Dimitris Papaioannou
Dimitris Papaioannou (Greek: Δημήτρης Παπαϊωάννου; born 21 June 1964) is a Greek experimental theater stage director, choreographer and visual artist who drew media attention and acclaim with his creative direction of the Opening Ceremony of the Athens 2004 Olympic Games. His varied career spans three decades and has seen him conceive and direct stage works for the Athens Concert Hall, Edafos Dance Theatre and Elliniki Theamaton, work as a costume, set and make-up designer, and published over 40 comics.
Fine arts training
Born in Athens, Papaioannou, an Athens College graduate, showed a flair for fine art from an early age, and studied under the renowned Greek painter Yannis Tsarouchis for three years in his mid-teens. At 19, he earned himself a place at the Athens School of Fine Arts, entering the institution with the highest marks attained by any student, and there studying under Dimitris Mytaras and Rena Papaspyrou.
Early recognition
Papaioannou first attracted attention as a visual artist, illustrator and comic book creator. He presented his art work at a number of exhibitions, produced illustrations for numerous magazines, and designed and co-edited the countercultural fanzine Kontrosol sto Haos (1986–1992), one of the few publications to include openly gay content at that time in Greece. He also contributed to the Greek gay activist magazine To Kraximo (1981–1994) in the early 1980s, and gave an interview to the publication in 1993. Moreover, he published over 40 comics in Greek alternative comics magazines such as Babel and Para Pende, many of which incorporated gay themes and explicit images (such as 1986's Rock 'n' Roll, 1988's My Ex-Boyfriend, and 1993's Heart-Shaped Earth). He was awarded first prize in a competition organised by Marseille Public Transport Authority at the 5th Biennial of Young Artists from Europe and the Mediterranean, held in Marseille in 1990, for his comic Un Bon Plan.

Assistant director
The role of an Assistant Director on a film includes tracking daily progress against the filming production schedule, arranging logistics, preparing daily call sheets, checking cast and crew, and maintaining order on the set. They also have to take care of the health and safety of the crew. The role of an Assistant to the Director is often confused with Assistant Director but the responsibilities are entirely different. The Assistant to the Director manages all of the Director's in development, pre-production, while on set, through post-production and is often involved in both personal management as well as creative aspects of the production process. Historically, Assistant to Director was a stepping stone to directing work; Alfred Hitchcock was an AD, as was James McTeigue. This transition into film directing is no longer common in feature films. It is more common now for an Assistant to the Director to transition to a production management or producer role than to directing. In America, an Assistant to the Director is not a unionized role, but Assistant Directors of every level require membership to the Director's Guild of America. The DGA strictly monitors and regulates employment frequency and duration, salary, and promotions of Directors and are usually completely different from the requirements of filmmaking and should not be confused.

Da Grécia vem STILL LIFE (NATUREZA-MORTA), de Dimitris Papaioannou, da Compagnie Louis Brouillard. Performer, diretor, figurinista, cenógrafo e iluminador, Papaioannou criou a Cerimônia de Abertura dos Jogos Olímpicos de Atenas de 2004 e tornou-se conhecido mundialmente. Membro fundador da "Edafos Dance Theatre"(1986-2002), criou todas as 17 produções da companhia e deixou uma marca indelével na cena das artes contemporâneas gregas, conquistando prêmios, convites para festivais internacionais e atraindo um cativo público ao longo das turnês pelos principais palcos de Atenas. Sua coreografia Natureza Morta nasce de uma meditação sobre o mito de Sísifo - que foi condenado a um tipo estranho de imortalidade: rolar uma enorme pedra até o topo de uma montanha até a pedra rolar ladeira abaixo. Ele, então, desce a ladeira a fim de rolar a pedra para cima, novamente, ad infinitum. Ao associar esse mito à classe trabalhadora, Papaioannou faz um trabalho sobre o trabalho e relaciona-o, na atualidade, aos países em desenvolvimento e os da Europa ocidental.

Da Grécia vem STILL LIFE (NATUREZA-MORTA), de Dimitris Papaioannou, da Compagnie Louis Brouillard. Performer, diretor, figurinista, cenógrafo e iluminador, Papaioannou criou a Cerimônia de Abertura dos Jogos Olímpicos de Atenas de 2004 e tornou-se conhecido mundialmente. Membro fundador da "Edafos Dance Theatre"(1986-2002), criou todas as 17 produções da companhia e deixou uma marca indelével na cena das artes contemporâneas gregas, conquistando prêmios, convites para festivais internacionais e atraindo um cativo público ao longo das turnês pelos principais palcos de Atenas. Sua coreografia Natureza Morta nasce de uma meditação sobre o mito de Sísifo - que foi condenado a um tipo estranho de imortalidade: rolar uma enorme pedra até o topo de uma montanha até a pedra rolar ladeira abaixo. Ele, então, desce a ladeira a fim de rolar a pedra para cima, novamente, ad infinitum. Ao associar esse mito à classe trabalhadora, Papaioannou faz um trabalho sobre o trabalho e relaciona-o, na atualidade, aos países em desenvolvimento e os da Europa ocidental.
