I've been dying to cover more Rise of Nations since my first cover back in Year 1. This game had some of my all time favorite music but I knew so few people actually played it instead of Age of Empires. I feel like I was so driven to do songs in Year 2 and 3 that I knew the majority of people would know. Guess I'm just throwing that out the window for this year.
This is probably the prettiest video I've shot this Year so far. Hope you don't mind all the camera eye fucking. That one shot with all the lens flare looked so cool. Everyone go thank @Thunderesque for the amazing cinematography in this one!

scenes i recorded on my 7D while on a goodwill program in Japan in February of 2012.
We were able to walk around what remains of the Tsunami devastated township of Minamisanriku in the Tohoku region. I recorded audio from two ladies who shared with us firsthand their story of struggle and survival.
The Kanji at the start of the film reads "ichi-go ichi-e", which can be translated to "once in a lifetime". I learnt this phrase near the end of my trip by another member of the program. I think it captures the experience.
The editing was inspired by the visual storytelling style of vimeo hero Matty Brown.. With a mix of my own too i suppose..!

As a passionate skater, this inspired me to bring skating to this particularly tough neighbourhood as a way of empowering kids.
As a result “Love in Action” Ethio Skate project was born in my heart.
The community includes boys and girls between the ages of 6 and 19 in the Intoto area of Addis Ababa. Many of the kids are hawking in the city day by day and are slipping through the cracks in the system.
Ethioskate uses skateboarding as a tool for empowering youth, to create new opportunities and to be the potential for change.
We hope to grow a sustainable organization that is recognized locally and globally for changing the lives of youth through skateboarding. "

Across the Universe
"Across the Universe" is a song recorded by the Beatles. It was written by John Lennon, and credited to Lennon–McCartney. The song first appeared on the various artists' charity compilation album No One's Gonna Change Our World in December 1969, and later, in different form, on Let It Be, the group's final released album.
Composition
One night in 1967, the phrase "words are flowing out like endless rain into a paper cup" came to Lennon after hearing his then-wife Cynthia, according to Lennon, "going on and on about something". Later, after "she'd gone to sleep – and I kept hearing these words over and over, flowing like an endless stream", Lennon went downstairs and turned it into a song. He began to write the rest of the lyrics and when he was done, he went to bed and forgot about them.
The flavour of the song was heavily influenced by Lennon's and the Beatles' interest in Transcendental Meditation in late 1967 – early 1968, when the song was composed. Based on this he added the mantra "Jai guru deva om" (Sanskrit: जय गुरुदेव ॐ) to the piece, which became the link to the chorus. The Sanskrit phrase is a sentence fragment whose words could have many meanings. Literally it approximates as "glory to the shining remover of darkness", and can be paraphrased as "Victory to God divine", "Hail to the divine guru", or the phrase commonly invoked by the late Maharishi Mahesh Yogi in referring to his spiritual teacher "All glory to Guru Dev".

Following its release, it debuted at number 26 on the Billboard 200, selling about 26,000 copies in its first week. scenes i recorded on my 7D while on a goodwill program in Japan in February of 2012. We were able to walk around what remains of the Tsunami devastated township of Minamisanriku in the Tohoku region. I recorded audio from two ladies who shared with us firsthand their story of struggle and survival. The Kanji at the start of the film reads "ichi-go ichi-e", which can be translated to "once in a lifetime". I learnt this phrase near the end of my trip by another member of the program. I think it captures the experience. The editing was inspired by the visual storytelling style of vimeo hero Matty Brown.. With a mix of my own too i suppose..! The community includes boys and girls between the ages of 6 and 19 in the Intoto area of Addis Ababa. Many of the kids are hawking in the city day by day and are slipping through the cracks in the system. Ethioskate uses skateboarding as a tool for empowering youth, to create new opportunities and to be the potential for change. We hope to grow a sustainable organization that is recognized locally and globally for changing the lives of youth through skateboarding. GH2 + SLR Magic 12mm 1.6 A short featuring Sara Roholt fly fishing for trout using two-handed or "spey" rods on the Missouri River, Montana in Dec. 2011. This type of fishing is most commonly associated with Steelhead and Atlantic Salmon fishing, but we find that it is extremely effective for trout on our river, especially during the winter months. You can learn more at http://www.headhuntersflyshop.com/wp Shot on an un-hacked Panasonic GH2 at 720 60p and edited in FCP X. -Hyperprime 12mm 1.6- The entire shoot was done with the new SLR Magic/Noktor Hyperprime 12mm f1.6 lens. This great lens gave this amateur a crash course in full manual video shooting. Once I got the hang of using the lens, I really liked it. It loves the subject close to the camera. Most segments were shot from 1.6 - 2.8, some to f4-8. You can see slight vignetting when wide open, but not bothersome to me. The wide angle and almost "macro" (less than 6") capabilities are perfect for the kind of shooting we do while fishing. "Time Lapse' sequences at beginning and end were shot using the GH2 300% feature. First time for that as well. Not amazing quality, but quick and easy. scenes i recorded on my 7D while on a goodwill program in Japan in February of 2012.
We were able to walk around what remains of the Tsunami devastated township of Minamisanriku in the Tohoku region. I recorded audio from two ladies who shared with us firsthand their story of struggle and survival.
The Kanji at the start of the film reads "ichi-go ichi-e", which can be translated to "once in a lifetime". I learnt this phrase near the end of my trip by another member of the program. I think it captures the experience.
The editing was inspired by the visual storytelling style of vimeo hero Matty Brown.. With a mix of my own too i suppose..!

As a passionate skater, this inspired me to bring skating to this particularly tough neighbourhood as a way of empowering kids.
As a result “Love in Action” Ethio Skate project was born in my heart.
The community includes boys and girls between the ages of 6 and 19 in the Intoto area of Addis Ababa. Many of the kids are hawking in the city day by day and are slipping through the cracks in the system.
Ethioskate uses skateboarding as a tool for empowering youth, to create new opportunities and to be the potential for change.
We hope to grow a sustainable organization that is recognized locally and globally for changing the lives of youth through skateboarding. "

A short featuring Sara Roholt fly fishing for trout using two-handed or "spey" rods on the Missouri River, Montana in Dec. 2011.
This type of fishing is most commonly associated with Steelhead and Atlantic Salmon fishing, but we find that it is extremely effective for trout on our river, especially during the winter months. You can learn more at http://www.headhuntersflyshop.com/wp
Shot on an un-hacked Panasonic GH2 at 720 60p and edited in FCP X.
-Hyperprime 12mm 1.6-
The entire shoot was done with the new SLR Magic/Noktor Hyperprime 12mm f1.6 lens. This great lens gave this amateur a crash course in full manual video shooting. Once I got the hang of using the lens, I really liked it. It loves the subject close to the camera. Most segments were shot from 1.6 - 2.8, some to f4-8. You can see slight vignetting when wide open, but not bothersome to me.
The wide angle and almost "macro" (less than 6") capabilities are perfect for the kind of shooting we do while fishing.
"Time Lapse' sequences at beginning and end were shot using the GH2 300% feature. First time for that as well. Not amazing quality, but quick and easy.

scenes i recorded on my 7D while on a goodwill program in Japan in February of 2012. We were able to walk around what remains of the Tsunami devastated township of Minamisanriku in the Tohoku region. I recorded audio from two ladies who shared with us firsthand their story of struggle and survival. The Kanji at the start of the film reads "ichi-go ichi-e", which can be translated to "once in a lifetime". I learnt this phrase near the end of my trip by another member of the program. I think it captures the experience. The editing was inspired by the visual storytelling style of vimeo hero Matty Brown.. With a mix of my own too i suppose..! As a passionate skater, this inspired me to bring skating to this particularly tough neighbourhood as a way of empowering kids. As a result “Love in Action” Ethio Skate project was born in my heart. I've been dying to cover more Rise of Nations since my first cover back in Year 1. This game had some of my all time favorite music but I knew so few people actually played it instead of Age of Empires. I feel like I was so driven to do songs in Year 2 and 3 that I knew the majority of people would know. Guess I'm just throwing that out the window for this year.
This is probably the prettiest video I've shot this Year so far. Hope you don't mind all the camera eye fucking. That one shot with all the lens flare looked so cool. Everyone go thank @Thunderesque for the amazing cinematography in this one!

scenes i recorded on my 7D while on a goodwill program in Japan in February of 2012.
We were able to walk around what remains of the Tsunami devastated township of Minamisanriku in the Tohoku region. I recorded audio from two ladies who shared with us firsthand their story of struggle and survival.
The Kanji at the start of the film reads "ichi-go ichi-e", which can be translated to "once in a lifetime". I learnt this phrase near the end of my trip by another member of the program. I think it captures the experience.
The editing was inspired by the visual storytelling style of vimeo hero Matty Brown.. With a mix of my own too i suppose..!

As a passionate skater, this inspired me to bring skating to this particularly tough neighbourhood as a way of empowering kids.
As a result “Love in Action” Ethio Skate project was born in my heart.
The community includes boys and girls between the ages of 6 and 19 in the Intoto area of Addis Ababa. Many of the kids are hawking in the city day by day and are slipping through the cracks in the system.
Ethioskate uses skateboarding as a tool for empowering youth, to create new opportunities and to be the potential for change.
We hope to grow a sustainable organization that is recognized locally and globally for changing the lives of youth through skateboarding. "

A short featuring Sara Roholt fly fishing for trout using two-handed or "spey" rods on the Missouri River, Montana in Dec. 2011.
This type of fishing is most commonly associated with Steelhead and Atlantic Salmon fishing, but we find that it is extremely effective for trout on our river, especially during the winter months. You can learn more at http://www.headhuntersflyshop.com/wp
Shot on an un-hacked Panasonic GH2 at 720 60p and edited in FCP X.
-Hyperprime 12mm 1.6-
The entire shoot was done with the new SLR Magic/Noktor Hyperprime 12mm f1.6 lens. This great lens gave this amateur a crash course in full manual video shooting. Once I got the hang of using the lens, I really liked it. It loves the subject close to the camera. Most segments were shot from 1.6 - 2.8, some to f4-8. You can see slight vignetting when wide open, but not bothersome to me.
The wide angle and almost "macro" (less than 6") capabilities are perfect for the kind of shooting we do while fishing.
"Time Lapse' sequences at beginning and end were shot using the GH2 300% feature. First time for that as well. Not amazing quality, but quick and easy.
