Marines, also known as a marine corps and naval infantry, are an infantry force that specializes in the support of naval and army operations on land and at sea, as well as the execution of their own operations. In the majority of countries, the marine force is part of the navy, but it can also be under the army like the Troupes de marine (French Marines) and Givati Brigade (Israeli Marines), or form an independent armed service branch like the United States Marine Corps and Royal Marines.
Historically, tasks undertaken by marines have included providing protection from war while at sea, reflecting the pressed nature of the ships' company and the risk of mutiny. Other tasks would include boarding of vessels during combat or capture of prize ships and providing manpower for raiding ashore in support of the naval objectives.
With the industrialization of warfare in the 20th century the scale of landing operations increased; this brought with it an increased likelihood of opposition and a need for co-ordination of various military elements. Marine forces evolved to specialize in the skills and capabilities required for amphibious warfare.

Aliens: Colonial Marines is a first-person shooter video game developed by Gearbox Software and published by Sega. The game is set in the Alien universe and takes place after the events of the third film in the franchise, Alien 3 (1992). The game is the second Alien title that Sega has produced: the first being Aliens Infestation in 2011. The game was released for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 video game consoles and for Microsoft Windows on February 12, 2013. A Wii U version was being produced for release but was eventually cancelled on April 5, 2013.
Aliens: Colonial Marines is a first-person shooter which puts the player in the role of a United States Colonial Marine named Cpl. Christopher Winter. The player has access to iconic weapons from the movie such as the flamethrower, pulse rifle, smartgun, shotgun, pistol, and robotic sentry turrets. Players are also able to use welding torches to seal doors and motion trackers to detect unseen enemies.
Initially it was announced that the game would involve squad-based gameplay, allowing the player to issue orders to AI-controlled marines using context-sensitive commands. However, Gearbox later revealed that this feature was dropped to make gameplay more accessible.Aliens: Colonial Marines was originally planned to have no HUD to provide the player with onscreen information.

U.S. Marine Corps recruits participate in swim qualification at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island. The recruits learned various water survival techniques to prepare them for situations they could encounter while aboard a ship or in combat. As a part of the test, recruits learn to quickly shed heavy equipment that could pull them underwater, safely leap into deep water, use issued equipment to stay afloat and keep their heads above water while wearing a full utility uniform. The recruits are with Mike Company, 3rd Recruit Training Battalion. We were lucky enough to work with dutch film director Martin Koolhoven on 3 TVC’s to recruit technicians for the Dutch Defense (Marines, Air Force & Ground Force). His idea to portrait the technician as a hero on epic level was one we could not resist to cooperate on. A raw and cinematic approach was the right way to go. With wireframes and fast mechanic animations we got the right look and feel for the animation parts. Next to all the animations, we were responsible for post production and supervision on location. This is a free project I've been working on in my spare time, a small present for a friend of mine. The aim was to create something touching and rough at the same time, so I rotoscoped some footages in a sketchy way and mixed them all together with some cel animations. www.benz.work The anthem film from the new US Marines campaign. From beginning to end, this project was all about authenticity. We wanted the final results to feel as real as the epic moments in history we were depicting. We spent a lot of time researching genuine, specific moments from history that personified Marine Corps values of honor, courage, and commitment. We strived to faithfully recreate the craft and material finishes of bronze sculpture work, and used lighting and cinematography to underpin the sense of realism. As they were all frozen moments, we used focus, lighting and camera movement to lead the viewers eye through the shots. The campaign was inspired by the awesome work of artist Kris Kuksi who JWT Atlanta commissioned to make two additional sculptures.

Inclination for the rock 'n' roll war
Under the flag of peace and law
Your native country to set it free
In the air, on land and on the sea
For their honor and their golden crown
Swing the judgments glory hammer down
The patriot within their valiant heart
Keep 'em hungry for the liberty love
Hatred just a tool, the aggressors to control
Into the jungle's depth, into the desert storm
Caught between legions of hate
Caught beneath malefic eyes of fate
Seems that we are doomed to drown your hopes
Marching to the destiny, no attitudes to lie
Don't want to leave that battlefield without a sign
Engaged to the rifle by my side
Marines
They're fighting for you
Marines
They're dying for you
Marines
Keep your honor clean
Marines
You are the chosen one securing the world
Universal soldier to the bone
And for my brothers you'll get what you deserve
Down the bloody road to war
Marines
They're fighting for you
Marines
They're dying for you
Marines
Keep your honor clean
Marines
Out in the killin' fields
Marines
Marines
They're fighting for you
Marines
They're dying for you
Marines
Keep your honor clean
Marines
You hear the mine clicking under your feet
You know you have to go
You hear the trigger of a foreign gun
To bury all your hope
Ever pave the way for endless peace
Self-sacrificing 'til you have the world to leave
For the common people, honest generation
Just you can stop the human disintegration
Marines
They're fighting for you
Marines
They're dying for you
Marines
Keep your honor clean
Marines
Out in the killin' fields
Marines
