A music video or song video is a short film integrating a song and imagery, produced for promotional or artistic purposes. Modern music videos are primarily made and used as a marketing device intended to promote the sale of music recordings. There are also cases where songs are used in tie in marketing campaigns that allow them to become more than just a song. Tie ins and merchandising could be used in toys are marketing campaigns for food and other products. Although the origins of music videos date back to musical short films that first appeared in the 1920s, they came into prominence in the 1980s when MTV based their format around the medium. Prior to the 1980s, these works were described by various terms including "illustrated song", "filmed insert", "promotional (promo) film", "promotional clip", "promotional video", "song video", "song clip" or "film clip". Since the creation and increased popularity of YouTube, mainstream artists now promote new music videos by releasing trailers of short promos on the site for their upcoming song and music video. Consequentially, YouTube has been converted into a social media platform for celebrities and artists to market themselves to their fans and audiences.

Geffen Records is an American major record label, owned by Universal Music Group, which operates as one third of the Interscope Geffen A&M Records label. Today, it is headquartered in the city of New York and is headed by Gee Roberson, who reports to John Janick, CEO of Interscope Records.
Geffen Records was started in 1980 by music industry businessman David Geffen who, in the early 1970s, had founded Asylum Records. Geffen stepped down from Asylum in 1975, when he crossed over to film and was named a vice-president of Warner Bros. Pictures. He was fired from Warner circa 1978, but remained locked in a 5-year contract, which prevented him from working elsewhere. He returned to work in 1980 and struck a deal with Warner Bros. Records to create Geffen Records. Warner provided 100 percent of the funding for the label's operations and distributed its releases in the United States and Canada; Epic Records handled distribution in the rest of the world until 1985, when Warner Bros. also took over those territories. Profits were split 50/50 between Geffen and the respective distributors.

My experience at the Maxwell and Mary J Blige : King and Queen of Hearts Tour
The Queen of R&B; and Senator Clinton has a little chat together during Mary J. Blige's new talk show, The 411. I had to reupload this video because the first person who did, labeled it something very offensive, inappropriate, and racist. I hope you enjoy. Remember, all rude comments will be taken down
I discuss the recent news story concerning Mary J. Blige and her impending divorce to Kendu Isaacs, her husband/manager/handler/jailer. I knew he was shady from the get up. I analyze Mary's natal chart and numerology to see why she fell victim to this tiger-eyed fool's charade. I close this video out with a Tarot Reading on their marriage, Kendu's intentions, how he viewed Mary and his needs in the marriage. A couple of weeks ago, the Queen of Soul Mary J. Blige had best friend Missy Elliott on her radio show "Real Talk," where the pair discussed tons of topics, ranging from Elliott's work with Jodeci & her old group Sista, discovering longtime buddy Timbaland & Goldmind Inc. affiliate Jazmine Sullivan to producing Aaliyah's "One in a Million" and stealing the spotlight from Katy Perry during the 2015 Super Bowl XLIX. Missy also talks about the last-minute recording for "Get Ur Freak On," collaborating with J. Cole ("Nobody's Perfect"), Pharrell ("WTF") & Mary ("Never Been"), and what legacy Aaliyah would have left behind if she was still alive.
Nine-time Grammy-winner Mary J. Blige turned 45 years old on Monday, January 11. We’re memorializing the R&B; star’s birthday by looking back at the time Mary brought Oprah Show cameras to Yonkers, New York, to share her origin story with the audience. In the 2001 clip, Mary, who Rolling Stone ranked as one of the 100 greatest singers of all time, shares harrowing details about her childhood and the culture of her apartment complex, including how women suffered abuse on a regular basis. “This is the back,” Mary said as she led the cameras into the parking lot behind the building. “A lot of time we used to just come back here figuring we were getting away from people, and we’d run right into abuse, women being beaten because everybody thought they was coming in the back to hide from things....
