Cecil McBee was born in Tulsa/OK, a community of rich and varied musical roots - including Country and Western, Rhythm and Blues, Classical and Jazz.
Mr. McBee's musical career began in Highschool, where he first played the clarinet. He and his sister Shirley soon thereafter gained statewide fame performing clarinet duets at concerts. By the age of 17 Cecil had begun to experiment with the string bass and played frequently at local nightclubs with top Jazz and Rhythm and Blues groups.
He attended Central State University at Wilberforce/OH, as a clarinet major and received a bachelor of science degree in music education. There the deep Jazz tradition inspired him to focus his attention on the bass, the classics, and Jazz composition.
Throughout college Cecil supported himself by playing the bass professionally. However, his formal studies were interrupted by his induction into the US-army.
He spent two years as a member of the 158th Army Band at Fort Knox Kentucky, which was concluded by his graduating to conductor of the band the last three month of his military responsibilty. There he develloped a personal study of bass composition and improvisation. By the time he graduated from college Cecil realized that although he had prepared for a career in education he was now more inspired by Jazz Improvisation. Because of this Cecil decided to spend time in Detroit after his graduation from university.
Detroit was then one of the most powerful Jazz communities in all the world. Within a year he joined the Paul Winter Sextett and moved to New York City, while a member of the band.

Cecil McBee
Cecil McBee (born May 19, 1935) is an American post-bop jazz bassist, one of the most influential in the history of jazz. McBee has recorded as a leader only a handful of times since the 1970s, but has contributed as a sideman to a number of jazz albums.
Biography
Early life and career
McBee was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on May 19, 1935. He studied clarinet at school, but switched to bass at the age of 17, and began playing in local nightclubs. After gaining a music degree from Ohio Central State University, he spent two years in the army, during which time he conducted the band at Fort Knox. In 1959 he played with Dinah Washington, and in 1962 he moved to Detroit, where he worked with Paul Winter's folk-rock ensemble in 1963–64.
New York
His jazz career began to take off in the mid-1960s, after he moved to New York, when he began playing and recording with a number of significant musicians including Miles Davis, Andrew Hill, Sam Rivers, Jackie McLean (1964), Wayne Shorter (1965–66), Charles Lloyd (1966), Yusef Lateef (1967–69), Keith Jarrett, Freddie Hubbard and Woody Shaw (1986), and Alice Coltrane (1969–72).

Cecil McBee was born in Tulsa/OK, a community of rich and varied musical roots - including Country and Western, Rhythm and Blues, Classical and Jazz.
Mr. McBee's musical career began in Highschool, where he first played the clarinet. He and his sister Shirley soon thereafter gained statewide fame performing clarinet duets at concerts. By the age of 17 Cecil had begun to experiment with the string bass and played frequently at local nightclubs with top Jazz and Rhythm and Blues groups.
He attended Central State University at Wilberforce/OH, as a clarinet major and received a bachelor of science degree in music education. There the deep Jazz tradition inspired him to focus his attention on the bass, the classics, and Jazz composition.
Throughout college Cecil supported himself by playing the bass professionally. However, his formal studies were interrupted by his induction into the US-army.
He spent two years as a member of the 158th Army Band at Fort Knox Kentucky, which was concluded by his graduating to conductor of the band the last three month of his military responsibilty. There he develloped a personal study of bass composition and improvisation. By the time he graduated from college Cecil realized that although he had prepared for a career in education he was now more inspired by Jazz Improvisation. Because of this Cecil decided to spend time in Detroit after his graduation from university.
Detroit was then one of the most powerful Jazz communities in all the world. Within a year he joined the Paul Winter Sextett and moved to New York City, while a member of the band.

「日本のガールズカルチャーを世界へ」をテーマに2005年8月から年2回開催している史上最大級のファッションフェスタ「東京ガールズコレクション」（以下、TGC）。
2016年3月19日（土）に開催された「第22回 東京ガールズコレクション 2016 SPRING/SUMMER」では、“PARTY”をテーマに、人気モデルが集結するファッションショーをはじめ、旬のアーティストによるライブや、話題のゲストが登場するスペシャルステージなど、TGCならではの豪華ステージを展開した。
TGC is the largest fashion festival in history, held twice a year since August 2005 with a theme of "introducing Japanese girls’ culture to the world”. In the Beginning (also released as Cassandranite) is an album featuring the demo tapes recorded in 1965 by trumpeter Woody Shaw in his original quest for a recording contract which was eventually released on the Muse label in 1983.[1][2] Cassandranite was released as part of Woody Shaw: The Complete Muse Sessions by Mosaic Records in 2013.
Some interesting, uneven, but worthwhile '65 material from trumpeter Woody Shaw. He was still fresh on the jazz scene and had only recently recovered from the death of mentor Eric Dolphy. Shaw teamed with tenor saxophonist Joe Henderson, pianist Herbie Hancock, and bassists Ron Carter or Paul Chambers on these cuts. His potential certainly emerges, as does the fact he was a tentative, unsure soloist at this juncture.

Cecil McBee was born in Tulsa/OK, a community of rich and varied musical roots - including Country and Western, Rhythm and Blues, Classical and Jazz. Mr. McBee's musical career began in Highschool, where he first played the clarinet. He and his sister Shirley soon thereafter gained statewide fame performing clarinet duets at concerts. By the age of 17 Cecil had begun to experiment with the string bass and played frequently at local nightclubs with top Jazz and Rhythm and Blues groups. He attended Central State University at Wilberforce/OH, as a clarinet major and received a bachelor of science degree in music education. Mr. McBee's musical career began in Highschool, where he first played the clarinet. He and his sister Shirley soon thereafter gained statewide fame performing clarinet duets at concerts. By the age of 17 Cecil had begun to experiment with the string bass and played frequently at local nightclubs with top Jazz and Rhythm and Blues groups.
He attended Central State University at Wilberforce/OH, as a clarinet major and received a bachelor of science degree in music education. There the deep Jazz tradition inspired him to focus his attention on the bass, the classics, and Jazz composition.
Throughout college Cecil supported himself by playing the bass professionally. However, his formal studies were interrupted by his induction into the US-army.
He spent two years as a member of the 158th Army Band at Fort Knox Kentucky, which was concluded by his graduating to conductor of the band the last three month of his military responsibilty. There he develloped a personal study of bass composition and improvisation. By the time he graduated from college Cecil realized that although he had prepared for a career in education he was now more inspired by Jazz Improvisation. Because of this Cecil decided to spend time in Detroit after his graduation from university.
Detroit was then one of the most powerful Jazz communities in all the world. Within a year he joined the Paul Winter Sextett and moved to New York City, while a member of the band.

All About Cecil McBee
Cecil McBee was born in Tulsa/OK, a community of rich and varied musical roots - including Country and Western, Rhythm and Blues, Classical and Jazz. Mr. McBee's musical career began in Highschool, where he first played the clarinet. He and his sister Shirley soon thereafter gained statewide fame performing clarinet duets at concerts. By the age of 17 Cecil had begun to experiment with the string bass and played frequently at local nightclubs with top Jazz and Rhythm and Blues groups. He attended Central State University at Wilberforce/OH, as a clarinet major and received a bachelor of science degree in music education. He spent two years as a member of the 158th Army Band at Fort Knox Kentucky, which was concluded by his graduating to conductor of the band the last three month of his military responsibilty. By the time he graduated from college Cecil realized that although he had prepared for a career in education he was now more inspired by Jazz Improvisation. Because of this Cecil decided to spend time in Detroit after his graduation from university.
Detroit was then one of the most powerful Jazz communities in all the world. Within a year he joined the Paul Winter Sextett and moved to New York City, while a member of the band.
