I'm not a still photographer per say. I know my way around the camera, I have been paid to take photos lots of times, but it has been more in a journalistic matter.
On a hobby level I shoot and develop film as a cheap way to practice film exposure for my s16mm experiments.
Lately I have been looking for ways to improve my skills as a cinematographer.
One way is to become better at taking stills.
If I can capture what I want in one frame, surely it must be easier with 24 frames per seconds.
I'm still not decided between the M8 and M9, but time will tell.

The most interesting things about Huawei's P9 are the dual camera sensors on the back. This is the first device born of the collaboration between Huawei and Leica, and it's not without a little controversy. While Huawei representatives insist that Leica was an active partner in developing the camera hardware and software for the P9, many are still concerned this might only be a branding exercise. To see if this experiment is successful, we used the P9 for five days around Los Angeles, collecting samples in varying lighting conditions, and now we're ready to report our results. LEICA M9-P Hermès - HOW ITS MADE / FACTORY TOUR. Leica teases our wallets with $50,000 Edition
If you've ever wondered if designer names alone can send a product's price tag through the roof, this should suffice as confirmation. Hermès, the Parisian fashion giant best known for its prohibitively expensive wearable accessories, has teamed up with Leica for some creative marketing. Two special M9-P editions will be available -- a total of 300 Edition Hermès digital rangefinders will ship beginning in June for $25,000, while 100 "very special" (even more exclusive) Edition Hermès - Série Limitée Jean-Louis Dumas models will be available in July for, ahem, $50,000 (that's fifty thousand, in case you assumed it was a typo).
Likely realizing that it would be insanely absurd to unload the M9-P for either price without lenses included, Leica has opted to offer both as complete kits. The less expensive version uses some fancy calfskin leather with a silver chrome finish, and ships with a Leica Summilux-M 50 mm f/1.4 ASPH. optic. The "very special" version, on the other hand, includes a Leica Summicron-M 28 mm f/2 ASPH., a Leica Noctilux-M 50 mm f/0.95 ASPH. and a Leica APO-Summicron-M 90 mm f/2 ASPH -- all finished in anodized silver. It also comes with a bag and a book. Due to the incredibly limited production run, you'll probably want to pitch a tent (or have your assistant park their assistant's Maybach) outside the Washington DC Leica Store, beginning sometime later this month.

Lseems to be on a roll, at least when it comes to making up crazier and crazier prices for its cameras. And nothing screams "overpriced" more than a special edition. Well, nothing except a special edition with "Hermes" in its name.
OK. There is one thing more expensive, a special edition Leica, with "Hermes" in its name, and with the whole thing written in French. Behold: the "Leica M9-P 'Edition Hermès Jean-Louis Dumas'," a camera that costs just $50,000.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LAfSfnykXfo
The Leica M9-P "Edition Hermès" is in fact a kit, and comes in a box with three lenses and a bag — a 28mm ƒ2, a 50mm ƒ0.95 and a 90mm ƒ2. And it isn't just the usual Leica special edition, either. The top and bottom plates have been tweaked (in "collaboration" with car designer Jean-Louis Dumas no less), as have the controls, and the lenses come in a special silver-anodized finish.
Too rich for you? Of course it is. But if you have $25,000 burning a hole in your pocket you can grab one with just one lens, the Summilux-M 50 mm ƒ1.4 ASPH, which is the lens I'd probably choose anyway.
Weirdly, nowhere is there a 35mm lens, which is the real classic rangefinder focal length. This is probably because these kits will never actually be used to take a photograph. They will instead be locked up in the collection rooms of some very rich fools who likely also own Vertu phones.
Oh, and the name? According to the press release, Jean-Louis Dumas was "the former president of Hermès," and dies in 2010.

Leica Camera AG (pronounced [ˈlaɪka]), is a German optics enterprise and manufacturer of Leica cameras. The company is primarily known for its high-quality, lightweight rangefinder cameras, which have gained renown from their use as the camera of choice for several famous street photographers. The predecessor of the company, formerly known as Ernst Leitz GmbH, is now three companies: Leica Camera AG, Leica Geosystems AG, and Leica Microsystems GmbH, which manufacture cameras, geosurvey equipment, and microscopes, respectively. Leica Microsystems AG owns the Leica brand and licenses the sister companies to use it.
History
Before WWII
The name Leica is a combination of the first three letters of Ernst Leitz's surname and the first two from the word camera; lei-ca. The first 35mm film Leica prototypes were built by Oskar Barnack at Ernst Leitz Optische Werke, Wetzlar, in 1913. Intended as a compact camera for landscape photography, particularly during mountain trips, the Leica was the first practical 35 mm camera that used standard cinema 35 mm film. The Leica transports the film horizontally, extending the frame size to 24×36mm with a 2:3 aspect ratio, instead of the 18×24 mm of cinema cameras which transport the film vertically.

I'm not a still photographer per say. I know my way around the camera, I have been paid to take photos lots of times, but it has been more in a journalistic matter.
On a hobby level I shoot and develop film as a cheap way to practice film exposure for my s16mm experiments.
Lately I have been looking for ways to improve my skills as a cinematographer.
One way is to become better at taking stills.
If I can capture what I want in one frame, surely it must be easier with 24 frames per seconds.
I'm still not decided between the M8 and M9, but time will tell.

Likely realizing that it would be insanely absurd to unload the M9-P for either price without lenses included, Leica has opted to offer both as complete kits. The less expensive version uses some fancy calfskin leather with a silver chrome finish, and ships with a Leica Summilux-M 50 mm f/1.4 ASPH. optic. The "very special" version, on the other hand, includes a Leica Summicron-M 28 mm f/2 ASPH., a Leica Noctilux-M 50 mm f/0.95 ASPH. and a Leica APO-Summicron-M 90 mm f/2 ASPH -- all finished in anodized silver. It also comes with a bag and a book. Due to the incredibly limited production run, you'll probably want to pitch a tent (or have your assistant park their assistant's Maybach) outside the Washington DC Leica Store, beginning sometime later this month.
