Argentina (i/ˌɑːrdʒənˈtiːnə/; Spanish: [aɾxenˈtina]), officially the Argentine Republic (Spanish: República Argentina), is a federal republic located in southeastern South America. Sharing the bulk of the Southern Cone with its neighbour Chile, it is bordered by Bolivia and Paraguay to the north; Brazil to the northeast; Uruguay and the South Atlantic Ocean to the east; Chile to the west and the Drake Passage to the south.
With a mainland area of 2,780,400 km2 (1,073,500 sq mi), Argentina is the eighth-largest country in the world, the second-largest in Latin America, and the largest Spanish-speaking one. Argentina claims sovereignty over part of Antarctica, the Falkland Islands (Spanish: Islas Malvinas), South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands. The country is subdivided into twenty-three provinces (Spanish: provincias, singular provincia) and one autonomous city (ciudad autónoma), Buenos Aires, which is the federal capital of the nation (Spanish: Capital Federal) as decided by Congress. The provinces and the capital have their own constitutions, but exist under a federal system.

Amid the devastation, a cheap and enormously addictive drug called paco — a variation of crack made from cocaine residue, baking soda, and sometimes even crushed glass and rat poison — started to take hold, especially among young people in urban barrios. Today, 13 years after the crisis, Argentina's economy is once again in trouble, and the widespread abuse of paco continues. VICE News traveled to Argentina and talked to paco manufactures and users, along with activists and government authorities, to find out why so little has been done to curb the problem, a...

The town of Epecuen in Argentina was once a busy lakeside tourist resort. But in November 1985, after a succession of wet winters, the lake overflowed, breaking through the lake wall and into the town. Residents evacuated safely, but the town remained underwater for almost 30 years until the water evaporated. Now the ruins of the town have emerged and residents can walk around their former home again. A political scandal has erupted in Argentina over the mysterious death of special prosecutor Albert Nisman. The 52-year-old was found dead in his apartment on January 18, the day before he was scheduled to testify before Congress that Argentina’s President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner — along with members of her government — had attempted to cover-up a deal that protected the perpetrators of the 1994 bombing of a Buenos Aires Jewish cultural center. As theories regarding Nisman’s death continue to swirl, VICE News traveled to Buenos Aires to investigate the mystery. Scientists have discovered a mysterious island in Argentina that rotates on its own axis. The landmass at the center of the island, is called ‘The Eye’. It is located in swampy marshes of ‘Parana Delta’ in Argentina’s north. Scientists say the island has existed since at least 2003. It’s around 118 meters in diameter, and sits on a pond of water, which is clear, cold and in deep contrast with its surrounding area. New findings suggest the circle not only rotates on its own axis but is also leaning in various sectors on the wall of the outer circle that contains it. This is hand held video footage mashed with still photographs from the "Marcha del Orgullo", in English, Pride March, Buenos Aires, Argentina in 2007. There is no doubt that for anyone planning a visit to Argentina then the "Marcha del Orgullo" should be included on your itinerary. It is testament to the effectiveness of the Event that it was covered on the front pages of newspapers and on Television and reports suggested that approx 150,000 people participated! Anyone looking at this footage will see how truly diverse the participants in the parade were. My impression was that there was a real sense of community. Instead of brand name splinter groups competing for attention and membership there was evidence of a cohesive community on display and this clearly added to the feeling or atmo...

Beef is an integral part of the Argentine identity, economy and way of life. Historically, Argentina has been one of the world’s largest producers and consumers of beef. Yet in recent years the country has slid down the list in terms of production. That’s something the new government aims to reverse with pro-agriculture economic policies and hopes that the lifting of United States import restrictions can help reactivate the industry. Correspondent Joel Richards examines the beef business of Argentina for “Americas Now.” From an upscale Buenos Aires steakhouse called “Steaks By Luis” where the perfect “asado” is made, to the grasslands of Sante Fe where cattle ranching farms retain tradition by being passed down through the generations, Joel travels the country to show us the importance ...

Argentina is the largest Spanish-speaking country in South America and geographically dominates the south of it. It is full of extremes. South America’s hottest and coldest temperatures have been recorded here: minus 32 degrees Celsius in Patagonia, and plus 49 in the Córdoba province. The climate is exceptionally diverse, ranging from subtropical in the north to subpolar in the far south, while the most populated areas are generally temperate. The central region of fertile lands is known as „La Pampa“, with flat land and medium-height mountains. There is jungle in the very northeast while the south is dominated by the Patagonia plateau that features subantarctic forests in the west, arid and rocky steppes to the east and moister cold grasslands in the south. One of the most colorful and touristy areas you can visit in Buenos Aires is Caminito located in the heart of La Bocca Barrio (nieghborhood). Here you can enjoy overpriced meals, tango shows, souvenir shopping and people watching as you marvel at all of the colorful architecture. Nearby is where the Boca Juniors football club plays its home games. Overall, we feel it's worth a visit but is not an area you'd need to linger or return again. A tour of La Boca Barrio (Caminito) in Buenos Aires, Argentina Travel Video Transcript: So new vlog from Buenos Aires. Today we are visiting a neighborhood called La Boca. And it is know for its very colorful buildings and it is actually very touristy which means the prices here are quite high. Yeah, we just got absolutely fleeced for lunch. It was one ...

Throughout South America, indigenous communities are often among the poorest, and much of the land they used to inhabit has been taken over for farming. Although Argentina produces more than enough food, and the government has launched an emergency plan to prevent more deaths, in some areas children are still in desperate need. A few weeks ago, Daniel Radcliffe stopped by the NYLON offices and sat at the front desk, unbeknownst to staffers and office visitors. The following was written by a NYLON employee, who wishes to remain anonymous. This is her tale. It was a Thursday afternoon, just like any other. I was sitting at my desk, tired and a tad despondent, when I decided to "stretch my legs." And by that, I mean grab a bag of Cheez-Its*. As I turned the corner to the lobby, I was blinded. The pink neon NYLON sign had been cooking for hours, and it was very bright. I reached around the desk, grabbed a bag, and made my merry way back to my desk. As I walked back, out of the corner of my eye, I saw that there was a man sitting at the desk. I turned my head, and, to my delight, I realized that my peripheral vision ...

2014. TyC Sports - "Sportia 2014" News program packaging. Not only is TyC Sports the most popular sports channel in Argentina, but it is also popular throughout the rest of Latin America and among Spanish speakers in the US. For the third time in the last 5 years, LUMBRE has been entrusted with the mammoth task of rebranding their sports news flagship, SPORTIA. The full package of the rebrand weighs in at over 50 pieces including openings, bumpers, sections, and a graphic system for data and statistics. And yes, we here at LUMBRE do use the excuse that we are doing research for work whenever anyone at home tries to change the channel away from sports. We admit that it is a pretty nice perk to the job. More info and process> https://www.behance.net/gallery/SPORTIA-2014/14444445 Client...

2011 - TyC Sports Program packaging - "PASO A PASO" This is one of Argentina's most popular sports channels. A sign of strong national identity, a passionate football lover, the programs are based upon this spirit. It includes broadcasts of live league matches. Its language style is colloquial and warm, and its journalism is respected by sports fans. It's a channel with a much smaller budget than its competition and according to market research studies provided by the client, the audience considered the programs and the institutional identity of low quality. The competition marked the step with a cold aesthetics, full of brightness and baroque 3D, with high quality images. Argentina is one of the jewels in the Latin American crown. A vast country stretching 3,500 kilometres from the Bolivian border in the north to Ushuaia and the gateway to Antarctica in the south, it is a place that offers some of the most impressive natural wonders anywhere on earth. It has a world-class tourist infrastructure, with arguably the best cuisine on the continent, and it is safe. But its not just that that makes a trip to Argentina feel so special. The country simply has a redoubtable spirit unlike any other in the region, and nowhere is that more evident than in its lively capital, Buenos Aires. If Argentina is one of the jewels in the Latin American crown, so the cosmopolitan Buenos Aires is one of the standout cities of the continent. Many gateway cities are just that, and...
Travel video about destination Argentina. Argentina is the second largest country in South America and a captivating land of tango, adventure and breathtaking nature.Buenos Aires is the capital of Argentina and the most European city in South America with buildings that are reminiscent of bygone times. The mighty Plaza De Mayo is the historic heart of the city, along with the presidential palace, the Casa Rosada and the Catedral Metropolitana. Today the tango is performed in each corner of the city and in the nineteenth century poor immigrants from Italy and Spain settled in Buenos Aires. This explains the fiery temperament and deep melancholy that is expressed by the dances and is evident with each flick of the leg. In what was once the red light district with its whore houses of colourfu...

Iguazú Falls is almost 2 miles wide and is not one, but an astonishing 275 waterfalls. Eighty percent of the falls lies in Argentina and twenty percent in Brazil, which is why the falls has two names: ‘Iguazú’ in Spanish and ‘Iguaçu’ in Portuguese. Follow the boardwalk trail through the jungle and stand on viewing platforms over the falls. Feel humbled by the power of the tumbling water mass below you. In the wet season, 450,000 cubic feet thunders over the combined falls each second! Enjoy a more serene frontal view of the falls from the viewing points in Brazil. From here, the river seems to drape itself over the edge like a curtain. Take a journey beneath the falls on a speedboat safari. If you’d rather stay dry, take a helicopter ride over the U-shaped series of falls to see how ...
When we presented the stunning short-film ‘Experience Imagination: In South America’ earlier this year, the response we received was overwhelming – they wanted more, and so did we. Fortunately for all of us, the talented filmmakers who brought us part one -- the first dose of their incredible experience on a 4-month journey through South America -- didn't make us wait too long for the second video. The new short-film, ‘In South America: Untamed Winds’ follows lifelong friends, and filmmakers, Vincent Urban, Clemens Krüger, and Stefan Templer on a four-month road trip through Argentina, Chile, Bolivia, and southern Brazil. Along the way, they witnessed the continent's natural beauty and were confronted with difficult weather conditions. “I hope a viewer is able to feel the time passing,...

These waterways also feed snowmelt from the Andes to Mendoza's vineyards, which produce about the majority of Argentina’s wine today. Noteworthy Spanish colonial buildings in Mendoza include the Banco Hipotecario Nacional, the domed Espacio Contemporáneo de Arte, in a former bank, the monumental Teatro Independencia, and the central Basilica de San Francisco. As seen from above, Mendoza’s most central parks take on the shape of a dotted number five, like the on dice. The leafy Plaza Independencia, with ...
During my trip to South America in November, 2007, my first stop was in Argentina. In this video I visit the hip, young neighborhood of Soho Palermo, explore amazing Recolata Cemetary (where Eva Peron is buried), and stroll along Florida Avenue, the hub of Buenos Aires.
In part two I check out the famed Buenos Aires nightlife, visit the giant San Telmo Fair where tens of thousands of people converge every Sunday, and travel out of the city and through the Pampas to the small gaucho town of San Antonio de Areco.

Un voyage de près de 4 semaines à travers l'Argentine présenté en 5 minutes de film. Beaucoup de trekking, pas mal de temps dans les autocars, et plein de souvenirs. A near four-week trip through Argentina compressed into 5 min 22 sec. Lots of trekking, lots of time on the bus and lots of memories. The bike sequences. I was bombing down the hills in Parque Nacional Nahuel Huapi on a rental bike (whose brakes worked so so) holding my heavy D-SLR in one hand and hoping that I would not break anything (including myself). Some times one gets lucky and things work out. Music: To build a house - by Cinematic Orchestra To read more on this trip and my other trips: http://www.nwsummit.com/voyages/index.html

** Please read this comment: https://vimeo.com/122515337#comment_13088639 ** IMPORTANT NOTE: This video is not trying to deliver any political ideologies. Characters like Ernesto Guevara, Eva Perón or Jorge Videla are part of Argentina's history and by introducing them I don't mean to judge anything. I'm fully aware of controversies and don't want to be a part of dispute. ** The third part of our travel - 5 months in the midst of the vast land of Argentina. It's not easy to plan your journey when you cycle trough the country that is 3,650 km long and has more than 1,400 km at its widest point. In the beginning we had a strong feeling that because of our 'limits' we're missing a lot. Then a moment came when we realized that it wasn't about places you visited, but people, smells, tastes ...

In august 2016, we went to Argentina to explore two parts of the country: the north part, Salta's region and its incredible desertic landscapes, and the south part, El Calafate, its glaciers, and beautiful mountains. Entirely filmed on sony A7SI, little tripod, 3 lenses (24-70, 14mm, 70-300), and goprohero3+black for a few shots (hyperlapses car shot on roads). Music from premiumBeat

In April 2012 Corey Martinez, Jimmy Rushmore, Nathan Williams, Geoff Slattery & Christian Rigal headed to Argentina for a United trip in conjunction with Bloque Distribution. We were lucky enough to have the opportunity to send Tommy, Aaron, and Kevin to Argentina for a little rest and relaxation recently, and here is the fun as filmed/edited by Devon Hutchins. The crew was hosted by two amazing individuals, Aurora and Marcelo, and we can't even begin to thank them enough for the generosity and hospitality. Argentina is an incredible place, and the boys said it was one of the best trips of their lives! Thanks Argentina, Empire BMX
Ist es was wir denken
Oder ist es was wir sagen
Warum könnt ihr uns nicht leiden
Warum müssen wir euch ertragen
Warum könnt ihr nicht ruhig sein
Warum könnt ihr nicht schweigen
Warum müßt ihr immer wieder hetzen
Den Haß vorwärts treiben
Refrain:
