A flashlight (more often called a torch outside North America) is a portable hand-held electric light. Usually, the source of the light is a small incandescent light bulb or light-emitting diode (LED). A typical flashlight consists of a light bulb mounted in a reflector, a transparent cover (sometimes combined with a lens) to protect the light source and reflector, a battery, and a switch. These are supported and protected by a case.
The invention of the dry cell and miniature incandescent electric light bulbs made the first battery-powered flashlights possible around 1899. Today flashlights use mostly incandescent lamps or light-emitting diodes and run on disposable or rechargeable batteries. Some are powered by the user turning a crank or shaking the lamp, and some have solar panels to recharge a battery.
In addition to the general-purpose hand-held flashlight, many forms have been adapted for special uses. Head or helmet-mounted flashlights designed for miners and campers leave the hands free. Some flashlights can be used underwater or in flammable atmospheres.
"Flashlight" is a song recorded by British recording artist Jessie J for the soundtrack to the film Pitch Perfect 2 (2015). The song was written by Sia Furler, Christian Guzman, Jason Moore and Sam Smith. The song was originally obtained when one pre-ordered the Pitch Perfect 2 soundtrack in the United States, beginning 23 April 2015; it later became available for download on its own. "Flashlight" was released in the UK on 11 May 2015 both on the soundtrack and as a stand-alone single. Flashlight was particularly successful in Australia, peaking at number two, and number seven in New Zealand.
Flashlight received generally mixed reviews. In a less favourable review, Steven J. Horowitz of Billboard gave the song two stars out of five, saying: "prone to funny bone shout-singing on her more upbeat singles, Jessie J dials back her vocal force on the tepid "Flashlight", off the Pitch Perfect 2 soundtrack. The more subtle delivery would be welcome if the track weren't so paint-by-numbers, it plays like a pantomime of a Sia ballad, but without the emotive edge."
"Flash Light" is a song by funk band Parliament, released in January 1978 on the album Funkentelechy Vs. the Placebo Syndrome. It was the first #1 R&B hit by any of the P-Funk groups and reached #16 on the Pop charts. The track became Parliament's second certified million selling single, following "Give Up the Funk (Tear the Roof Off the Sucker)". "Flash Light" also gave Casablanca Records its first number one R&B hit.
The song's distinctive bass line is often attributed to Bootsy Collins and was originally written for him. However, the line was actually performed by Bernie Worrell on three connected Minimoog synthesizers. Collins still contributed to the track by handling drum duties. Lead vocals were by bandleader George Clinton, while Bootsy's older brother Catfish Collins played rhythm guitar. "Flash Light" continued the "Fake the Funk/Your nose will grow/Sir Nose D'Voidoffunk" concept that began with Bootsy's Rubber Band's "The Pinocchio Theory". The success of "Flash Light" would greatly influence not only Funk music, but also new wave and hip-hop.
Coffee is a brewed drink prepared from roasted coffee beans, which are the seeds of berries from the Coffea plant. The plant is native to subtropical Africa and some islands in southern Asia. The plant was exported from Africa to countries around the world and coffee plants are now cultivated in over 70 countries, primarily in the equatorial regions of the Americas, Southeast Asia, India, and Africa. The two most commonly grown are the highly regarded arabica, and the less sophisticated but stronger and more hardy robusta. Once ripe, coffee beans are picked, processed, and dried. Dried coffee beans are roasted to varying degrees, depending on the desired flavor. Roasted beans are ground and brewed to produce coffee as a beverage.
Coffee is slightly acidic and can have a stimulating effect on humans because of its caffeine content. Coffee is one of the most popular drinks in the world. It can be prepared and presented in a variety of ways (e.g., espresso, cappuccino, cafe latte, etc.). It is usually served hot, although iced coffee is also served. Clinical studies indicate that moderate coffee consumption is benign or mildly beneficial in healthy adults, with continuing research on whether long-term consumption inhibits cognitive decline during aging or lowers the risk of some forms of cancer.
"Coffee" (also titled "Coffee (Fucking)") is a song by American singer Miguel, featuring vocals from fellow American rapper Wale, taken from his third studio album Wildheart (2015). It was released on May 4, 2015 by ByStorm Entertainment and RCA Records as the album's lead single.
The song was leaked online in December 2014, and it was featured on his mixtape Wild.
"Coffee" received generally positive reviews from music critics. The song was chosen upon release as Pitchfork Media's "Best New Track". Meaghan Garvey stated that "in an age where our R&B heroes proclaim their lack of emotions a little too loudly, "Coffee" presents intimacy as infinitely bad-ass: "A cold flame, the thrill of no shame."Rolling Stone ranked "Coffee" at number 27 on its year-end list to find the 50 best songs of 2015.
A music video for the song was released on June 16, 2015. The original version was used to make the video instead of the extended version.
