O ELEVADOR DE SANTA JUSTA (ou Elevador do Carmo) liga a rua do Ouro à rua do Carmo, em Lisboa. Trata-se de uma estrutura de ferro fundido, enriquecido com trabalhos em filigrana, da autoria do arquiteto Raoul Mesnier du Ponsard. A sua construção ter-se-á iniciado em 1898 e a inauguração ocorreu a 10 de julho de 1902, estando assim com a bonita idade de 111 anos. A diferença de nível entre o piso da estação inferior e o da superior é de 30 metros. Foi considerada uma obra arrojada à época, atendendo ao desnível vencido, aos materiais utilizados e aos viadutos construídos, que possibilitaram os acessos à estação superior no Largo do Carmo. Atualmente é uma das estruturas mais visitadas por turistas. Do alto da torre, acedido por uma estreita escada em caracol, o visitante tem esplêndidas vistas sobre o Rossio, a Baixa de Lisboa, o Castelo de São Jorge na colina oposta, o rio Tejo e as ruínas da Igreja do Convento do Carmo. Em 2002 foi classificado como Monumento Nacional.
THE SANTA JUSTA LIFT (or Carmo Lift) connects Golden street with Carmo street, in Lisbon (Portugal). It is a cast iron structure, enriched with filigree, designed by architect Raoul Mesnier du Ponsard. Its construction will have started in 1898 and the inauguration took place at July 10, 1902, so it is the pretty age of 111 years. Between the bottom level and upper station there are 30 meters. This was considered a daring work at the time, given the gap overcome, the materials used and the overpasses built, which allowed access to the upper station in Largo do Carmo. It is currently one of the structures most visited by tourists. From the tower, accessed by a narrow spiral staircase, the visitor has splendid views over the Rossio, the Low City, the Castle of S. El Elevador de Santa Justa, también llamado Elevador do Carmo, es un ascensor que une los barrios de la Baixa Pombalina y el Chiado en Lisboa, Portugal. Se levanta sobre la calle de Santa Justa y enlaza este céntrico paseo con la Praza do Carmo, junto al Museu Arqueológico do Carmo. Elevador de Santa Justa, imagen frontal.
Este ascensor fue diseñado por Raoul Mesnier de Ponsard, que también se responsabilizó, en esta misma ciudad, de la construcción del Elevador do Lavra. No está probada la relación de este ingeniero con el famoso Gustave Eiffel. Sólo se sabe que el ingeniero Raoul Mesnier y el arquitecto francés Louis Reynaud aplicaron en estos elevadores algunas de las técnicas y materiales ya utilizados en Francia. Historia[editar]
La construcción del ascensor comenzó en 1900 y finalizó en 1902, siendo inaugurado el 10 de julio. Inicialmente funcionaba con vapor, siendo sustituida la maquinaria original el 6 de noviembre de 1907 por motores eléctricos.
Descripción[editar]
Su altura es de 45 metros. La estructura metálica, enteramente de hierro, fue construida por una empresa con sede en Junqueira. La decoración es de estilo neogótico, con un diseño diferente en cada uno de sus niveles. Los dos ascensores de su interior están revestidos de madera y pueden albergar 24 personas cada uno. Al último nivel se accede a través de una escalera helicoidal que termina en una terraza desde donde se puede admirar una panorámica de la ciudad como el Castillo de San Jorge, la plaza del Rossio y el barrio de la Baixa. Este ascensor es uno de los ejemplos más representativos de este tipo de arquitectura en Portugal.
Operación[editar]
La estructura ha perdido su funcionalidad práctica como medio de transporte, permaneciendo como una atracción turística lisboeta. La estación de metro Baixa - Chiado ha unido los dos barrios mediante un sistema de escaleras mecánicas que puede ser utilizado sin billete.
El Elevador de Santa Justa se distingue de los demás elevadores por ser el único configurado como ascensor urbano vertical. Santa Justa Lift
The Santa Justa Lift (Portuguese: Elevador de Santa Justa, pronounced: [elɨvɐˈdoɾ dɨ ˈsɐ̃tɐ ˈʒuʃtɐ]), also called Carmo Lift (Portuguese: Elevador do Carmo, [elɨvɐˈdoɾ du ˈkaɾmu]), is an elevator/lift in civil parish of Santa Justa, in the historical city of Lisbon, situated at the end of Rua de Santa Justa. It connects the lower streets of the Baixa with the higher Largo do Carmo (Carmo Square). Since its construction, the Lift has become a tourist attraction for Lisbon as, among the urban lifts in the city, Santa Justa is the only remaining vertical one. Others, including Elevador da Glória and Elevador da Lavra, are funiculars, and the other lift constructed around the same time, the Elevator of São Julião has since been demolished.
History
The hills of Lisbon have always presented a problem for travel between the lower streets of the main Baixa and the higher Largo do Carmo (Carmo Square)., In order to facilitate the movement between the two, the civil and military engineer Roberto Arménio presented a project to the Lisbon municipal council in 1874. A similar project was suggested in 1876, that included raillines that would be pulled by animals up an inclined plane.

Santa Claus
Santa Claus, Saint Nicholas, Saint Nick, Father Christmas, Kris Kringle, Santy, or simply Santa is a mythical figure with historical origins who, in many Western cultures, brings gifts to the homes of well-behaved, "good" children on Christmas Eve (24 December) and the early morning hours of Christmas Day (25 December). The modern Santa Claus is derived from the British figure of Father Christmas, the Dutch figure of Sinterklaas, and Saint Nicholas, the historical Greek bishop and gift-giver of Myra. This image became popular in the United States and Canada in the 19th century due to the significant influence of the 1823 poem "A Visit From St. Nicholas" and of caricaturist and political cartoonist Thomas Nast. This image has been maintained and reinforced through song, radio, television, children's books and films.

Sólo se sabe que el ingeniero Raoul Mesnier y el arquitecto francés Louis Reynaud aplicaron en estos elevadores algunas de las técnicas y materiales ya utilizados en Francia. La construcción del ascensor comenzó en 1900 y finalizó en 1902, siendo inaugurado el 10 de julio. Inicialmente funcionaba con vapor, siendo sustituida la maquinaria original el 6 de noviembre de 1907 por motores eléctricos.

Su altura es de 45 metros. La estructura metálica, enteramente de hierro, fue construida por una empresa con sede en Junqueira. La decoración es de estilo neogótico, con un diseño diferente en cada uno de sus niveles. Los dos ascensores de su interior están revestidos de madera y pueden albergar 24 personas cada uno. Al último nivel se accede a través de una escalera helicoidal que termina en una terraza desde donde se puede admirar una panorámica de la ciudad como el Castillo de San Jorge, la plaza del Rossio y el barrio de la Baixa. Este ascensor es uno de los ejemplos más representativos de este tipo de arquitectura en Portugal.

La estructura ha perdido su funcionalidad práctica como medio de transporte, permaneciendo como una atracción turística lisboeta. La estación de metro Baixa - Chiado ha unido los dos barrios mediante un sistema de escaleras mecánicas que puede ser utilizado sin billete.
El Elevador de Santa Justa se distingue de los demás elevadores por ser el único configurado como ascensor urbano vertical. Elevador de Santa Justa da vértigo
El Elevador de Santa Justa, también llamado Elevador do Carmo, es un ascensor que une los barrios de la Baixa Pombalina y el Chiado en Lisboa, Portugal. Se levanta sobre la calle de Santa Justa y enlaza este céntrico paseo con la Praza do Carmo, junto al Museu Arqueológico do Carmo. Elevador de Santa Justa, imagen frontal.
Este ascensor fue diseñado por Raoul Mesnier de Ponsard, que también se responsabilizó, en esta misma ciudad, de la construcción del Elevador do Lavra. No está probada la relación de este ingeniero con el famoso Gustave Eiffel. Sólo se sabe que el ingeniero Raoul Mesnier y el arquitecto francés Louis Reynaud aplicaron en estos elevadores algunas de las técnicas y materiales ya utilizados en Francia. Historia[editar]
La construcción del ascensor comenzó en 1900 y finalizó en 1902, siendo inaugurado el 10 de julio. Inicialmente funcionaba con vapor, siendo sustituida la maquinaria original el 6 de noviembre de 1907 por motores eléctricos.
Descripción[editar]
Su altura es de 45 metros. La estructura metálica, enteramente de hierro, fue construida por una empresa con sede en Junqueira. La decoración es de estilo neogótico, con un diseño diferente en cada uno de sus niveles. Los dos ascensores de su interior están revestidos de madera y pueden albergar 24 personas cada uno. Al último nivel se accede a través de una escalera helicoidal que termina en una terraza desde donde se puede admirar una panorámica de la ciudad como el Castillo de San Jorge, la plaza del Rossio y el barrio de la Baixa. Este ascensor es uno de los ejemplos más representativos de este tipo de arquitectura en Portugal.
Operación[editar]
La estructura ha perdido su funcionalidad práctica como medio de transporte, permaneciendo como una atracción turística lisboeta. La estación de metro Baixa - Chiado ha unido los dos barrios mediante un sistema de escaleras mecánicas que puede ser utilizado sin billete.
El Elevador de Santa Justa se distingue de los demás elevadores por ser el único configurado como ascensor urbano vertical. 4:31 Castelo de São Jorge - From Praça da Figueira we took the bus up the hill to Castelo de São Jorge, which is one of the top things to do in Lisbon. After paying the entrance fee, we walked around the castle, which is situated on the top of one of Lisbon’s hills as a citadel. The views of the surrounding area and the castle itself were spectacular. This is a must visit attraction in Lisbon. Price - 8.50 EUR per person
8:01 Epic seafood at Cervejaria Ramiro - If you ask anyone where to eat the best Portuguese seafood meal in Lisbon, undoubtedly the number one response you’ll hear is Cervejaria Ramiro. It’s a seafood palace of a restaurant that’s popular with both locals and tourists alike, everyone comes for the abundance of incredibly fresh seafood. It actually almost feels like a Chinese restaurant when you’re eating at Cervejaria Ramiro from the liveliness and the fresh seafood tanks. We started off with some prawns in garlic sauce and then ate clams in garlic and then had crab. The crab roe was intensely amazing, and I’ve never seen a crab with so much roe in my life. Next we had some of the greatest shrimp / prawns I’ve ever seen. I ordered 2 tiger prawns which were the size of lobsters, and then 2 scarlet prawns, a type I had never eaten before. Both were incredibly delicious, some of the best prawns and seafood I’ve ever tried. Finally, my last seafood dish at Cervejaria Ramiro was a plate of goose barnacles and some oysters. For steak at Cervejaria Ramiro one of the popular things you have to eat is called a prego, which is steak sandwich. After eating all that seafood, somehow the steak sandwich hits the spot. Our total price - 108 EUR for everything we ate and ordered.
26:23 Lisbon Cathedral - The Lisbon Cathedral is one of the first cathedrals and earliest buildings in Lisbon, and it’s a fantastic sight to see.
27:31 Rua Augusta Arch - After walking around the Lisbon Cathedral we then headed to the main plaza of Lisbon and walked around the Rua Augusta Arch and got a nice view of the Tagus river.
29:10 Piri piri chicken at Frangasqueira Nacional - Finally to end this amazing day of Portuguese food and attractions in Lisbon, we headed to Frangasqueira Nacional to try their piri piri chicken. It’s just a small takeaway restaurant, but the passion of the owners is evident. The piri piri chicken was awesome. Total price - 14 EUR
This was probably my favorite day of our trip to Lisbon, with a perfect mix of incredible Portuguese food, especially seafood at Cervejaria Ramiro and visiting attractions in Lisbon.

Santa Maria Maior de Lisboa o Sé de Lisboa es la catedral de Lisboa e iglesia más antigua de la ciudad. Desde el inicio de la construcción en el año 1147, el edificio ha sido modificado en varias ocasiones y ha sobrevivido a varios terremotos. Actualmente es el resultado de una mezcla de distintos estilos arquitectónicos. El primer edificio fue construido entre 1147 y las primeras décadas del siglo XIII en estilo Románico tardío. En aquel tiempo, las reliquias de San Vicente de Zaragoza (patrón de Lisboa) se llevaron a la catedral desde el sur del país. A finales del siglo XIII, el rey Dionisio I de Portugal construyó un convento gótico y su sucesor, Alfonso IV convirtió la capilla principal en panteón real para sí y su familia. En 1498, la reina Leonor fundó la Misericórdia de Lisboa en una de las capillas del convento de la catedral. La Misericórdia es una institución caritativa católica que luego se expandió por otras ciudades y que fue muy importante en Portugal y en sus colonias. Recorremos las diferentes estancias de la Catedral, su deambulatorio, claustro y Tesoro catedralicio. El vídeo cuenta con algunos comentarios sobre la historia de la Catedral, de su Claustro, recomendando encarecidamente su visita y de su Tesoro.
