Cambridge (/ˈkeɪmbrɪdʒ/KAYM-brij) is a university city and the county town of Cambridgeshire, England, on the River Cam about 50 miles (80 km) north of London. At the United Kingdom Census 2011, its population was 123,867, including 24,488 students.
There is archaeological evidence of settlement in the area in the Bronze Age and in Roman Britain; under Viking rule, Cambridge became an important trading centre. The first town charters were granted in the 12th century, although city status was not conferred until 1951.
Cambridge is the home of the University of Cambridge, founded in 1209 and one of the top five universities in the world. The university includes the Cavendish Laboratory, King's College Chapel, and the Cambridge University Library. The Cambridge skyline is dominated by the last two buildings, along with the spire of the Our Lady and the English Martyrs Church, the chimney of Addenbrooke's Hospital and St John's College Chapel tower.
Cambridge is at the heart of the high-technology Silicon Fen with industries such as software and bioscience and many start-up companies spun out of the university. Over 40% of the workforce have a higher education qualification, more than twice the national average. Cambridge is also home to the Cambridge Biomedical Campus, one of the largest biomedical research clusters in the world, soon to be home to AstraZeneca, a hotel and relocated Papworth Hospital.
Exhibition Road is a street in South Kensington, London which is home to several major museums and academic establishments.
The road gets its name from the Great Exhibition of 1851 which was held just inside Hyde Park at the northern end of the road. It forms the central feature in an area known as Albertopolis.
It provides access to many nationally significant institutions, including the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Science Museum, Natural History Museum (which incorporates the former Geological Museum), the Royal Geographical Society, Imperial College London (directly and via Imperial College Road), Pepperdine University Abroad and Jagiellonian University Abroad. The London Goethe Institute and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints meeting house are also located on Exhibition Road.
A design competition for plans of how to improve the street's design to reflect its cultural importance was held in 2003 by the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. The competition was won by the architectural firm Dixon and Jones for a shared space scheme for the road and surrounding streets which would give pedestrians greater priority whilst still allow some vehicular traffic at a reduced speed. The project also aimed to improve the artistic and architectural merit of the streetscape, and clearly draws inspiration from the work of Gordon Cullen's Townscape. The scheme was completed ahead of the 2012 London Olympics.
The University of Cambridge (abbreviated as Cantab in post-nominal letters; also known as Cambridge University) is a collegiate public research university in the English town of Cambridge. Founded in 1209, Cambridge is the second oldest university in the English-speaking world and the world's fourth-oldest surviving university. It grew out of an association of scholars who left the University of Oxford after a dispute with the townspeople. The two ancient universities share many common features and are often jointly referred to as "Oxbridge".
Cambridge is formed from a variety of institutions which include 31 constituent colleges and over 100 academic departments organised into six schools. The university occupies buildings throughout the city, many of which are of historical importance. The colleges are self-governing institutions founded as integral parts of the university. In the year ended 31 July 2015, the university had a total income of £1.638 billion, of which £397 million was from research grants and contracts. The central university and colleges have a combined endowment of around £5.89 billion, the largest of any university outside the United States. Cambridge is a member of many associations and forms part of the "golden triangle" of leading English universities and Cambridge University Health Partners, an academic health science centre. The university is closely linked with the development of the high-tech business cluster known as "Silicon Fen".

Floaty floral dresses or crisp lacy numbers are her go-to for summer, but today the Duchess of Cambridge opted for something a little more ladylike. Kate was channeling Jackie O chic as she arrived at London's V&A; to open the new exhibition spaces in a £1,790 tweed dress by Gucci. The tailored black and white piece with red trim and gold buttons hugged the royal's famously svelte figure perfectly, while she wore her brunette locks swept back in a half up do. Kate strode through the new courtyard, with its brilliant white tile flooring, to meet its designer and museum staff, before enjoying a tour of the new area. Just a stone’s throw from her official residence, Kensington palace, the V&A; Exhibition Road Quarter is the museum’s largest architectural project in the last 100 years. The Duch...
Cambridge Vlog 73 | There are lots of myths surrounding entry requirements for Cambridge. The admissions process is not as mysterious as you think. It's not so much a set of hurdles for you to overcome but rather a situation in which you present an admissions tutor with a complete picture of yourself. This is everything including your personal statement, your AS results, predicted grades, reference, interviews, entrance exams, etc. They will then assess you based on everything together. If you're an exceptional candidate overall but did badly in one AS subject that won't automatically cost you your place. At the end of the day, it's humans who decide whether to give you an offer or not. I also moaned about doing laundry a lot in this video. Music: Omeo - Darius -------------------------...

Cambridge Travel Video - Few cities can take the breath away quite like Cambridge. It's not just its tightly packed core of exquisite architecture, or even the mind-boggling mass of brain power that has passed through its world-famous university, but also it's the sensation of drowning in history, tradition and quirky ritual that only seems to deepen the more you discover. But so too there is plentiful opportunity to come up for air, relaxing in the manicured college gardens, punting along the beautiful river 'backs' and roaming the lush water meadows that run out of the city. And of course Cambridge is no mere repository of history and charm, it is very much a living city; its narrow streets are alive with the click and whirr of cyclists. The river is clogged with red-faced rowers, drift...

Jurassic Coast goes Digital From time travelling digital ghosts, steam-punked submarines, CGI animated fossils and weather balloons projecting the earth’s climate change, the Seaton Jurassic centre is no ordinary visitor attraction. Working with Devon Wildlife Trust, Cambridge Filmworks (who have previously worked on visitor attractions around the world including the Cutty Sark and Luxor Museum in Egypt) have gone back 250 million years in time to bring to life the story of Britain’s World Heritage coast. But this isn’t any ordinary journey – the story is told through a plethora of interactive displays and dramatic multimedia installations. There are drawers and books to open, buttons to press, knobs to twiddle and an array of immersive digital experiences to be had with a surprise arou...

University of Cambridge - How to get into University of Cambridge and College 2016
Contact was questioned from the boulevard
Head colds in frozen weeks of summer holds
I'm fine, I'm fine wait waiting on the line
We sent ourselves in on the gray card scale
Hold my head
Where storms are sand
And sand is said
To be sad
Longwinded Cambridge medicative care
Head first the motor runs the motor must run
They confiscated every accident
And turned ourselves in on our selfish turns
With visitations from the underwhelmed
Five years she fears to hold my broken head
Why were you gone why were you gone so long
She is the reason that I still believe
Hold my head
Where storms are sand
And sand is said
To be sad
Cover your eyes in the pouring rain
Cover your eyes everyone is all the same
Cover your eyes in the pouring rain
Cover your eyes everyone is all the same
Far away
Far away
