I first became intrigued by the world of the ned during the late 90s after frequent visits to the ned mecca better known as Glasgow. At the time ned and chav culture had not yet caught the attention of the mainstream so in 2000 I decided to pick up a camera and make a mockumentary about this urban menace. It was my first attempt at filmmaking and as a result very flawed, but I learned a lot from the experience. The 10th anniversary edition contains enhanced swearing and added pomposity.
The purpose of the film was not just simply to take a jab at neds, but also to highlight an issue which I feel is a very serious social problem. My other intention was to satirise the manipulative nature of sensationalist documentary filmmaking by making mine clearly one sided, classist and mean spirited. Little did I know that a decade later 'The Scheme' would bring the plight of the ned to the masses in the form of poverty porn.
If this film encourages even one ned to put down their bottle of Bucky and hang up their cap for good then my work has not been in vain.

Recalling is a collage of footage that recalls my memory of Kurt Cobain's death. Three days after my third birthday Kurt had killed himself, on April 8th he was discovered by an electrician and the media went wild. I watched CNN announce his death as this channel was always on because my Dad constantly watched the news and stock market. I felt a simple sadness for him and his family as I was only three, yet I understood what suicide was because my Mom and I used to watch Marilyn Monroe movies together. She had to explain to me how Marilyn had died because I was curious. Little did I know that I would continue to be infatuated with learning about Kurt and trying to understand why this all happened. I grew more and more connected and found the solace so many people had found in his music. I grew to understand him because I found that I could relate to him. But I believe many good things have come from his legacy, even though he is no longer here, his memory is, his music is, and this is what inspires people and myself. In this film is also footage from my childhood around this time, my Cousin Sandi's 1993 Wedding, Christmas 1994, and my 5th Birthday, which all symbolizes childhood innocence and the time that I became affected. The contemporary footage of myself was filmed in 2011 during my trip to Seattle to visit my Cousin Elizabeth. We had traveled to Aberdeen (that footage is not used here) and we went to the EMP Exhibit, Nirvana: Taking Punk to the Masses of which is where this particular footage was filmed, it was my recalling of Kurt's death. I have taken the sound out for my own privacy, if anyone really wants to hear what I am saying, you can contact the Curating Department at the EMP. After this trip I came home and finally decided to seek help for Depression, Anxiety, and Paranoia. The hardest part is admitting it to yourself and the journey is not easy, but for me it was successful because I kept it completely and 100% private until I was done. This film was actually originally constructed in 2011, but was scrapped and the original meaning was changed to a different subject which had reflected my current state of mind at that time and memory of my own personal detachment from society which is, Contaminated Laundry. You can watch that film on this Vimeo Channel and it is also why you will see some of the same footage here is this video. The audio in this film is a childlike ding version of Nirvana's, Sappy that I found on some cheapo download site, I think it was for old cell phones in the early 2000's. It's lullaby-like sound perfectly complimented childhood, so it was a no brainer that I had to use it.

A Dance Explosion
Choreographers Royston Maldoom and Tamara McLorg have forged an international reputation working with marginalised and disadvantaged people in areas such as Ethiopia, Peru, Palestine as well as in Europe. In 2015, the 4 Seasons youth dance project in Aberdeen brought them both back to Scotland for the first time in 30 years to work on a large scale community performance that was part of the Commonwealth Games Cultural Programme and "Get Scotland Dancing" activities. Movie Magic in a Box
The 8½ Foundation was set up by Mark Cousins and Tilda Swinton to increase children’s access to world cinema and to create a new birthday in the life of a child: a movie birthday, at the age of 8½. Thanks to funding from Creative Scotland’s Inspiring Communities Fund, we are working with dozens of schools across the country, from Shetland to Hawick and from Aberdeen to Arran, to send free DVDs to children on their 8½ birthday. We are on course to reach 2000 children by May 2012. On the 10th of January, we will have sent out our 2000th free DVD to a lucky 8½ year old somewhere in Scotland. I first became intrigued by the world of the ned during the late 90s after frequent visits to the ned mecca better known as Glasgow. At the time ned and chav culture had not yet caught the attention of the mainstream so in 2000 I decided to pick up a camera and make a mockumentary about this urban menace. It was my first attempt at filmmaking and as a result very flawed, but I learned a lot from the experience. The 10th anniversary edition contains enhanced swearing and added pomposity.
The purpose of the film was not just simply to take a jab at neds, but also to highlight an issue which I feel is a very serious social problem. My other intention was to satirise the manipulative nature of sensationalist documentary filmmaking by making mine clearly one sided, classist and mean spirited. Little did I know that a decade later 'The Scheme' would bring the plight of the ned to the masses in the form of poverty porn.
If this film encourages even one ned to put down their bottle of Bucky and hang up their cap for good then my work has not been in vain.

Recalling is a collage of footage that recalls my memory of Kurt Cobain's death. Three days after my third birthday Kurt had killed himself, on April 8th he was discovered by an electrician and the media went wild. I watched CNN announce his death as this channel was always on because my Dad constantly watched the news and stock market. I felt a simple sadness for him and his family as I was only three, yet I understood what suicide was because my Mom and I used to watch Marilyn Monroe movies together. She had to explain to me how Marilyn had died because I was curious. Little did I know that I would continue to be infatuated with learning about Kurt and trying to understand why this all happened. I grew more and more connected and found the solace so many people had found in his music. I grew to understand him because I found that I could relate to him. But I believe many good things have come from his legacy, even though he is no longer here, his memory is, his music is, and this is what inspires people and myself. In this film is also footage from my childhood around this time, my Cousin Sandi's 1993 Wedding, Christmas 1994, and my 5th Birthday, which all symbolizes childhood innocence and the time that I became affected. The contemporary footage of myself was filmed in 2011 during my trip to Seattle to visit my Cousin Elizabeth. We had traveled to Aberdeen (that footage is not used here) and we went to the EMP Exhibit, Nirvana: Taking Punk to the Masses of which is where this particular footage was filmed, it was my recalling of Kurt's death. I have taken the sound out for my own privacy, if anyone really wants to hear what I am saying, you can contact the Curating Department at the EMP. After this trip I came home and finally decided to seek help for Depression, Anxiety, and Paranoia. The hardest part is admitting it to yourself and the journey is not easy, but for me it was successful because I kept it completely and 100% private until I was done. This film was actually originally constructed in 2011, but was scrapped and the original meaning was changed to a different subject which had reflected my current state of mind at that time and memory of my own personal detachment from society which is, Contaminated Laundry. You can watch that film on this Vimeo Channel and it is also why you will see some of the same footage here is this video. The audio in this film is a childlike ding version of Nirvana's, Sappy that I found on some cheapo download site, I think it was for old cell phones in the early 2000's. It's lullaby-like sound perfectly complimented childhood, so it was a no brainer that I had to use it.

Choreographers Royston Maldoom and Tamara McLorg have forged an international reputation working with marginalised and disadvantaged people in areas such as Ethiopia, Peru, Palestine as well as in Europe. In 2015, the 4 Seasons youth dance project in Aberdeen brought them both back to Scotland for the first time in 30 years to work on a large scale community performance that was part of the Commonwealth Games Cultural Programme and "Get Scotland Dancing" activities.
Structured round the 12 violin concertos of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, this 40 minute documentary weaves the documentation of the 8 week Aberdeen International Youth festival dance project with the reflections of those involved in the youth “dance explosion” in Fife and Stirling in the 1980s, and includes contributions from people across the Scottish dance sector on the legacy of these extraordinary and influential choreographers.

În scurt timp devine un fel de justiţiar din umbră, un erou necunoscut a cărui identitate nu o bănuieşte nimeni. O comedie neagră plină de imagini impresionante, peisaje hibernale superbe şi o potretizare până la cel mai mic detaliu a mentalităţilor interlopilor suedezi, norvegieni şi chiar a mafioţilor sârbi, reprezentaţi de boss-ul sârb jucat de actorul Bruno Ganz (Downfall, Unknown).

The 8½ Foundation was set up by Mark Cousins and Tilda Swinton to increase children’s access to world cinema and to create a new birthday in the life of a child: a movie birthday, at the age of 8½.
Thanks to funding from Creative Scotland’s Inspiring Communities Fund, we are working with dozens of schools across the country, from Shetland to Hawick and from Aberdeen to Arran, to send free DVDs to children on their 8½ birthday. We are on course to reach 2000 children by May 2012.
On the 10th of January, we will have sent out our 2000th free DVD to a lucky 8½ year old somewhere in Scotland. To celebrate this milestone, we commissioned Edinburgh-based director Alice Nelson to make a short animation to show how we are spreading the gift of cinema.
Movie Magic in a Box was scored by young Scottish composer, Callum Barton, with sound design by artist Zoë Irvine.

Thanks to funding from Creative Scotland’s Inspiring Communities Fund, we are working with dozens of schools across the country, from Shetland to Hawick and from Aberdeen to Arran, to send free DVDs to children on their 8½ birthday. We are on course to reach 2000 children by May 2012.
On the 10th of January, we will have sent out our 2000th free DVD to a lucky 8½ year old somewhere in Scotland. To celebrate this milestone, we commissioned Edinburgh-based director Alice Nelson to make a short animation to show how we are spreading the gift of cinema.
Movie Magic in a Box was scored by young Scottish composer, Callum Barton, with sound design by artist Zoë Irvine.
