down metering mode. Though never officially explained by Canon, others have attempted to assign a meaning to the "FD" designation. One such attempt states that the "FD" notation stands for "Focal-plane shutter with Dual linkage for diaphragm control"; in actuality, there were two linkages and two signals: the automatic aperture lever, aperture signal lever, full aperture signal pin, and automatic exposure lock pin. This is twice the previous lens series, which used the "FL" designation, said to mean "Focal-plane shutter, Linked mount."

Sony A6000
The Sony A6000 (stylized "Sony α6000", model ILCE-6000) is a digital camera announced February 12, 2014. It is a mirrorless interchangeable lens camera or MILC, and this has a smaller body form factor than a traditional DSLR, whilst retaining the sensor size and features of an APS-C-sized model. It is targeted at experienced users, enthusiasts and professionals. It replaces the NEX-6 and NEX-7. Review websites note that although the A6000 uses a 24MP sensor like the Sony NEX-7, the Sony Alpha A6000 can also be seen as more of a replacement of the Sony NEX-6.
As other cameras the Sony A6000 is advertised featuring the "world's fastest autofocus" with lag of 0.06 second and 11 fps continuous shooting with tracking AF, but now lags for example behind the latest Nikon 1 series J4 with 0.01 second delay and 20 fps continuous shooting with tracking AF, albeit with a much smaller and lower-quality sensor. Its MSRP is $700 with a 16-50mm power-zoom kit lens f/3.5-5.6.

What's up everybody! Check out this quick video review of the Canon FD 50mm f1.4 Adapted to the Sony A6000. I purchased this lens from my local thrift store and got a fantastic deal! The lens came bundled in a camera bag with a third party FD mount 28mm f2.8 lens and a Canon T50 film camera. I was so excited when I saw the bag listed for only $20 dollars! Before finding the lot I'd seen the 50/f1.4 selling for much more online, so I jumped on the opportunity, and I'm so glad that I did:). This is a very popular lens, but let me go over a few details: The lens was made in Japan, it's very solidly built, and is constructed of metal and hard plastic. What's up everybody! Check out this quick video review of the Canon FD 50mm f1.4 Adapted to the Sony A6000. I purchased this lens from my local thrift store and got a fantastic deal! The lens came bundled in a camera bag with a third party FD mount 28mm f2.8 lens and a Canon T50 film camera. I was so excited when I saw the bag listed for only $20 dollars! Before finding the lot I'd seen the 50/f1.4 selling for much more online, so I jumped on the opportunity, and I'm so glad that I did:). This is a very popular lens, but let me go over a few details: The lens was made in Japan, it's very solidly built, and is constructed of metal and hard plastic. It's stylized very similar to other FD bayonet lenses, with a green and white color way. It weighs in at 8 ounces and sits 1.75 inches tall. Focusing is smooth and will take you a half turn to go from infinity to a minimum focusing distinct of 1.5 feet. The aperture starts at f22 and opens up to a bright f1.4. Eight aperture blades produce some beautiful round bokeh, making this lens a nice portrait lens option. I'm adapting the lens using a K&F; Concept Adapter I bought from Amazon for about $15 (see link below). The adapter is the magical piece of metal that allows us to use these old lenses on our new cameras. In this case I'm using an adapter that converts the Canon FD Mount to the Sony NEX/E-Mount, it's labeled (FD-NEX). The FD mount is a little tricky in that it requires you to throw an extra open/close switch on the adapter before you can adjust the aperture. In this video we'll take a closer look at the lens design, show how to operate the focus and aperture rings, adapt the lens, and run out and get some sample photos and videos.
There are so many reason to like these old lenses. Not only does it make your camera look super cool, but adapting these lenses can be an excellent way to acquire quality glass at a bargain price:)

Canon FD 50mm f1.4 Adapted to the Sony A6000
What's up everybody! Check out this quick video review of the Canon FD 50mm f1.4 Adapted to the Sony A6000. I purchased this lens from my local thrift store and got a fantastic deal! The lens came bundled in a camera bag with a third party FD mount 28mm f2.8 lens and a Canon T50 film camera. I was so excited when I saw the bag listed for only $20 dollars! Before finding the lot I'd seen the 50/f1.4 selling for much more online, so I jumped on the opportunity, and I'm so glad that I did:). This is a very popular lens, but let me go over a few details: The lens was made in Japan, it's very solidly built, and is constructed of metal and hard plastic. What's up everybody! Check out this quick video review of the Canon FD 50mm f1.4 Adapted to the Sony A6000. I purchased this lens from my local thrift store and got a fantastic deal! The lens came bundled in a camera bag with a third party FD mount 28mm f2.8 lens and a Canon T50 film camera. I was so excited when I saw the bag listed for only $20 dollars! Before finding the lot I'd seen the 50/f1.4 selling for much more online, so I jumped on the opportunity, and I'm so glad that I did:). This is a very popular lens, but let me go over a few details: The lens was made in Japan, it's very solidly built, and is constructed of metal and hard plastic. It's stylized very similar to other FD bayonet lenses, with a green and white color way. It weighs in at 8 ounces and sits 1.75 inches tall. Focusing is smooth and will take you a half turn to go from infinity to a minimum focusing distinct of 1.5 feet. The aperture starts at f22 and opens up to a bright f1.4. Eight aperture blades produce some beautiful round bokeh, making this lens a nice portrait lens option. I'm adapting the lens using a K&F; Concept Adapter I bought from Amazon for about $15 (see link below). The adapter is the magical piece of metal that allows us to use these old lenses on our new cameras. In this case I'm using an adapter that converts the Canon FD Mount to the Sony NEX/E-Mount, it's labeled (FD-NEX). The FD mount is a little tricky in that it requires you to throw an extra open/close switch on the adapter before you can adjust the aperture. What's up everybody! Check out this quick video review of the Canon FD 50mm f1.4 Adapted to the Sony A6000. I purchased this lens from my local thrift store and got a fantastic deal! The lens came bundled in a camera bag with a third party FD mount 28mm f2.8 lens and a Canon T50 film camera. I was so excited when I saw the bag listed for only $20 dollars! Before finding the lot I'd seen the 50/f1.4 selling for much more online, so I jumped on the opportunity, and I'm so glad that I did:). This is a very popular lens, but let me go over a few details: The lens was made in Japan, it's very solidly built, and is constructed of metal and hard plastic. It's stylized very similar to other FD bayonet lenses, with a green and white color way. It weighs in at 8 ounces and sits 1.75 inches tall. Focusing is smooth and will take you a half turn to go from infinity to a minimum focusing distinct of 1.5 feet. The aperture starts at f22 and opens up to a bright f1.4. Eight aperture blades produce some beautiful round bokeh, making this lens a nice portrait lens option. I'm adapting the lens using a K&F; Concept Adapter I bought from Amazon for about $15 (see link below). The adapter is the magical piece of metal that allows us to use these old lenses on our new cameras. In this case I'm using an adapter that converts the Canon FD Mount to the Sony NEX/E-Mount, it's labeled (FD-NEX). The FD mount is a little tricky in that it requires you to throw an extra open/close switch on the adapter before you can adjust the aperture. In this video we'll take a closer look at the lens design, show how to operate the focus and aperture rings, adapt the lens, and run out and get some sample photos and videos.

Monster Canon FD 1200mm f11 lens captures lunar eclipse on October 8th filmed in Ibaraki prefecture in Japan. Moon close up with 1200mm lens on Panasonic GH1 4/3 gives amazing 2400mm optical power! This rare remarkable lens mounted on tripod shows fast Moon movement in the sky. At 2400mm it was really fast and it was impossible to track the moon without motorized tripod head. Lens length is about 1.6 m~5 ft (with hood and camera attached) and weight 6.5kg ~ 20lb. Panasonic GH1 has an amazing video capabilities but in the darkness shows a weak side.
